How to Prepare for NEET Counselling - The Directorate General of Health Sciences (DGHS), on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), will conduct NEET counselling via online mode. Candidates who secure the minimum qualifying score as per the NEET result will be eligible for counselling. A total of 80,055 seats in government and private medical colleges shall be allotted through NEET counselling 2020. Initially, candidates have to register for the counselling and lock their college preference via online mode. NEET 2020 seat allotment shall be conducted in two rounds, followed by a mop-up round (in case of vacant seats), candidates need to appear for the counselling conducted by state authorities. NEET Counselling 2020 - Key Highlights
DGHS will conduct counselling for 15% seats of All India Quota and 85% state seats
Substantial increase in the number of NEET participating colleges under All India Quota (AIQ) from 193 in 2019 to 235 in 2020
Hike in the number of seats available under AIQ from 4604 in 2019 to 4591 in 2020
DGHS will conduct counselling for Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and ESIC College from 2020 onwards. Earlier, it was the responsibility of IPU administration
Eligible candidates have to register for NEET counselling 2020 on MCC’s website (mcc.nic.in) within the stipulated timeframe
NEET qualified candidates who belong to erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir can participate in AIQ counselling for deemed universities
How to Prepare for NEET Counselling?
Candidates need to check the below details to ascertain the NEET counselling procedure-
1st Step: Registration
Candidates will need to register via online mode on the official website of Medical Counselling Committee (mcc.nic.in) Aspirants will need to provide basic information along with the NEET details for registration. After paying the NEET counselling fee (Rs 1000 for UR and Rs 500 for reserved categories) online, the NEET counselling registration gets completed.
2nd Step: Choice-Filling
On the choice-filling window, aspirants must choose their preferred institute(s) for admission. Candidates must lock the option to confirm the choice.
3rd Step: First Round of Seat Allotment
The seat allotment will be based on NEET rank of the aspirants. The registered candidates will be eligible for the first round of seat allotment. After seat allotment, candidates need to report at the allotted institute to complete the admission formalities. In case a candidate is unsatisfied with the allotted seat or wish to upgrade the choice, he/she can participate in the second round of seat allotment.
Second Round of NEET Seat Allotment
Candidates can do fresh registration for the second round of seat allotment. However, already registered aspirants do not need to register and pay the fee again. Candidates satisfied with the allotted seat can pay the security fee of Rs. 10,000 to confirm the seat. Free exit candidates can also participate in the second round of allotment. Aspirants who joined in the second round of All India Quota will not be allowed to leave the seat. At the end of the seat allotment, the non-allotted seat will be reverted to the state quota.
Mop-up Round
Aspirants who are unable to secure a seat in any of the rounds can register for the mop-up round of seat allotment. The result of the mop-up round will be available via online mode. Candidates who are allotted seat need to report at the respective institute. A Mop-up round on stray vacant seats will be conducted to fill the seats left due to non-reporting of candidates.
4th Step: Report to the Institute
After completion of seat allotment, aspirants will need to report at the allotted institute to complete the admission process. Candidates must check the comprehensive schedule of counselling to report at the specified date only.
Note:
No provision of upgradation will be available in the second round of seat allotment.
Candidates can exit with the forfeiture of tuition fee within two days of after the publishing of round 2 result.
Aspirants who report at the allotted after round two of seat allotment shall not be eligible to leave the seat.
Candidates need to present the following documents while reporting at the allotted college:
NEET admit card 2020
NEET scorecard or Rank Letter
Date of Birth proof (class 10 certificate and mark sheet)
Class 12 certificate and mark sheet
ID proof (Aadhar/PAN Card/Driving License/Passport)
Eight passport size photographs
Provisional Allotment Letter
Caste Certificate (if applicable)
PwD Certificate (if applicable)
