Prologue
At first, you thought it was just a harmless place, that nothing there would actually hurt you. After all, it was only the remains of an old base that had been out of use for a long time.
It was supposed to be just a simple journey there. You wanted to be useful to the Resistance somehow. You wanted to earn your place as the first human to be with them.
Even so, when you merely mentioned the idea of going there on your own to investigate and maybe bring back parts and interesting things that could be useful to them, you were immediately reprimanded for it.
They certainly didn’t want you setting foot in that place.
But your stubbornness spoke louder than those Mobian voices, and soon enough, you set off alone toward the place. What could possibly go wrong in the end? It wasn’t like Eggman had left traps behind in a ruined base he didn’t even use anymore.
Armed with all the courage you had, you headed there, determined to investigate the site and collect anything valuable.
Your journey was calm and didn’t even take half as long as you expected. Soon, in the distance, the rubble and scrap of what had once been the base became visible among the vegetation.
With a wide smile on your face and quickening your pace, you reached the entrance of the place. The destroyed roof, vines growing along the walls, and moss taking over every damp corner were the main details.
There were remains of broken, scrapped badniks, nothing really useful left outside.
Still determined to find something, you allowed yourself to enter the silent environment.
With hesitant, careful steps, you walked through the dimly lit base, your eyes scanning every little spot.
It didn’t take long before your irises focused on something shiny. It glimmered among the dust and debris.
It looked very much like a metallic bracelet, stylized with highly technological designs, a brown gem embedded on one side. It was far too beautiful to be something made by Eggman, and yet there was a certain feeling that kept you from crouching down and picking it up.
But overcoming any hesitation, you allowed yourself to reach for the object, your palm wrapping around its cold surface, feeling the icy touch of that metal.
And in the blink of an eye, the embedded gem shimmered, and the bracelet strangely made a surprising leap up your arm, making you gasp loudly in shock and jump back in alarm.
That thing, as soon as it felt your touch, clamped onto your wrist like a bear trap. And even though it didn’t hurt, the contact with the inner part of the bracelet’s band felt like it was burning your skin.
In desperation, you tried to grab and pull it off with one hand, but it didn’t move even a single centimeter, firmer than cement on your wrist.
That was when you felt that sensation surge through your body, a mix of agony and weakness settling in, your body breaking out in goosebumps.
Leaning against the wall, your eyes widened as you noticed the back of your hand, a layer of fur growing at an astonishing speed, your nails quickly turning into small claws.
You had no idea what Eggman had done there, but it worked fast.
To your despair, the transformation didn’t stop for even a second. You closed your eyes, and when you opened them again, you realized you had shrunk to almost half your size, with strange things on your head and back.
Everything about you felt strange, and walking became difficult, as if you were learning from scratch all over again.
All you knew was that maybe, just maybe, stepping into that base hadn’t been the best idea after all.
But either way, there was only one last thing left for you to think about. How were you going to explain this to him?
Sonic
Green eyes narrowed, then an eyebrow arched. He was visibly confused, one ear flicking to the side as his arms crossed over his chest while the blue hedgehog analyzed you.
You knew it would be far too complicated to explain this. You didn’t even know exactly what he was thinking at the moment, but the familiar clothes might already be enough.
“It’s really you…?” Sonic asked quietly, scratching his chin and looking you over, analyzing every detail.
“I-I think so…” Your hand nervously clutched the bracelet firmly attached to your wrist.
It was new, indeed, and rather uncomfortable, but maybe it could be dealt with.
“How did this happen, babe?” he murmured. “You… turned into a Mobian too!” His voice sounded more excited than expected.
“Y-yes…” you stammered, looking away. “I’m sorry, everyone tried to warn me… and still I insisted on going to that damn place…” you began to explain.
Meanwhile, the hedgehog’s eyes slid over your appearance. You really were different from the human he was used to seeing. But somehow, there was something special that drew him completely to you.
