Every so often I like to talk about a fanfiction I am reading and recommend it to people.

Today, I'm not only recommending one story, I am recommending an entire series.

23 stories in their series so far and counting. And there is still a lot more to come.

Not only has this author embarked on a thrilling rewrite of the series, they have written it so well that I am always eagerly awaiting the next part.

The best part is that updates are DAILY! What author manages to keep updating daily consistently for over a year?

I am of course talking about the series on A03 starting with the fic: "Two Tangled Sisters" which begins with the premise that Cassandra was taken to the Tower before Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel and then subsequently cared for Rapunzel and became an older sister. The first fic shows them growing up in the Tower and then covers the Tangled movie, introducing Eugene and showing their adventure as Rapunzel and Eugene fall in love, alongside Cassandra who just wants to protect her little sister.

The series has expanded from there, following through with how Rapunzel and Cassandra adapt to Royal Life (because Arianna being the most awesome mum ever decides to adopt Cassandra too and she becomes a Princess of Corona). It is fascinating following their journey together, and the different paths Rapunzel and Cassandra take in this AU.

It continues into The Coronation, with Rapunzel getting her hair back, and then onto a rewrite of Season One, Two and now Three. I cannot talk much about it but each story written so far has something for everyone!

There is so much this series has given! To this day, the season finale for season 1 still hurts me.

I love the character progression all the characters go through: they all shine in this series!

As a Eugene fan, I cannot express my excitement enough as to his future role in this series! I am so excited for it!

And, despite the series being called Two Tangled Sisters, Eugene has a big role in the series and his and Rapunzel's relationship does take centre stage.

There are twists and turns and rewrites of episodes! An unexpected pairing for Cassandra that I did not expect to want but now its there I am rooting for them! Such great development of all the characters and it shows what a great author we have for this series, for them to be able to tell such great stories and make a pairing work.

This series is so much more than just a Cassandra series. It is so much more than that. It is one of the best rewrites I have ever encountered in my few years in the fandom. The author has done the impossible and, as a fan who wasn't fond of Cassandra to start with, this series has certainly helped me see Cassandra, even in canon, with a new light. I cannot wait to see how this series goes!

I urge anyone not to brush this series off, to give it a try. You do not have to read every story in the series. The core set of stories following the series are enough, and there are multiple side-stories that add a bit extra to the characters.

I urge people to give this series a chance, whether you are a Cassandra fan or not - this series has something for everyone. And this is a series I wouldn't have read myself if I hadn't given a chance - and the only reason I did was because of the daily updates. I am so glad I gave this series a chance. It is 100% worth it!

Now, for some of you here, it will be very obvious which author I am talking about with this fic recommendation.

Unfortunately, this author has been, in some aspects, ostracised by the fandom in a lot of places. It's got to a point they still do not feel comfortable on tumblr, and this, to me, is very sad, because @twotangledsisters is such a GREAT PERSON to interact with.

She has become one of my favourite people on this site. Her writing, her opinions, her art are absolutely fabulous, and yet, people block her, excluding her from being able to interact with their content all because of her love of Cassandra from Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure.

@twotangledsisters is not just a Cassandra fan. She is a New Dream fan too but has been excluded from a lot of New Dream spaces because of her love of Cassandra and that is absolutely heart-breaking, that someone who loves this show so much, cannot fully interact with the fandom simply because they love Cassandra. If someone reblogs a piece of New Dream art that she likes, she finds out she's blocked from the original poster's blog so cannot follow them or see their other New Dream content.

It is sad and horrible to find out the way she did that people have done this to her. And how some people sent her horrible messages, telling her she was not welcome in New Dream spaces, when she absolutely 100% is WELCOME.

@twotangledsisters has so much love and care and creativity she wants to share with everyone but now feels she cannot. I am thrilled that she continues to produce brilliant artwork for my own fics! I'm honestly astounded by what she has produced so far for my fic: The Lost Prince!

Please everyone: be kind.

@twotangledsisters is a gift to the fandom and I feel incredibly proud to be calling myself her friend. She is awesome, and so is her fanfic series: Two Tangled Sisters.

That sounds like something Eugene would call them, probably as they walked into a room together a la 'hey look, it's Candycaine'! and immediately regret it when Caine asks 'what did you just call us?' but probably not take it back cause honestly it's too perfect.

I seriously cannot express how happy this makes me, call me a sucker for puns and wordplay (cause I am), but oh my goodness I love it.

If you were to go to Ao3 right now, what would be the tags, characters, pairings and fandom you search for??

What is your ideal fic?

If I went to Ao3 right now, my automatic search is Eugene Fitzherbert/Flynn Rider. I do not read any fic without Eugene in. If I love an author's work, I will look at their profile and see if they have anything there I might enjoy.

So, my automatic character tag has to be Eugene Fitzherbert. Pairings: NEW DREAM. Always New Dream.

Fandom, Tangled, obviously! :D When I'm in a fandom, I tend to focus on one fandom as a primary one. But say I was looking at Marvel fic, in fandom I'd look for Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies tag, as well as like the Iron Man tag and the Thor tag because each of those characters have their own fandom tag as well.

