I finally successfully placed an IV catheter today on a cat to be euthanized. I held the cat while another classmate administered the euthanasia solution. This was the first time I’ve been involved with one of these and wow it really hit me. I didn’t think I would be so affected by it until it was happening. I’ve been able to distance myself so far so I could focus on learning but that was very very real and sobering and I had to walk away and cry for a little while. Being there for an animal in their last moments really puts everything back into perspective for you and reminds you why you’re doing this.
Starting a new school for my certification in August. I’m nervous, but so excited. I’m ready to study and acquire the knowledge to become a certified licensed veterinary technician with a degree

3 more weeks left of my internship!
We had an adorable puppy come in today and found these little guys in his fecal float. Unfortunate for the pup, but pretty cool that I was able to recognize them on the slide!
I’m also starting to plan out my class schedule this summer and fall, and I’m getting so excited for this next chapter. All the better that the clinic I’m working at right now has offered me a job on my days off 😉
Happy Veterinary Technician Week to all my fellow Veterinary Nurses out there. We do so much for our patients and only ask that they get better in return. I could not be more proud to call my coworkers my friends. Give a Veterinary Technician out there some love today and this week. They truly deserve it.
