CassxCaine Art cause Pride
I couldn't let June end without making some new CandyCaine art. I love them so much. They make me happier every day.
I will be taking part in ArtFight 2026!!
I do every year but here's my reminder :D
I picked Team Tragedy because we all know how much of a sucker I am for a good tragedy, the amount of fics I meant to give a happy ending but could not help myself and made it bitter sweet or just bitter... it felt fitting.
Wasn't entirely sure how I'd make tragedy into a banner this year but I'm really proud of this design!
Still got some more page personalization to do but after that I can start bookmarking character and in just a few weeks it'll be time to draw!!!! AGH!!!!
Oh, here's a link to my page btw.
The temptation to let Caine escape Zhan Tiri just so she can be with Cass during Pride Month. (kidding, I've unfortunately already written every chapter that releases in June)
I've been grateful for this month for a number of reasons.
First, the excellent contributions by @nerdasaurus1200, @twotangledsisters, @stanleytherex, @flossy2003, @frozenwolftemplar and many others. I've enjoyed your art, your fics and your discussion posts. And I love how nice and supportive you've all been.
This month has also been helpful for me. I've been dealing with a lot, including poor health (both physical and mental) and filling out these prompts has been good motivation for me to actually get up and do something. The fic prompts were particularly helpful in this regard. There was so much I couldn't do, that was out of my control, but I sure could write something. Thank you so much for that.
It was also really nice to spend time celebrating Cass and revisiting all these aspects of her character.
Thank you so much @the-writer1988 for making this possible!

Cassandra Appreciation Month Day 28!
Oh man, last day you guys...I won't lie, I've been putting this off all day cause I don't want it to be over XD
I wanna give a big shoutout to everyone who participated. @majorabbey @twotangledsisters @flossy2003 @jy4stine @lefemmerougewriter @stanleytherex @sparkycanteven @frozenwolftemplar and so many more. You guys are awesome, you're troopers, you create such wonderful content and you are the greatest blessings to this fandom.
And a massive MASSIVE thank you to @the-writer1988 for putting this whole thing on, it was such a fun way to spend the month. Not that I ever really left but this...this has really gotten me back into the show. And it's reminded me how much I love the show and how much I love Cassandra as a character.
And at the risk of sounding cheesy, I love that this is what we chose to do. The artbook issue could've been another thing but instead we all came together and chose to let it unite us in the love of something. And I just think that's really beautiful.
Love you guys! Keep doing what you're doing!
Cassandra's Revenge and Race to the Spire...
@the-writer1988
Well, this is actually pretty timely because I was talking about this with @twotangledsisters recently. I had this idea (well, headcanon, really) that the moonstone is powered by negative emotions, particularly anger. Whether that is the case or not, Zhan Tiri seems to have a vested interest in keeping Cass angry; or, at least, keeping her focused on seeing Rapunzel as an enemy. So by this point, I'm assuming that Cass is full of rage more often than not; and when she's not, the sight of Rapunzel or any of her friends could be enough to set her off.
As for Rapunzel's power, I think Cass underestimated her. She was told Rapunzel had some of her power, and assumed that meant she was less powerful than Cass. She might not have expected Rapunzel to use that power against her, either.
As for killing Eugene? I think Cass is capable of doing serious damage, intentionally or not, simply because of the power she has. She definitely could've killed Eugene.
It's hard to say much more than that because I haven't seen these episodes in awhile. I can't remember if Cass really regrets her actions or not. I'm sure she did later, after her villain arc was over. But I don't think she's at that stage yet; and if she does regret her actions, she's not going to dwell on it. Zhan Tiri won't let her.
CUT chapter 6 from 'Through Due Process'
Publishing chapter 6 of Through Due Process today, but fun fact I actually wrote this chapter twice.
I didn't like the first one, I felt the pacing was off so scrapped it and started over.
But on re-visiting I realised it had some good stuff so here's a bonus chapter, I guess!
Cassandra Appreciation Month - Moonstone
Summary: Cassandra sits in her tower, waiting for her foes to come to her.