Maybe it was that sense of familiarity — now you were both hedgehogs. And your quills looked so soft to him. They were bristled defensively; you certainly still couldn’t control them.
And your scent was what attracted him the most. A strange mix of old attraction and instinct.
It was during that reverie that he focused on your wrist, the obviously strange bracelet there. Gently, he extended his hand, holding your arm and lifting it, sliding a finger over the object as he examined it.
It was definitely Eggman’s — his symbol was embedded, very small, in the brown gem. But above all, it was strange that the doctor even had something like that. What was he planning with it in the end?
Sonic noticed your body tense for a moment.
“I-I know this is awful! I can try talking to Tails… maybe he’ll know how to remove this thing, you don’t have to worry, I’ll fix it—”
You felt a firm finger gently press against your lips, stopping you from saying another word.
“Shhh…” The blue hedgehog fell silent, a small smirk forming as he continued to admire every little detail about you. “This is cool…” he chuckled softly, and you felt one of his ears subtly fold back.
“What?” Your eyes widened.
“Hm? This is cool,” he repeated. “You and me… hedgehogs… you know…” He laughed again, leaving you stunned for a few seconds.
“But… I thought that—” you tried to argue.
“Hey… don’t get me wrong, I really like you as a human…” Sonic stepped even closer, gently pressing his muzzle against your shoulder. “But you like this… with those bristled quills… and that little scent…” He sniffed your fur for emphasis.
Immediately, you felt your face heat up. You were sure you were blushing, even if you couldn’t see it.
“Sonic!” you scolded him, taking a few steps back. “How can you be liking this? It’s terrible!” You crossed your arms, frowning.
He shrugged, sliding his hand over your quills.
“And you’re not happy?” With deliberate steps, he moved closer again.
“Confused, right? I get it… But I’ll help you not feel that way anymore…” With a warm look, he leaned down a bit, since you were now somewhat shorter than him.
Your breath hitched and your heart raced with his closeness, until you felt the touch of his muzzle against yours and his mouth capturing yours, his fangs gently nibbling in provocation.
And for a moment, you completely forgot this was supposed to be a bad situation.
Your quills slowly relaxed, becoming soft, your eyes closing as you gradually allowed him to guide your arms to wrap around his neck.
The moment felt endless, until slowly, and to your disappointment, he pulled away from the kiss, letting out a small laugh.
“So, what do you say? Now I’ve got someone to take on some adventures with me?” He raised his eyebrows provocatively.
“I…” You took a deep breath. “Are you really happy about this?” you asked.
“And why wouldn’t I be?” He crossed his arms, laughing softly. “I’ll teach you everything… absolutely everything about being a hedgehog…” The final part was said in a playful, rough tone.
Looking away, your face heated up again, and involuntarily your tail began to sway in contentment, which didn’t go unnoticed by your boyfriend, who simply chuckled.
“Come on…” Sonic extended his hand. “There’s a lot of things I want to show you…”
You hesitated at first, but soon took his hand, letting him pull you closer to his body and lift you into his arms, making you gasp softly.
“A lot of things…?” you asked uncertainly.
“Yeah… you’re gonna love every single one of them… trust me…” You even thought about arguing with him, but there was no time — in the blink of an eye, he dashed forward with you in his arms.
Maybe, just maybe, he was a little too excited about this.
Shadow
You literally didn’t need to explain anything to him. Shadow was outside, fixing up his motorcycle. His ears flicked in your direction as soon as he heard the crackle of dry leaves and breaking branches.
Looking to the side, he raised an eyebrow, then closed his eyes, shaking his head and sighing in exasperation.
The black hedgehog recognized those eyes very well — specifically the eyes he loved seeing early in the morning. That immediately made him drop everything he was doing and stand up.
With deliberate steps and an impassive expression, nearly impossible to read, Shadow approached you, already analyzing your fur and your bristled quills. And most importantly, the bracelet you definitely didn’t have before leaving home.
He could recognize you from miles away.
