ABSOLUTELY I CAN!! i love transmasc!zia with all my heart and he is canon to me always

main thing to know is that rr almost certainly didn't intend for zia to be read that way. it's a reading i and some of the people from tkc discord like, and that i personally really adore bc i'm a transmasc myself.

the main reason for the hc is that in all of the hosts of gods that we see in the trilogy, the gender of the god pretty much always matches the host's gender. carter and horus, sadie and isis, walt and anubis, julius and osiris, amos and set, hell, even whatever vladimir and that snake had going on. the exception to this is zia when they host ra.

zia's journey is interesting, because they're a fire elementalist, and that's something we know from the get-go. but! nephthys takes zia as her host in the beginning of trp. the "real" zia literally has to be put into a magical coma and hidden away by iskandar, for fear of their safety if the rest of the per ankh would find out, but also, clearly, bc zia isn't a good host for nephthys.

there's no real basis for it in actual egyptian mythology, but in tkc, nephthys is the goddess of rivers, among her other actual domains (like sleep and mourning). when zia wakes up, they violently reject nephthys, a water goddess.

time goes on, and later in the series, zia finally does host a god again, this time, someone who they vibe with a lot more. ra, god of the sun. he's associated with fire, which is clearly more natural to zia, but he's also. a guy.

the "transgender allegory" goes that zia violently rejecting a water goddess and finding themself in a fire god is like. gender identity.

Hmm, that’s a tough one because like... my specialty is Greek mythology and of Norse mythology I just know random assorted facts and of Egyptian mythology I mostly know that which intercepts with Greek mythology. Roman mythology is primarily mixed with Greek and Etruscan so I know a good bit there but...

I’d have to say MCGA because like... the entire plot was wrong. That isn’t how Ragnarok works so the entire threat of the books is just inaccurate. I’m working with @icelandicflutterby now to plot out an actual plot line that fits the myths for the rewrite since I’ll be including MCGA at some point (probably after mixing up the timelines a bit).

I don’t know enough about Egyptian mythology to tell how accurate TKC might be (I know enough to know it’s very complicated because Egyptian mythology is very old and vast) and I haven’t seen any breakdowns from Kemetic Pagans (I would actually kill for one) to base my knowledge off of.

The Greek and Roman stuff was very messed up, especially how the Roman stuff was just treated as Greek Lite. It’s complicated because Roman mythology is primarily based on Greek mythology, but there’s also the big differences in culture and beliefs that influenced it and the Greek Gods ended up combined with the Etruscan Gods for it, and the Etruscan beliefs had a big influence too so like... you’ve gotta remember that when you work with Roman stuff and Rick didn’t.

Please, please, can people accept that?

Please stop acknowledging that she's white-passing and then erasing the fact that she POSSIBLY looks predominantly white. I am a predominantly white-passing biracial kid who will never, ever pass for mixed or black ever in my entire life, who has been told since I was a baby that I don't look like my sister who looks more black/mixed than I ever will, who was raised and surrounded by the black members of my family since I was born, who remembers exactly one interaction with my dad's parents, in which I was super uncomfortable and didn't speak to them, and probably prefers to befriend non-white people because of that.

I think of Sadie as not looking black under any circumstances for very personal reasons, ever since I realized she was mixed. Because of that, I view her in the same strain as myself: wavy-straight hair and lightly tanned skin that cannot go more than a shade darker from what it is naturally no matter how long she spends in the sun. People who say she is one hundred percent white are definitely in the wrong, but people who personally view her and/or draw her as looking siginicantly white and not at all mixed or black are not. People who draw her as being pale are not in the wrong. People who draw her with straight-straight hair are not in the wrong. Not every mixed race person looks like a perfect blend of their family and it personally feels super sketchy when everyone insists that Sadie must not look predominantly white in order to be acknowldged as mixed but that Carter doesn't have to look light-skinned or have different texture hair in order to be percieved as mixed.

Yes, people should ask themselves why they don't see her as having black features or why they see her as significantly white-passing but doing so is not inherently a bad thing when she was stated to be white-passing (and taking after her mom? who is very white?) and predominantly white-passing kids exist.