@the-writer1988
OH THIS IS GOOD.
Like, painfully good.
I always love further exploration of Cassandra's mental state during S3 because honestly the show didn't do the best job at doing it. Understandable given it's a kid's cartoon but god does the fandom provide.
This one specifically I love so much.
One of my theories about the Moonstone is that it enlarges any negative emotion (and perhaps the Sundrop does the same with positive emotions, it would explain how Rapunzel managed to be so happy even through Gothel's abuse). And this fic feeds into that theory nicely (which is a personal reason for loving the fic but one I thought i'd mention).
This fic specifically it feels like Cassandra's mind is almost fusing with the moonstone? Maybe that's an odd interpretation on my part. But like her forgetting Varian's name doesn't feel like something she'd do. No matter how blinded by anger she is. But to the Moonstone he is just 'that boy'.
It feels a bit like Cassandra is trying to fight to regain control, though only very briefly, with mentions of what she 'lost'. But she's also kinda leaning into this loss of control.
She's okay with the anger even she knows it's there.
I'm probably putting meaning not intended onto this writing, but that's because the shortness and perhaps to some degree vagueness is what makes is so good.
I love a piece of writing that five different people could read five different ways.
And this was a beautiful bit of writing.
Thank you so much!
I leaned into my own theories with this one. Things like Cass no longer needing to eat or sleep, being powered by anger and so on. Cass almost fusing with the moonstone (and a part of her trying to resist) is exactly what I was aiming for, so I'm glad you noticed that.
I like your theory about the moonstone and negative emotions. I was going with the idea that those emotions are what fuels Cass's powers. She has to be angry in order to fight. Zhan Tiri helps by reminding her of every injustice she's ever faced, or even providing her with some new ones. But it would make sense for the moonstone to enlarge those emotions.
OOOH, I love the trope of magical artefacts or powers that only work when feeling anger or some other negative emotion.
It's such a specific type of pain.
I had never thought of the Moonstone in that way but it makes perfect sense seeing as I don't think we ever see Cass using her powers not angry.
The few times she has the moonstone and isn't angry she either isn't using them because she's underground or because she doesn't need to.
hello cassworld sorry i stopped cassposting so suddenly :( some irl stuff happened and i didnt have much energy for drawing . anyway um .
heres a snippet of a cass wip!
the premise is its (hopefully, if i ever finish it) gonna be an au where cass finds rapunzel's tower 4 years earlier. heres some from near the very start. if shes ooc its bc shes an irritable 18 year old lol
OMG this looks AMAZING!!!!
I love these types of AUs. SO MUCH. Simple and yet make such a huge difference.
Love how you wrote teenage Cass. I always love an irritable teenager Cass, it feels so PERFECT.
I love how she refers to the Snuggly Duckling and going just to piss of her dad XD
I love the references to Maximus.
And I can see what's about to happen with that being Gothel and her following which feels like such a realistic way of this occuring.
Oh and the reference to Monty! I love all the little references XD
Love when fics are full to the brim of easter eggs to the show.
(this is my main btw i just dont rb on my artblog sorry lol)
ANYWAY THANK YOU!!!! i just think 18 year old cass- convinced shes a Proper Adult- and 14 year old punzie would be a really fun duo. punzie would think cass is SO grown up and cool and cass is trying to be all Im SO responsible Im helping this Average Citizen! just like a Real Guard(tm)
a bit before this is abt how cass has only recently hit 18 and so, since shes all properly grown up now for realsies, has been basically putting down applications to join the guard every day on her dads desk and hes just been like no. cass. not yet. so Thats part of why shes particularly annoyed. so shes kind of sulking out in the woods to avoid doing her handmaiden duties in setting up for the upcoming lantern festival lol
im slowly chugging away at this fic (not sure if its gonna be in chapters or just a Very Long oneshot just yet but . ig i'll see lol) so when its done i'll be posting it on my ao3 (maitiu) ^_^ and it'll be my 2nd tts fic yay!! and my first cass one <3
OMG, placing down applications EVERY DAY just to be told no each day XD
That is so funny.
