drew is a defenseman, gabe is a right winger

they met going into the united states team development program at around 15-16 (also where the bc line started).

anyways i’m kind of starting this out as like a baseline but if there is one thing you should know about the usntdp kids is that they are attached at the hip. all the time. no matter what. they’re trauma bonded like CRAZY.

in 2021, drew committed to boston college (around the same time ryleno did), and i think gabe committed around 2022?

2023 nhl draft comes around and gabe is drafted 23rd overall to the new york rangers and guess what!!! drew is drafted 90th overall to the new york rangers!!!

(drew was a nyi fan growing up!! btw!! but he also played on the connecticut jr rangers as a kid)

drew on gabe post draft: “i haven’t talked to him yet, but it’s gonna be pretty cool.” / “now i’ll be with gabe on the rangers, so it’s pretty special.”

gabe on drew (2023 dev. camp): “yeah, it was unreal. i was sitting in the crowd and when i heard his name i was pretty pumped. so, i think it’s pretty cool, you know, we went for the ntdp, and now we’re going to school together, and, you know, hopefully the rangers one day, so it was awesome. […] yeah, exactly, he makes the transition kind of easier, having him, and i can go to him for really anything, so i’m thankful he’s here. […] he brings a lot of things to the table, he’s a big body d-man, good on both ends, and he’s also got a pretty elite hockey IQ so i think you can kind of see him when you see him but i’m glad he’s on my side.”

they won gold previously in u17s and u18s, they win gold at the 2024 jr world championships, etc etcccc

they play two years at boston college together before gabe signs with the rangers (here is an interview about drew being there for gabe’s first game!) and drew signed with the rangers this year:) gabe also stayed with drew’s family in the 2025 offseason:)

drew post-signing: “he’s one of my best friends, and kind of, when we both kind of got drafted here it’s like, oh my gosh, hopefully we can play together someday and for it to kind of come true it’s been really cool, and kind of like i’ve been saying, hopefully i can be back so i can keep playing with him. it’s been a blast so far.”

“‘It’s super cool that we’re both here together,’ Perreault said. ‘Hopefully, we can be here together for a long time’.” (there’s definitely a video interview to this that i had saved but i cannot find it for the life of me)

offseason 2026 they participated in the bc matching marmon outfits (1st photo), drew went on gabe’s birthday golf trip, they were both at the smith fourth of july celebration (2nd photos), and they were guest coaches at the jr rangers camp :)
