How do I get "certified”? Do you offer Level-1, 2, 3? What type of yoga do you teach? What system of Freediving are you? • • This style of thought has always agitated me; westernized institutionalism branded upon a holistic style of learning. We once viewed accomplished individuals as wise, skilled, or enlightened through the valor of their actions not by affiliation to a party or particular “system” or level. Today our teachers, instructors, political, and religious leaders wear a badge; Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kundalini, FII, PFI, PADI, Republican, Democrat, Catholic, Protestant (the list goes on...) What's the badge mean and is one system any different or better than the other? These systems each profess to be different, better, more advanced than others but has conformity ever encouraged flexibility in thought, innovation, or true freedom of self-expression? Rarely...A system by nature is built upon “fact” or dogma - which is ultimately perception. This perception grows in the heart of it’s followers and begins to become “truth” which then becomes the basis for institutionalized thoughts, policies, and actions. The very traits that make us great; creativity, innovation, radical self expression dwindle and die in haunting conformity ⚰️ • • I’ve adopted the “un-system” of learning and created a curriculum for Freedive Hawaii which represents a unique & constantly evolving style of thinking. A style which continually grabs bits and pieces of information from free-thinkers, world champions, record holders, scientific inquiry, master instructors, cross disciplinary activities, nature, and is then validated through my own personal experience and life practice. The bottom line - if you're passionate about learning, growing, and improving - then innovate, create, experiment, make mistakes, correct them, try again, and inspire others to do the same. Seek out teachers, instructors, & mentors who are passionate about learning, growth, and humble enough to make mistakes.
