i saw a markiplier video this morning (i think it was an interview) that was him discussing how one time during unus anus he genuinely punched a wall out of anger, and how it made ethan uncomfortable etc, and how he then went to therapy to discuss why that had happened.

and honestly i think that really shows through his writing of simon. something that really stuck out to me in the iron lung scenes where simon got angry is how both justified but immediately guilty those scenes feel. it’s a very visceral mood to the scenes, the one that especially comes to mind is where he smashes the speaker.

i think these scenes really touch me cause i struggle with lashing out a lot due to trauma, and it scares me. those scenes with simon feel the same and i think they really capture it. like the timeline of immediate gratification from the release of emotions so quickly followed by this overwhelming guilt. the absolute silence afterwards that feels like a punishment. it’s really just beautifully done, and seeing that interview w mark feels like being seen.

especially with the shame or fear of judgment that comes from dealing with that sort of anger, it’s especially heart warming to see so many people understand that it’s not on purpose, and to see from mark that you can grow and adapt around that, and that it’s not wrong to talk about it.
