Always There for You
Pairing:Dad!MattRempe x Mom!Reader
Synopsis: Your son is a big daddy’s boy, even before he was born. So once he starts teething, he starts to get more emotionally attached, always needing to be around Matt or there will be tantrums thrown. Once Matt goes on a triple away game, Theodore is all wet cheeks and screams. He wants his dad and only his dad.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Theodore sweetheart please," you say with a tired sigh, the apartment is shaking at this point with how loud his wails are. "Dadaaaaaaaaaaaa," his screams make a splitting headache arise in your head. "Do you want to call him?," that seems to get him to stop screaming, you sigh and get your phone to call Matt. "Hello?," Matt answers on the other side sounding as if practice just ended. "Matthew I genuinely cannot do this anymore," you reply, on the verge of tears, he could hear Theo in the back wailing. "It's alright baby give him the phone," once you hand the phone to Theo after putting it on FaceTime it's as if a spell was cast on him and he was all quiet and babbling to his father. "It hurts...," he tries to say which only comes out as babbles to Matt, who could only sympathize with him.

An Unexpected Buzzcut - MR73
Warnings : None!
Summary : A story in which Y/N comes home to find Matt buzzing his entire head leaving her speechless yet supportive of his choice + has a facetime call with Matt’s sisters.
Y/N knew something was wrong the second she unlocked the apartment door.
Not wrong wrong—no smoke, no alarms, no frantic texts—but… off. The air felt different. Too quiet. Too buzzy. Like when a fridge hums louder than normal and your brain refuses to ignore it.
She stepped inside, kicked her shoes off, and dropped her bag by the door.
Then she heard a loud buzzing noise.
She froze.
Her brows furrowed as the sound grew louder the farther she walked down the hallway. It wasn’t the TV. It wasn’t music. It was mechanical. Aggressive. Familiar in the worst way.
“Matt?” she called cautiously.
No answer. The buzzing continued.
Her stomach dropped.
She followed the noise straight to the bathroom, hand already pushing the door open before her brain could stop her.
And then—
She gasped.
Clumps on clumps of hair everywhere.
The bathroom floor looked like a barbershop crime scene. Thick, dark piles everywhere—on the tile, around the sink, clinging to the counter like evidence. And standing in the middle of it all was Matt, shirtless, electric shaver in hand.
With a buzzed head.
Y/N stared.
Matt turned slowly, eyes widening when he saw her. “Hey, baby.”
Her mouth opened.
Closed.
Opened again.
“Why,” she said carefully, “does it look like you lost a fight with your own scalp?”
He giggled. “Okay, dramatic.”
“MATTHEW.”
She stepped fully into the bathroom, eyes darting between the piles of hair and his head, like she was trying to convince herself this was a hallucination brought on by exhaustion.
“You—” she pointed at him. “Your hair.”
“Yeah.”
“Your hair.”
“It was getting long,” he offered.
“You buzzed it.”
“I refreshed it.”
She laughed once—sharp and incredulous. “You erased it.”
He shrugged. “It’ll grow back.”
Her hands flew to her head. “You didn’t even warn me!”
“I was gonna surprise you.”
“This is not the kind of surprise you spring on someone who emotionally bonded with your curls!”
He snorted despite himself.
She stepped closer, still staring. “I come home expecting dinner and a hug, and instead I walk into you reenacting a military enlistment video.”
“That’s not fair.”
“It is completely fair.”
She sighed, rubbing her face. “Okay. Okay. I’m not mad. I’m just so shocked.”
He nodded slowly. “That makes sense.”
She looked at him again, really looked. The buzzcut made him look sharper somehow—older, more intimidating. Less soft edges, more hockey enforcer energy.
Her chest did a weird little flip.
“I just have one question,” she said.
“Shoot.”
She pointed at his head. “Do you remember how sad I was when you shaved your mustache?”
Matt smiled nervously. “You bring that up a lot.”
“Because it hurt,” she continued. “Emotionally and spiritually.”
He laughed. “I still had hair then.”
She gestured wildly. “And now you rock a buzzcut? That shocks me even more.”
He grinned. “So that’s worse?”
“Yes Matt!! Way worse!” She says with a laugh.
“But—” she paused, squinting. “Not in a bad way.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Yeah?”
She reached out slowly, hesitating for half a second before placing her hand on his head.
“Oh,” she murmured.
“Oh good or oh bad?” he asked.
“…Oh interesting.”
She rubbed her palm over it again. “It’s soft.”
“Told you.”
She smiled despite herself. “I hate that I kinda love it.”
He beamed. “I knew you would.”
“Don’t get cocky,” she warned, but she was already laughing.
He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her in. “You okay with it?”
She nodded against his chest. “Yeah It’s your hair. Your choice. I just needed a moment to mourn your curls.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you first.”
She sighed. “I forgive you. But next time, emotional preparation is required.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
They cleaned up together, joking the whole time. She made dramatic comments about “fallen soldiers” as she swept hair into the trash. He apologized at least three more times, and she teased him for every single one.
Later, they collapsed on the couch, her legs draped over his lap. She absentmindedly rubbed his head while scrolling her phone.
“You know,” she said, “your teammates are gonna lose their minds.”
He laughed. “Oh, I know.”
She smirked. “You should FaceTime your sisters.”
His eyes lit up. “Oh, that’s evil.”
“Do it.”
He grabbed his phone, dialing without hesitation.
Alley answered first. “Why are you calling me at this time of hour?”
Steph leaned into the frame. “What did he do now?”
Matt tilted the camera toward his head.
There was silence.
Then laughter and hollering.
“WHAT.”
“Oh my GOD.”
“WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE SID FROM TOY STORY?”
Y/N burst out laughing.
“You shaved your head!?” Steph yelled.
Alley gasped. “I liked your hair!”
“I know,” Matt said. “Everyone did.”
Y/N leaned into frame. “I hated when he shaved his mustache. This shocked me even more.”
Steph shook her head. “I was not prepared for this.”
Alley sighed. “Well… it actually suits you really well Matt.”
Matt smirked. “Thank you.”
Y/N smiled, resting her head on his shoulder.
“See?” she said softly. “Still you.”
And that was all that really mattered.
Hellooo all! This story was very rushed yet I knew I wanted to publish it. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I had fun writing it. With or without hair, Matt still looks great. If you have any story requests please send them my way! I have been slacking on writing a ton but I am hoping to get back into it soon. I have a William Ekland fic in the works that I have to have out by the end of the week. We will see but for now, enjoy any of my current fics already published. Thank you for all the support! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
