Firefox, with privacy settings and extensions, cripples a lot of major web sites. Especially on mobile.
This is working as intended for me.
If trackers, ads, and sketchy cross-site services are so integrated into a site that it collapses when they're removed, I don't want to use it.
I bump up my font size because my eyes are falling apart. This, too, breaks many sites. If they don't care about even basic accessibility, I don't want to use them.
Firefox makes evil sites so painful it overcomes their pernicious convenience and drives me to find alternatives.
I'm looking at you, Yelp.
Limit web search to just before AI
This might cut some good sites, but it also cuts pages of AI slop that I got tired of reading (I blame the Amazon Affiliate Program)
If you're tired too, your browser probably lets you edit your search engine details.
Do this in firefox in settings -> search -> add search engine and paste this into the 2nd box: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s&df=1995-01-01..2022-07-12 then save. It's not for every search but it's my default now. Other search engines have their own method. Results stop on the day Midjourney went public.
Cheers.

In its first "state of open-source AI" report, the Firefox maker lays out its vision of an AI industry that doesn't belong to a handful of c
As well as being a picture of the open-source ecosystem in 2026, the report is at least partially a piece of advocacy for Mozilla’s anti-concentration-of-power agenda, too, according to Raffi Krikorian, Mozilla’s chief technology officer. “I don't want seven AGIs, one for every single one of the big companies. I want seven billion AGIs,” Krikorian says, referring to artificial general intelligence. “I want us to each have an AGI that's truly on our side, not on someone else's side.”

Secure your Firefox browser with our step-by-step guide to the top 15 privacy settings. Block trackers, disable telemetry, and enforce HTTPS
15 Privacy Settings Every Firefox User Should Enable Today 2026 Guide
Hardening Your Browsing Environment
Firefox remains a top choice for privacy-conscious users in 2026, but default settings often prioritize convenience over maximum protection. By shifting your configuration, you can effectively neutralize tracking and minimize data leakage.
Set Enhanced Tracking Protection to Strict mode to block cross-site tracking cookies and fingerprinters.
Enable Global Privacy Control to automatically signal your privacy preferences to websites.
Activate HTTPS-Only Mode to ensure all your connections are encrypted and secure.
Managing Data and Permissions
Reducing your digital footprint involves limiting what the browser stores locally and what it shares with third-party services. Taking control of these granular settings prevents unnecessary background data collection.
Disable telemetry and data collection features within the privacy dashboard.
Clear cookies and site data upon closing the browser to stop session tracking.
Turn off automatic form-filling for credit cards and addresses to prevent local data harvesting.
Advanced Protection Strategies
Beyond basic toggles, you can leverage Firefox features to isolate your activity and harden your defense against sophisticated tracking techniques. Using built-in tools keeps your personal information segmented and protected.
Utilize Multi-Account Containers to sandbox your social media and shopping sessions.
Configure Secure DNS over HTTPS using providers like Cloudflare or Quad9 for private lookups.
Remove unwanted search suggestions and disable personalized recommendation settings.
Install essential extensions like uBlock Origin and Cookie AutoDelete to add extra layers of security.
