"Wow, this is very..." Harris did not finish the sentence, looking around the Kingfisher with wide eyes and an even wider, slightly toothy smile which told Troy he was trying to avoid saying something unkind.
"...masc." Harris gave him a smile. "But that's fine, I just wasn't sure what to expect of a gay sports bar. It's cozy though."
"You'll like it, they have great food, too." Troy hooked his arm around Harris' waist. "Come on, I think I see them."
He led Harris through the bar to a booth which currently contained Scott Hunter and his husband Kip, as well as Eric Bennett. Kip spotted them as they walked over, and waved excitedly.
"Oh my god, it's so nice to finally meet you in person!" He exclaimed when they reached them, and squeezed by Scott to hug Harris. Troy knew they'd been texting here and there for a while now, probably complaining about their MLH husbands.
"Same to you!" Harris squeezed Kip, returning the hug, then shook Scott's and Eric's hands. "Very cozy place you've got here."
It was witchcraft to Troy how easily Harris slid into social situations without being awkward. He, too, greeted them before they sat down.
"Don't get me started," Kip sighed, "so much needs to be done in here. That's our summer plan."
"My summer plan is to go to Mykonos," Scott joked, "You can come or not."
Kip stuck his tongue out at him, but reached out to squeeze his shoulder. Scott grabbed his hand and pressed a kiss to his palm. Troy enjoyed how at ease everyone was here. It was one of his favorite parts of the Kingfisher.
"So, how do you like New York, Harris?" Eric Bennett asked, his voice calm and kind as usual.
Harris gave him his 1000 watt smile, which always had Troy a little jealous when someone else was on the receiving end. "It's fascinating. Don't think I could live here, I'm a country boy at heart, but it's great for a visit."
They chatted away, and the New Yorkers made space for Harris and Troy in their booth. Just before Troy could sit down, two hands landed on his shoulders, squeezing.
"My favorite patron," Kyle purred, giving Troy a hug from behind.
"And his boyfriend," Troy said, almost automatically, before turning around and giving Kyle a hug. For some reason, Kyle had zeroed in on Troy from the first second he had set foot in the Kingfisher with Roz all that time ago.
"Oh, even better!" Kyle pulled back, and immediately spotted Harris. "Wow, so nice to finally meet you, Harris!" Kyle very openly gave Harris a once-over while Harris smiled and waved at him, seemingly not bothered by the flirtation.
"Stop it," Eric groaned with a chuckle. "And I thought I was your favorite patron."
"You're my favorite boss." Kyle blew Eric a kiss.
"A lot of enmeshment going on here," Harris joked.
"Girl, you know it." Kyle gave an exaggerated sigh. "What can I get you?" His eyes widened. "Oh, you're the cider guy, right? Oh my god, we need to talk later."
A satisfied little smile appeated on Harris' face. "Yeah, let's talk. And I think I'll try the Scott Hunter?" He gave Scott a glance; Scott rolled his eyes with an embarrassed laugh. Kyle had, by now, come up with a list of cocktails all named after queer hockey players.
"Always a good choice." Kyle gave Harrris a wink.
"Agreed," Kip smirked. "How long has your family been making cider?" They very quickly devolved into an animated conversation about cider, which Kyle joined once he returned with their drinks.
"Ah, they've got it now," Scott gave Troy a little lopsided, fond grin.
"Just fair, considering we usually talk about hockey for two hours when we meet up here," Eric commented with a shrug, taking a sip of his lime and cucumber water.
"Yeah," Troy agreed, watching Harris tell a story, gesturing animatedly as Kyle and Kip both laughed. "Give it two hours and they'll have come up with a whole new concept for the bar."
"It could use it," Eric said.
"It sure could," Scott sighed. "I'm going to Mykonos either way, though. We'll pay someone to do the reno."
"No way Kyle is leaving that in someone else's hands," Eric said, sounding fond.
"Luckily you're not beholden to the season schedule anymore, then." Scott held out his beer and clinked it against Eric's glass, making Eric smile.
Next to them, their three boyfriends stuck their heads together as Kyle was showing Kip and Harris something on his phone.
"...it's not even going to take two hours," Scott said.
"No." Troy shook his head, a small smile tugging on his lips. His heart was full of fondness for Harris. "Harris is the most efficient person in the world, after all."