He stopped right in front of you, crossing his arms.
“What happened?” he asked with a huff, as if preparing himself to scold you over some foolishness and give you a lecture.
“W-well… I kind of turned into… a hedgehog?” you murmured, subtly shrinking into yourself.
“Hmph, I can see that… I mean—” He brought his fingers up to rub his temples.
“Ah… right… where do I start…” you whispered, looking away and scratching the side of your face. “I went to the abandoned base—”
Shadow extended his open hand toward you, signaling for you to stop.
“You… went? Even after so many warnings…” he murmured, clearly displeased.
“Yeah… I did…” you replied, suddenly feeling very embarrassed. “P-please forgive me… I just wanted to help… but there must be some way to reverse this—” you started, but didn’t finish.
Suddenly, completely catching you off guard, the strong arms of the black hedgehog slowly wrapped around your now smaller body, his muzzle burying itself into the curve of your neck as he sighed deeply.
“…What matters… is that you didn’t get hurt…” he whispered, sending shivers through your entire body as his arms pulled you impossibly closer to him.
“I think so…” you replied, allowing yourself to relax into your boyfriend’s embrace, your arms wrapping around his back as you sighed with a mix of contentment and relief at the way he was receiving you.
And to your even greater surprise, a low, constant sound reached your ears, somehow familiar — and the strangest part? You were the one making that sound.
Your brow furrowed as you pulled away from Shadow.
“Something wrong?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I… I’m hearing something… in me…” Your ears twitched as you tried to understand the noise.
Slowly, as if to confirm something, your hands came to rest on your chest, just below your throat, immediately making your eyes widen. The sound. It was like a low, controlled purr that, for some reason, warmed you from the inside.
Shadow looked at you in confusion for a few seconds, until he understood what was causing your unease. For him, it was natural, but thinking about it, for you it must have been something entirely new.
“…Interesting… you’re purring because of me…” he huffed, placing a hand on his hip, a tone of near pride in his voice.
“Me?!” you stared at him in surprise.
“Yes… hedgehogs purr…” he explained, holding your hands, a subtle, almost invisible smile at the corner of his muzzle.
“Then why have I never heard you do it?” Your hands clenched.
“I have self-control,” he said casually, intertwining his fingers with yours, making you sigh in exasperation.
That was just great — hedgehog habits simply appearing in you. And for some reason you hated to question, Shadow’s scent made you not want to pull away from him at all.
He had always smelled good, but this was too much. And somehow, his scent was also on you now. For a moment, you caught a glimpse of how territory marking really worked for them.
It was clear now why other males didn’t get too close to you.
Shaking your head, you returned from the world of your thoughts.
“It’s okay… when I go back to normal, this will sort itself out…” you murmured.
Shadow blinked once, then twice at you, already letting you know you wouldn’t like what he was about to say.
“You’re going to go back…?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Of course! I can’t stay like this for the rest of my life…”
“Shadow! I’m human, I don’t think it’s a good idea if I suddenly just show up as a Mobian!” You tried to argue.
“I don’t see that as a problem…” he commented, his eyes scanning you meticulously. “In fact… some opportunities showed up…” he said in a low, rough tone, making your face heat up.
Your hands quickly covered your eyes.
“For Gaia’s sake, Shadow…” And slowly, he brought his muzzle close to your face, pressing it there, breathing in your scent.
He seemed to like it — far too much — staying there for a long moment before huffing and pulling away.
You even thought he was going to say something, but honestly, he didn’t need to. His warm eyes already said everything…
“What are you thinking?” you whispered, looking away.
“Your quills… they’re still very bristled… can you relax them?” It was a strange request, but the way he spoke and looked at you somehow told you it meant more than you wanted it to.
“Then I guess I’ll have to do it myself…” he muttered.
“What—” Suddenly his mouth brushed against yours in a long, heated kiss, his arms pulling your waist closer. Like magic, your quills slowly relaxed, and it was noticeable how the weight on your back suddenly lessened.