I can totally believe both Cass and Cap doing that.
And I love when people lean into their age gap, those 4 years aren't much to like, older adults, but even in the show I think it shows. And 14 to 18 is like, older kid to young adult difference.
I'll subscribe to your ao3 cause I cannot wait for this to come out! (by which I mean I absolutely can wait, take your time, I'm just excited xD)

Cassandra Appreciation Month - Found Family
@the-writer1988
Summary: Cass has returned to Corona and she's attending her family's Christmas party. But does she really belong there? She's not sure...
TW: Birth mention
A/N: For clarity's sake, this takes place roughly nine years before my last fic (the "Kidnapped" prompt).
Oh my goodness I love this.
For the first part my heart was just sinking the entire time, I was worried about the bird because I guess disney has taught me to never trust mum's to stay alive and especially distrust births xD
But glad that came out okay!
But also my heart was sinking for Cass. The subtle shift from the actual words and looks of guests to her own guilt and thoughts and doubts was extremely powerful and had me genuinely upset (in a good way, in the way angsty writing is meant to upset you).
People saying adopted kids aren't their 'real' children will never not fail to infuriate me. And who are you to tell a family who their real kids are??
And the ending!
It's so sweet and it reminds me of how you're supposed to introduce new siblings irl. Because you never want them to feel like they're being replaced. And while Cass is technically old enough to know better, her own life experience has that fear always at the back of her mind. And yet they manage to brush it away.
Loved this.
Cassandra Appreciation Month - Kidnapped
(Alt. prompt for Knight)
@the-writer1988
Summary: When her son is taken, Cassandra is forced to take action.
TW: Death, blood, injury
Oh my goodness I love this.
I'm a huge fan of first person narration when it's done well and this is PERFECTION.
I loved seeing this peak into Cassandra's future. I love the guilt, the guilt she felt about letting something happen to her son, which seemed far greater to me than the guilt of her past.
Which makes sense, her past is far away, right now she's a mum and this is her child.
I loved how cautious and confident she was with her skills.
I loved her not showing mercy. Hearing the motivation I thought she would but no, Cass is a mum and she's also a Captain's daughter, this is someone who's obviously spent a lifetime searching for vengeance and will continue if you let them. And they started by touching her son. It makes so much sense she deals with this problem quickly and efficiently.
I feel bad for everyone here.
And that's the beauty of it.

Cassandra Appreciation Month Day 14- Legacy
Now whenever I hear “legacy” I think of kids. And I have a bunch of fankids for Cass. So here’s an old fic I remembered the other day featuring Cass and one of her sons!
~~~~~
Cassandra yawned as she sleepily lumbered out of bed. Normally she was the biggest morning person in her growing family. But with taking care of her toddler Ronnie and two sick seven year olds, she’d been getting far less sleep than usual.
“Morning, Mama.” She heard a little voice say when she entered the kitchen. She perked up at the voice, and smiled when she saw which of her little moonbeams had decided to rise with her.
“Morning, Orion.” Cassandra greeted softly, “Why are you up?”
“It’s raining. And I like the rain.” Orion answered simply. That was true, Orion did like the rain. Ever since he was a baby, the rainfall always seemed to calm him down.
“It’s been raining for a while now. Do you think the roads might flood?” He asked.
“If they go on for another hour, then maybe.” Cassandra answered as she prepared a cup of coffee for herself, “Which means I’ll have to work from home with you and your Daddy and siblings.” Cassandra sat down by the window next to her son and she could tell he liked that idea from his little smile. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly as she took in Orion’s face in the dim stormy morning light.
“It looks like the color in your face is finally coming back.” She observed, “How’s your head feeling, moonbeam?”
“Less buzzy and achey today.” Orion answered, then his brow furrowed in thought, “Hey Mama?”
“Hm?”
