Trash Box

I finally successfully placed an IV catheter today on a cat to be euthanized. I held the cat while another classmate administered the euthanasia solution. This was the first time I’ve been involved with one of these and wow it really hit me. I didn’t think I would be so affected by it until it was happening. I’ve been able to distance myself so far so I could focus on learning but that was very very real and sobering and I had to walk away and cry for a little while. Being there for an animal in their last moments really puts everything back into perspective for you and reminds you why you’re doing this.
