My question is about the best way to describe the character from someone else's POV. It's a historical fantasy setting, and the POV character is seeing someone with albinism for the first time in their life - it's likely they aren't aware of the condition at all. Do you have any tips? Are there any things you wouldn't want to see in a description?

Good question; this actually happened to me too, where I was actually the first person with albinism that poeple saw, so I can talk from my experiences.

So usually, people are confused for the most part. They think I either bleached my hair or am just naturally platinum blonde/white haired? But when they found out this wasn’t the case they kinda asked questions and such, sometimes asking kinda offensive things too? Like ‘oh are you a vampire’ or something like that, the worst was when people would ask me if I was ‘Satan’s child’ or tell me that I was going to hell and such? (I used to go to private Catholic school, I stopped going when I was in fifth grade) so that could be okay, if you deflected off of it with ‘no they aren’t a child of Satan’ and don’t keep bringing it up. Another thing I would try and avoid is like, the evil albino conception? Try to avoid having your character fall into that trap. It isn’t good for the albinism community.

Positive things could be like, having your character be able to explain their condition and such? It depends on how far ago this takes place, for example, if I was alive during say, the witch trials, I would’ve been killed because of my albinism. But if this was say the 1800’s, I would probably be looked at as just someone with a disability or something. So do some research on the timeframe your story takes place and try and make it work with the different ways your character would be treated.