Tags... hurt/comfort, romance, angst, adventure.... etc Those are probably ones I look for.

My ideal fic: Oh, that's hard, but I'd have to say a fic with Eugene Fitzherbert in. New Dream pairing! And written well and an engaging summary to draw me in. Bonus if it has got Hurt Eugene Fitzherbert tagged.

It's genuinely refreshing to witness writers evolving and trying out new things within the fandom. I'm genuinely thrilled that you're still in the game. Hoping you stick around for the long haul!

On another note, I'd love to know what's cookin' in your creative kitchen. What's on your plate in terms of current works in progress or any future fics you're plotting? I remember you posting about it a while back, but, alas, my search skills failed me.

I think it has helped working with @tangledbea for Between the Kisses and my writing has slowly begun to improve from reading through her edits of BTK and then incorporating my new knowledge into other stuff I am writing to improve my own writing skills.

I have always enjoyed getting into characters and sometimes I can find it very difficult to get into the heads of certain characters!

I have no intention of leaving this fandom - at least not for a long time! (It will be three years in 2024 since I fell deep into Tangled fandom!)

What's cookin' in my creative kitchen? Oh, I have lots of ideas... First and foremost will be Tangled: Between the Kisses and my solo project of The Lost Prince. I am thoroughly enjoying writing TLP and I have quite a few spin-off fics in the works for that universe! I will be revealing more of those ideas closer to Christmas! I will reveal though that the series itself will be called: The Dark Kingdom Twins!

Myself and @twotangledsisters are working on a ModernAU of Tangled called Our Undying Dream which isn't your usual ModernAU rewrite. It will hopefully be surprising and interesting and it does start in the Tangled film timeframe. We hope to be able to share this fic soon but we want to completely write it first before we publish it. Due to our other projects, we work on it when we can.

My other works is a Team Awesome camping fic where Eugene and Varian are caught by bandits and when the bandits learn who Eugene is... well... he's in trouble and its up to Varian to save him! I hope to post this fic early next year. It should only be three chapters and the first chapter is drafted.

I am also working on two other stories.

The first is titled Uprising where Varian and the villagers of Old Corona rise up against the royal family at the end of season one! There is a twist in this fic which I hope will be surprising. At the moment, I'm not writing it due to other commitments, but it is on my list to write. Once the ModernAU and the Camping fic is done, Uprising will become a fic I will begin to focus on as I am really excited about this idea!

The second fic is one I have an idea for but no progress has been made yet. This is titled The Letter in the Lantern. What if Rapunzel had found the letter addressed to her during the Lantern ceremony? During 'I See The Light' I noticed that the lantern Rapunzel launches back into the air is the one her parents launched from the balcony! We know from the series that Frederic always wrote letters to Rapunzel. What if she found this letter? This fic will roughly be about 10 chapters and is on my list to write!

Trip of Disaster - Varian and Eugene are on a camping trip when disaster strikes when they are captured by Bandits. It's up to Varian and his alchemy skills to get them out of it!

The Letter In The Lantern - What if Rapunzel found a letter in the lantern during the lantern ceremony and realised that she could be the Lost Princess?

A Royal Wedding - A five-chaptered story dealing with the aftermath of Rapunzel and Eugene's engagement and the build-up to their wedding.

Uprising - What if the citizens of Old Corona rose up against the Royal Family? Dark AU of Secret of the Sundrop.

A fic co-written with @twotangledsisters It's a secret.

This is a difficult question to answer.

I have multiple WIPs and it really varies on the day. To make things simple, I am not including Haunted Revenge in this. I'm assuming you were referring to WIPs that are not posted yet.

At the moment, I am most excited about two fics that are currently in progress.

The first is Uprising. An AU dealing with the idea of Old Corona rising up against the Monarchy but my plan for it has changed and I'm really excited for what I've got planned so it may not be what people are expecting.

Yes she would have!

She was meant shown up in a S2 arc similar to 'Peril At High Seas'! I believe featuring Cass and Eugene as the lawful and not-so-lawful duo. In fact, that's why Caine's goodbye to Cass in S1 before reappearing at the finale is, well, a threat.

(I have a writing snippet of Cass teasing Caine about this somewhere)

Although when I wrote that I already knew Caine was reforming a bit faster than I initially intended. In my original plan for the arc Caine was strongly against Cass up until the very last minute where she showed the potential for change by releasing Cassandra all while claiming that it was more work to kidnap her than to let her go, that she'd served her purpose by getting Caine out of Corona.

But when Cass stood up to Captain in front of Caine... And when Caine apologised before the kidnapping... Sometimes characters have a mind of their own.

I kept the threat in, but I was still missing a piece of the S1 finale as I didn't know how Cass was going to be getting back to Corona, and when I realised Caine was that missing piece, all plans for her got re-designed!

Would they have ended up together? Well, it wasn't planned... But I find it so hard to imagine them not ending up together now I kinda want to instinctively say 'yes, their inherent chemistry would have just got them together sooner or later'.
