Putting some first renditions of these guys under the cut. I doodled them almost immediately after I started reading the mangas and took years to properly draw them all lol

Personally, it used to be Yellow chapter, I liked that it always felt like the protagonists were always under attack and seeing them manage to escape danger, plus that battle with Lance and Yellow on top of Cerise Island's volcano was iconic.

But I feel things felt even tougher for the protagonists in XY. While the Kanto E4 had their henchmen, Flare literally owns Kalos and has so many people in their pocket the protags just never feel safe, and like they can only trust each other, and even that gets tested a bit with the Essentia Suit. (It's also the biggest contributor to why Flare is my favorite villain team now. They really built on how much power they had as an organization and a lot of their attacks on the kids had a brutal or psychological edge that made them scary, and seeing them getting their asses collectively whooped in the finale was super satisfying.)

These two are the very two that got me into Pokémon in the first place, so I’m honouring them by drawing this. THANK YOU SUN AND HAU! I love them so so much. I dearly hold onto them.

IT'S RIGHT HERE BABY!!!! Also Idk why I said Sun his name is Elio I was just too preoccupied with Cole-isms I guess. I got Moon right though that's still her name.

Elio is a member of the Ultra Recon Squad! He's from Alola, and after trying to save a popplio from getting swept away in the tides of a bad storm when he was little, they were both pulled into an ultra wormhole. His family thinks he drowned that day.

In typical faller fashion, Elio lost his memories, but still retained some of his knowledge of pokemon and battling, so he and his partners Primarina and Nagandel were able to join the Ultra Recon Squad despite how young they are. Elio is also Moon's half-brother. Shortly after Elio's presumed death their mom moved to Kanto and married Moon's dad. Moon didn't even know she had a brother because their mom never talked about him, even after the divorce and going back to Alola. He's about five years older than her.
