Helpless part 75, so I never really knew you
The preator of Rome knocked on the door of the Artemis cabin, barely breathing. She knew she had to do it and hated every bit, the daughter of Bellona didn't often take orders but the thought of losing him over this, she couldn't bare losing him let alone of something as meaningless as an apology she couldn't mean. She would try but she knew it wouldn't change anything, not the past or what she'd said, not the hatrid the daughter of Zeus would bare after it.
"Who is it?" A soft, broken voice had responded, so unlike the confidence she had presented herself with, the strong and protectivness had been replaced with tears and broken sobs. Reyna hated herself for being the one to do that, hurting enemies in a fight was honored but this was disgraceful. Of course past Roman's may have disagreed due to the actions which had lead her to it, then again maybe disappointment would be all the same; they would have said to kill her.
"Reyna." She whispered back through the door, half hoping she wouldn't hear her or at least not hear the regret in her voice. She didn't even know what she had regretted, attempting an apology, the talk with Jason, what she'd said to the crying girl or the very act of showing up at Camp Half-Blood.
"What are you here to call me a d*ke again? Maybe to tell me I'm disgusting? Come up with a new slur to yell at me? Maybe a whole array of Latin curses, I'd love to see you get creative, maybe even show off your power and actually fight me, I'd enjoy electrocuting you, maybe a nice arrow through your neck as well. Just fvck off, don't fvcking come back here you b!tch!" Every word was spat out, yelled through tears and threats which she knew wouldn't be hollow. She took a breath before speaking, her mind screaming at her for every word but she knew it was the right thing, she thought it was the right thing at least, then again only because it was what he'd told her.
"I'm sorry, what I said was wrong and I know it's not enough but I really am sorry. I know you'll hate me and you have every right to but if there's any way I can make it up to you I'll try to." There was silence for a moment until she heard the lock on the door turn, Thalia Grace opening the door slightly with only her red eyes visible through the crack.
"I don't know if I can believe you."
"I don't deserve your forgiveness." She bit her tongue to stop herself from rambling on another apology, that wouldn't do anything, she wouldn't guilt her into forgiveness.
"Come inside." So she did, sitting down next to her on the only bed that had been used in months.
"I-"
"No, not your turn to talk, I have things to say before you start going off with your excuses." She nodded, slightly startled but not showing it on her face. "I don't forgive you, saying sorry doesn't change what you said and it doesn't change how much you made me hate myself. I know you're only here because of Jason, he put you up to this didn't he? Of course he wouldn't word it like that but obviously he made you do this because what you said yesterday isn't something you take back so quickly. I know you're probably going to give some sort of excuse but I don't care about that, I just want you to be honest. If you're doing this to save your neck with Jason or the Hunt or whatever you can fuck off and never come back." The daughter of Rome fiddled with a hair tie that she'd left on her wrist, unable to think of the words to say. "Not so quick witted now are you, don't come in here with your fake ass apology if your not even going to try and play the part. I'll tell Jason what you want if it'll get you to fvck off, that's what you want isn't it?"
"I really mean it, yes Jason talked to me but I do mean it. I would say it's how I was raised but that isn't an excuse, I had years after becoming preator to change and I didn't. I was stuck in what I'd been told from people I knew not to trust and I hurt people because of it and I am really sorry."
"If you act on it you'll be forgiven but I know you're type, like the gods, you'll say you'll change but you never do. Prove me wrong."
"I'll try Thalia." With that she left, unsure of what she was meant to do next.
