A bit serious but I think it's interesting how many scarier villains in older kid's shows resemble real life predators more than most villains in their shows do. Dick Hardly, Freaky Fred, part of what makes them unnerving is how.. real they feel compared to other villains. They feel like an actual threat, even now as those kids have grown older.
I also think that serves a purpose, and more modern cartoons should do this as well. It gives an example of a bad guy that's real, giving kids things to look out for, showing kids that people like that in real life probably aren't right.
ACK SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT I GUESS THIS GOT BURIED IN THE NOTIFICATIONS 😭🙏
YES!! I love this topic! I love discussing things like this- Those kinds of villains just hit different. They're not goofy, "I'm gonna punt a kid across a football field and they're okay afterward" they're "I'm going to make you feel absolutely violated without ever being in the room with you" and that's so fucking creepy. Theres a different kind of hatred for those kinds of characters. Makes for much scarier villains, WHICH SHOULDN'T BE ALL THE TIME that'd just traumatize kids, but I think kids should be introduced to that kind of creepiness in a safe cartoon so they know how to recognize it in real life if that makes sense? Like oh no! This guy is acting like Freaky Fred! He might try to shave my head! Courage was scared of him, I am now scared, you know?
Modern cartoons just, dont do this? They dont really do much of anything besides flash bright colours and junk- not all of them? but the ones I've seen my little cousins gravitate to are like that. I think cartoons should continue to teach lessons like that so kids will have a better idea of what to avoid rather than cheesy bad guys. Like you said, they need to know how to look out for real bad guys, unfortunately
Please block @/restarttheworld, they interact with a few of my mutuals and think pedos sexualising fictional children is ok, and it’s children’s responsibility to be safe from predators on the internet

Maybe it's just me but I find it kinda ... "Ehhhh I don't know if you should do that" feeling, when people use someone else's art as a pfp which they either didn't ask permission for or didn't commission/receive on patreon. I know some people are ok with it and that's there rules, but I get kind of uncomfortable every now and then I'll see pictures of my own art from facebook being used as a pfp or being used as someone's character description/design in their roleplays ... I know younger kids will do it because they don't know better but still seeing full grown adults do it without leaving any credits in their bios feels odd.
Like, would you screenshot someone's written work and share it without any tag or indication as to who made it? Not usually...
This is excluding stuff made from picrew or other avatar makers, though credits are nice and should be added.
In my experience, most of the people I've asked about it apologized and added credits or changed it to something else, but every three months or so I'll have the one person who has a meltdown and gets furious with excuses.
I know most of these people are probably younger kids who don't know better yet, which is why we as "old" people should still teach them "internet etiquette" like this and other things including "it's uncomfortable and awkward to ask a creator about your fanon ships", and also "harassing creators with really personal questions that they don't want to answer."
Oh and trust me, I was there too. Live and learn and try to bleach the memories of junior highschool out of my brain.
(On top of this, seeing this kind of behavior online immediately alerts creeps to "this person is young I'll try to manipulate them" and it's a whole clusterfuck from there.)
