Want to make a difference without doing anything different?
Well then oh boy do I have a thing for you!
If you haven’t heard of Tab For A Cause, it’s a nifty browser extension that makes your New Tab page into a way to generate money for charity.
It’s literally that easy. I will be honest, I hadn’t thought to post here about it until this month’s featured cause, which is planting a tree for each new TFAC user, but I am Actually passionate about using this extension and have tried to get friends to join before.
How does TFAC generate money?
As the saying goes, if you’re not paying for a product, you Are the product. That’s kind of how TFAC works, but not in the sense that you’re selling your soul to them.
Every time you open a new tab, with the TFAC extension, your New Tab page displays a few ads. They’re relatively unobtrusive. There are no video ads, no popups, just unobtrusive little ads in the corner. You can completely ignore them. The point is, when those ads load on your page, the companies running the ads pay money to TFAC and that money goes to charity.
That means you can go about your everyday life, just minding your own business, and help earn money for charity. This is the perfect way to contribute if you’re like me and have difficulty with other types of charitable contribution. For instance, I don’t have enough money to sustain myself, never mind donate. I’m also disabled so going to protests is not in the cards. However, I open new tabs all the time.
How does it work?
To start, you can get the extension by clicking my referral link here. If that link doesn’t work, you can get the extension for Firefox here and the one for Chrome here.
After adding the extension to your browser, you can make an account. This account tracks your progress on any computer and any browser you’re logged in to.
The way TFAC tracks your progress is that each time you open a tab, it gives you a heart, which represents the money you earned in ad revenue for the tab you opened. You can then choose which cause you want to donate those hearts to, which means you get to decide where the money you’ve earned goes.
I currently have over 700 hearts just sitting in my account because I like to wait for showcased causes that mean something to me and nothing recent has caught my eye. But, for instance, a few months back, when I first started using TFAC, the showcase was for blm protest arrest bailouts and attorney fees and I was donating every heart I had to it. The showcases usually last for the month and then switch out for something new.
TFAC can also look however you want it to, more or less. It displays any showcase in the center of the page, the ads to the bottom right, your settings, heart count, and the overall money donated through TFAC in the top right, and bookmarks and note taking widgets in the top left. However, while these things remain the same, you can choose any background you want for your tabs. I currently have mine set to a side street in Seattle because it feels like home while I’m far away in PA. Here’s what a new tab looks like:
You can change what widgets you have displayed in your settings, which look like this:
The settings also let you control what search engine you want to use when using the TFAC searchbar as well as time format.
If you want to change your background, you can do so in the background part of the settings, which looks like this:
It allows you to use photos from a link source, which is great, because you can then find a beautiful photo that’s free for people to use from a stock site like Unsplash, which is sourced from photographers who want to share their work. Try searching your favorite location or an aesthetic you like on there and you’re sure to find nice pictures for TFAC or other things.
If you’re passionate about one of the causes TFAC is always partnering with, you can donate even when the showcase isn’t up your alley. Here’s a zoomed out screenshot of the causes they have available all the time:
And, last but not least, you can also see your stats. Here are mine, for example:
Now that I’ve shown you all how straightforward Tab For A Cause is, I hope some of you will consider adding it to your browser to help make a difference without having to donate your own income or even leave your desk. For someone who wants to make a difference, but doesn’t have a lot of resources to do so, this is the perfect compromise
TFAC - Steel Plate
I disagree to use MY OCs as yours at any RP, Instagram account and any other social media. If I'll know you do it without any warnings I report you. Sorry for the not nice start but I had a problem with art thief a few months ago. I would like it not happens again well when I'll draw any TF OC I gonna add this info + my watermark at the place where is impossible to delete or avoid. Okay, here we go. Like probably you know most of my Transformers OCs belong to my Universum TF Autobot City (Universum TFA but much later). Last time it's slowly dying what just makes me unhappy. I love fandoms of Warframe and Transformers but also I need a bit my personal space where I don't have to care about the lore of Universum. I start to dislike one of the main character Steel Plate. From another hand she was still my fav well I look for a solution to this problem. Probably like you remember I made a tons versions of her look but much later I finally understand it was not the real problem but her personality. I don't want to have a cry baby OC as one of OCs who I like the most. Well, here she is - a new Steel Plate what you see at this picture. Of course, she needs a new story and I have to change much stuff or EVERYTHING at her story and character + the story of Universum TFAC will be changing too. But I'm sure peoples not really care about what happened at my AU well I will do it slowly. Just for myself. Thx for reading!
If you follow me at Instagram you probably saw this picture faster. I had a reason to do it. Let me explain it a bit.
Okay, some old pictures from 2015/2016 what I would like to redraw.
1) Alternative universe Generally, all my OCs belong to my Universum Autobot City but sometimes I like to think what if... Welp, here Steel belongs to Optimus Prime’s Team after the end of season 2. She was a medic of Decepticons on Earth but after destroying the space bridge she was ‘free’ but stuck at The Earth. She didn’t have any better option than strat life in the old fabric. Ratchet wasn’t happy that the team had a 2nd medibot. First time Sari’s key take his job, now she was the new ‘danger’. Cuz’ Steel is a weak person she just afraid Ratchet. Yeah’ she knew a lot of stuff cuz’ she was a medibot/scientist but her weak personality just destroy everything. It would be an interesting story.
The rest are just random pictured. Some depressed teenager phrase, some sleepy stuff. Just draw for fun.
Some music at the end of day

TFAC Dolce Vita (only head)
A new character to my Universum - Dolce Vita. Maybe I change her name to others but now I like it how it sounds.
I can not tell much about her. Like most of my OCs live at Autobot City with her older brother Flawian/Fuzzy Flame. Femme with a strong temperament, mad very easily and usually strongly dislike when something going not like she would like to.
I used the color palette of my Saryn Prime from Warframe.
For created her, I used linework at Gimp 2 to remind myself how to use it... and I hate it. I don’t believe I was able to use it when I started drawing a few years ago ._.
But still this is better than nothing
Prowl’s Facepalm
Yey, I did it!
Not pretty good, I know. A lot of work in front of me but I try don’t worry. It’s my first animation in this style and ate 2 days work.
Uh oh, uh oh... A lot of work.
Probably next will be traditional or just lineart. I don’t know. The most important stuff does not stop at this but makes a next, and next, and next even if won’t look good at the start.
For now... Just crappy 1sec animation
Thinkin about redesigns her ( again +1000 time).
