This is from Nerissa's Children. It's an AU where the Northen Pod accepted that Zac was born and they didn't have to leave. It's led to massive changes in Merpeople culture and living situations. This snippet is from after the time jump to where Evie has fallen ino the Moon Pool and has gained a tail instead of it being Zac.

Veridia took that moment to intervene. “As much as I would like for Mimmi and Zac to enjoy our company, they need to be briefed on the situation at Mako. I’m sure they'll come by later before they continue their journey.”

Odina nodded to Veridia and swam off, not about to disobey the Head of the Council solving the incursion of landpeople at Mako.

Once they were alone, Veridia gave Zac and Mimmi a once over. “I know Mimmi has received her moon ring and sufficient training in advanced magics. I trust Nerissa would not have sent you, Zac, without being equally capable.”

Zac raised his wrist out of the water, showing off a metal bracelet with a moonstone mounted on it. “It’s been a learning curve, but I’ve got a few unique tricks of my own.”

Veridia was clearly uncomfortable with the idea of a merman having a moonstone bracelet, but it wasn’t her place to say anything. Zac was one of the most powerful merpeople in all the oceans. If Nerissa and the Northern Pod felt it was appropriate, she was not going to speak out of turn. He would probably need it if the reports she was receiving from the dolphins were anywhere close to the truth. “Good. The landperson is a girl that fell into the Moon Pool during the full moon. The mermaids who were supposed to be guarding the island, failed to deter her and her father from camping on the island due to their bickering. When night fell, she went exploring and found a lava tunnel that led into the cave. The mermaids were too busy continuing their argument to realize what had happened and the girl saw them, the pool, and was so distracted that she fell in. We strongly suspect that she told her best friend.” Veridia took a deep breath. “We also believe it is likely that she has told her father.”

Mimmi gasped. “Are we also trying to erase the memories of the landpeople? Or are we just tasked with removing the girl’s tail?”

“It has been several months. I have strong doubts that any memory spell would be able to fully erase their memories without significant damage to them. But, if you find that it is necessary, the Council will understand.”

Zac nodded. “I can try on the girl, at least. I don’t know if I will have any effect on her father or friend. I will do my best.”

Deena Jakoub (Veridia) posted photos from her new jazz swing pinup group Satin Dollz's performance in Nashville yesterday. Amy Lee also appeared in the photos, coming to support her friend with a cute flower in her hair.

"Last night's show was incredible," Deena wrote in an Instagram post filled with photos of her friends. "I don't know what I would do without these amazing women in my life. Thank you for the overwhelming support, the giggles, the tears, and the endless joy you bring me.
