Stitch Witch advice: My grandmother told me to never sew a quilt when angry or upset or that intent goes into the stitches. She said to only put good intentions into your work on a quilt and they will stay forever, a part of the quilt as much as the thread. (...I think my grandmother was in the broom closet.) I started to make this quilt for a jack frost winter prince contest in 2015. I was excited and happy and trying my best (I didn't win tho, but thats okay.) Then I went through some horrible stuff, my life was upended, and I was on short term disability for months, and didn't touch the unfinished quilt. For nearly 18 months. Then my life got infinitely better, and improved well over even the life I had before. The contrast is kind of amazing. Only a little while ago did I pull it out and finish it, while I was calm and content and feeling quiet joy that lent well to a creative burst. Its now my comfort blanket because when I pull it out, all I remember is the happiness I felt. I feel protected and safer under my star-and-snowflake sky. My next quilt I intent to stitch sigils into.