You had no idea what he had planned, but maybe it was interesting… and maybe it would convince you once and for all to never go back to being human.
Silver
He recognized you immediately at the door of the house. But instead of asking how it happened, what caused it, or anything else, the white hedgehog simply grabbed your hands, his eyes widening as he searched for any injuries.
“My goodness… are you okay? Feeling any pain?” he murmured, walking around you to look for any scratches or damage.
“I’m fine, love… it was just a… mishap…” you murmured, noticing how he didn’t seem to judge how you had become a hedgehog and was simply more worried about your well-being than anything else.
Once he confirmed you were indeed fine, Silver let out a sigh of relief, stepping closer and resting his forehead against yours.
“…Thank goodness… I’d never forgive myself if something bad had happened… you should have called me to go with you…” he began. Apparently, he didn’t consider your transformation a problem.
“But… I turned into this…” you gestured to yourself sadly.
“Hm? A hedgehog, yeah…” He raised an eyebrow.
“I am… but… the most important thing is you…” His hand cupped your cheek. “Ah, but does this transformation hurt? Any discomfort?” His eyes scanned yours, looking for answers.
“Ah… no…” you replied softly. “I mean… I sometimes poke myself with these… ow!” You brought your hand to your head, feeling the prick of the quills in your palm.
Immediately, the white hedgehog held your hand, examining it and seeing it was nothing serious. Then he let out a small laugh.
“You get used to it… first time as a hedgehog…” he said gently, his eyes full of happiness as he looked at you like that.
“There has to be a way to end this… right?”
“Maybe, dear… but is that what you want?” Silver asked.
“What do you mean? I think it’s good… for me to go back to being human, right?” you answered.
“Ah, yes, yes… for sure… but I don’t know… it’s just… it’s pretty cool having you as a hedgehog too…” He shrugged, scratching the back of his neck and looking away.
Falling silent for a few seconds, you analyzed his posture and reaction. Silver really did seem to like you this way. It was impressive — maybe it awakened some instinct or sense of familiarity. It didn’t hurt to ask.
“Why? Do you… like me like this?” you murmured to him.
“Look… I won’t lie… I like it, a lot…” He laughed, placing a hand on his hip. “For several reasons…” he whispered the last part.
“Hm? Want to give me an example…?” You crossed your arms, and Silver smiled softly as he stepped closer.
“Alright…” He took another step until he was face to face with you, his hand slowly and carefully threading through your still-bristled quills, pulling your head toward his shoulder. “Feel this…?”
For a second, you were confused about what he meant, until you breathed in some of his scent. It wasn’t like a normal smell — it wasn’t sweet or unpleasant, it was completely different.
You had felt it before, but didn’t know exactly what it was, until now, feeling it directly from the source, intensifying the closer you got to his neck, making your eyes squeeze shut as you basked in it.
It was contagious, intoxicating even, and it made you realize exactly how real hedgehogs perceived things.
Opening your half-lidded eyes, you noticed Silver was the same way against your shoulder, eyes closed, muzzle sniffing your scent. It was curious and intimate at the same time, making your mind spin.
“…I can feel… your scent…” you replied. “But not like ‘smell’ exactly…” Silver laughed at your lack of words.
“You can call it… ‘chemistry’… sounds better…” he explained. “Every hedgehog has it… cool, right?”
“It’s curious…” you commented.
“Uh-huh…” The white hedgehog wrapped his arms around your waist. “And your scent is amazing…” he whispered. “If you were already incredible as a human…” He laughed at himself, shaking his head.
“I think I get what you mean…” you replied.
“Well… it’s your choice…” he shrugged.
“I’ll think about it carefully…” you murmured.
“Great… now, how about I show you some more cool things?” He gently caressed your cheek.
“Alright… show me then…” Unexpectedly, his cyan-blue aura wrapped around both of you, promptly lifting you into the air with him, making you gasp softly.
Wherever he was taking you, you were more than excited to find out.
