Vic Hadfield’s 34-Minute Night of Mayhem in the 1971 Playoffs
April 8, 1971: The Rangers and Maple Leafs brought chaos to Madison Square Garden. Vic Hadfield racked up 34 penalty minutes, the fourth most ever in a playoff game at the time, after two fights with Jim Harrison and a third-period brawl that sent both benches to the showers. Paul Henderson and Dave Keon led the Leafs to a 4–1 win, while Tim Horton had New York’s lone goal.
Classic ‘70s playoff hockey: tough, wild, and unforgettable.
