the thing about the term "theyfab" is not that it's the most offensive slur I've ever heard or been called. It's not particularly creative or interesting or vicious. The main thing about "theyfab" is that it's cringe. every time I hear it I think wow, it's so fucking cringe that you just used that unironically. are you serious? are you okay? because that was the most cringe thing I've ever seen. And I'm literally a furry.
I'm not necessarily hostile to nonbinary identities but I find myself much less dysphoric having cut out the 'queer' spaces from my life. A few years ago when I first started coming out I was fairly gung ho in defense of nonbinary and I still maintain, theoretically, that a 'third' or 'middle gender' is a sensible extension of transgender.
However over the past couple as I've gotten to know multiple, AFAB NBs as acquaintances and fellow members of certain groups or social spaces I've found very little empathy for actual *transsexual* experience. I couldn't count on both hands the number of times I've had someone who presents as a woman, is received as biologically female in public and even uses 'she/they' pronouns has felt the need to lecture me about my own experiences.
I know quite a few binary trans woman, some of whom have been legitimate activists who feel similarly. It's easy to dismiss the feelings of a lot of binary transwomen as the bigotry of transmedicalists or 'truscum'.
I am happier for having cut out the *genderqueer* end of the 'trans spectrum' from my social life. It's too frequently that NB people are unpleasant to deal with and domineering when it comes to discussing trans experiences.
