Thornthwaite Crag, Lake District
I timed this afternoon's walk to coincide with the passing of the cold front and the banishing of all that mild grey filth southwards......and emerged onto Lendrick Hill at the perfect moment to see......SUNSHINE!!!!! I hung around up there for ages simply because it was COLD!!! Gawd it felt amazing. Welcome back, autumn!!!!Â
Ten people have died on Everest this week, mainly because they have been queuing in their hundreds to reach the top.
That is just silly.
I have climbed to the top of Ben Nevis and stood on the trig point, and so been the highest person in the UK. That is enough for me.
The big advantage of climbing Ben Nevis is that it does not have a Death Zone.

I felt like I'd been transported to a scene from Star Wars yesterday, what with two suns in the sky. It honestly looked like this....but I promise you, it has a totally rational explanation. When I posted it on Twitter there were loads of theories and suggestions such as sun dogs, but it’s actually much more mundane. Just a reflection off Loch Tay way below, but because of the fog it looked like a globe.