“If it’s raining and pouring, who’s the Old Man? From the song.” He asked, looking up at her with his sweet green eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Cassandra laughed a little to herself, “I’m not sure moonbeam.”
“Is it Pop Pop? He snores sometimes.” Orion mused.
“It could be any old man, honey.” Cassandra replied, and pulled up Orion into her lap. Orion smiled up at his mother and gave her a tight hug.
“Did you know that when I was your little brother’s age, I used to sit in this very spot all the time?” Cassandra told him.
“Really? Why?”
“I liked to look out the window. See if there was anybody coming, or if there were any animals outside.”
“Like a lookout?”
“You could say that.”
“I could be a lookout then!” Orion declared proudly, “Just like Jerry does at school! And I could watch over Carina while you and Daddy work!”
“Orion, moonbeam…all you need to worry about it making sure you get better.” Cassandra instructed him.
“Yeah but Carrie’s my baby sister…and I want her to get better too.” Orion pouted. Cassandra had to blink to keep herself from crying. Poor Carina had been just as sick as Orion this past week, and no one was sure when she’d get better. None of them could even figure out what it was.
“She will, moonbeam. She’s strong.” Cassandra took Orion’s hand and gently squeezed it, “Like you and your brother. And like your father, and all your other siblings. She’s a Padare. And a Schulz. And you can never get rid of us that easy.” Orion listened intently to his mother’s words, and nodded firmly.
“Thank you Mama.” He whispered as he hugged her again.
“You’re welcome moonbeam.” Cassandra whispered back. For a while, mother and son just sat there by the window watching the rain and singing to themselves,
“It’s raining, it’s pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He went to bed and bumped his head and he couldn’t get up in the morning.”
Cassandra Appreciation Month - Lost Siblings
(Alt. Prompt for FITZHERBERT!!!!)
@the-writer1988
Summary: Cassandra's got a new sister living with her - a biological one. It'll take some getting used to.
A/N: I had to fall back on the Disney Descendants universe for this one, because Cass does, indeed, have a "lost sibling" there. So there are references to the Isle of the Lost etc. But this is primarily a story about Cass and her sister. I hope that's okay.
Fanart of Of Knights and Villains by @frozenwolftemplar
I am such a SUCKER for little Cass fics and honestly @frozenwolftemplar does most of my favourite ones.
And this one I really enjoyed!
So today I felt like sketching, and I thought it's still Cass Appreciation Month so I should definitely continue to show appreciation not just for Cass but to the authors that helped make me obsessed with her!!
I'll probably finish this sometime in the distant future, but I didn't feel like doing a full drawing today and have a busy few months coming up so I wanted to share the sketch now and not months later.
I hope you like it :D
Also I still can't draw children.... so if she creeps you out, that's fully valid and on me xD
Oh, I more than 'like' it; I love it!!!
I've always loved seeing your fic illustrations and this one is so sweet! It perfectly captures the vibe of the fic (you even got Mine in there!). And I love Cass's expression; exactly the face she makes when the grown-ups are being unfair and teasing her!
AAAHHH And the cover of the book! 😃 And the way you drew Cap! 😃 And I know it's a weird thing to get excited about but I can't get over the positioning of their hands! Like, something about them looks so natural and lifelike I can't get over it!!! 😃😃😃
Really, really love this (if you can't tell lol); thank you so much for sharing it; I am beyond touched you liked that fic so much 💙💙💙
I'm so glad you love it! <3
Mine is a main character in the fic! OF COURSE he needed including (otherwise Cass might direct that expression at ME and I don't think I could handle it as well as Cap does xD).
For the book I had so much fun just looking up old fairytale covers and modern but vintage looking ones for inspiration! And the hand I have to give full credit to just, references XD posing is hard but sometimes I'm lucky enough to find the ideal reference image and it shows.
And thank you again for writing and sharing such an adorable fic with us! I always love your little Cass fics, and many of them I've read numerous times because they're my go-to for when I need a quick read before bed or while sick. (funnily enough I'm much like little Cass in that I'll happily re-read the same thing hundreds of times XD)
