I need mutuals to start watching The Lakes. Please its so good, its 14 episodes total, everyone sucks, there are very little plotlines that i I'd say were handled poorly.
Its about small community getting struck by tragedy and the complicated lives of the people in said community, the women are incredible, there is one in particular that is so Klaasje coded like she is the most Klaasje a woman has ever been in my eyes. I swear its so worth it the fandom is inexistant i have no one else to talk about this show with. Im usually so hard on media and especially with shows but this one handles very serious topics in ways that are so arghrgrh, like when some of the things were introduced i was fully ready to put down the writers if it turned out bad but it didn't its fucking great.
Theres a guy named Danny, he sucks, but somehow he manages to be the second most decent man in that whole town. Lucy is The Character to me like her dynamic in season one is so interesting with the way it plays with s1's themes and then they fit her in s2's so fucking well like i don't want to say more because this needs to be watched spoiler free. There was one episode in season 2 that made me genuinely sick to my stomach like this was peak in a way that very few things have managed to be in terms of my own enjoyment. At some point i kinda forgot Danny was the main character because we were following so many intricate plotlines about the women that he faded in the story for a bit
