Union Public Service Commission conducts Combined Defence Services (CDS) for aspirants who wish to serve as commissioned officers in Navy, Air Force and Army. So, if you are one of them, then the first thing you need to do is check CDS eligibility criteria. If you are eligible for the required post then you must fill the application form for CDS 2 (the exam is conducted twice a year). CDS application form 2019 (2) will be available from June 12 to July 8, in online mode.

Before filling the application form of CDS, keep the following documents ready - scanned Images (photograph and signature), required educational certificates, One photo identity proof like Aadhar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving License and card details to pay the online application fee. Now that you have the required documents, let’s proceed towards the steps to fill CDS form.

First of all, you need to visit the official site of CDS - upsc.gov.in

Now, click on the CDS application form link

Complete your registration and fill up of the basic details

After that you need to select one exam centre and then you need to pay the application fee (For General - Rs.200 and for Female/SC/ST candidates - exempted)

After payment of fee, you have to upload the scanned images as per the prescribed specifications

And the last step is to click on ‘I Agree’ button i.e declaration form.

After successful completion of CDS application form 2019, the confirmation page will be sent on the registered email ID.

Also, while filling up the application form try not to make any mistakes as UPSC does not release any application corrections facility. Along with this, keep these points in mind if you are filling the application form.

You will have to apply online for CDS, as no other mode of application will be available.

While uploading photograph and signature you must ensure that the photograph and signature is as per the prescribed specifications as given in the notification.

CDS admit card for written exam will only issued if you successfully filled and submitted the application form.

CDS is conducted twice in a year. There are two stages in CDS exam - written exam followed by SSB interview. Candidates who qualify written exam are eligible for Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview which includes Personality cum Psychometric tests and Intelligence interview.

UPSC CDS I Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification The qualification required for all the three service is different. Army (IMA/OTA) – The candidate must have a graduate degree from a recognized university Navy – The candidate must have B.tech and B.E. degree Airforce – The candidate must either have a graduate degree in Physics and Maths in 10+2 or must have a B. Tech and B.E degree. Age Limit CDS 1 2019 Exam Age Limit For IMA: Male candidates born not earlier than 2nd Jan 1996 and not later than 1st Jan 2001 only are eligible. CDS 1 2019 Exam Age Limit For OTA: Male candidates (unmarried) born not earlier than 2nd Jan 1995 and not later than 1st Jan 2001 only are eligible. Unmarried Women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. Selection Process

Written Examination- This is the first & foremost stage of CDS selection procedure. SSB Interview- the Personal interview is the 2nd stage of selection procedure of CDSE and only the qualified applicants of the written exam will be eligible to take part in this stage. Medical Examination-  In this stage, the applicants will be tested on their physical fitness. The applicants will have to qualify this final stage of the selection procedure in order to get selected in CDSE

UPSC CDS I Exam Pattern

The total marks allotted for the written examination for admission to IMA, INA, and AFA is 300 marks. All the papers of CDS examination for above-mentioned academies will be of MCQ type (objective type) questions Subject Max. Marks Duration English 100 2 Hours General Knowledge 100 2 Hours Elementary Mathematics 100 2 Hours Negative Marking One Third (0.33) mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
