Beard knows people tend, rightfully so, to see him and Ted as a package deal. He doesn’t want Trent to feel obligated to love him.

Trent is thrilled when he's invited out to dinner with Ted and Beard one Thursday night, and even more delighted when it becomes a weekly thing. It's not helpful for his crush on them. If anything, it's making it worse. But Thursday nights become too important for him too worry about it too much. Yes, he's basically platonically (?) dating the two men he fancies, but that's a problem for future Trent to figure out.

Beard doesn't know what to expect when he shows up on Ted's doorstep, drenched with rain, backpack loaded with whatever he could grab while Jane pelted him with books. Perhaps pity – he knows he probably looks just as pathetic as he did showing up and his door back in Kansas all those years ago. Probably empathy. He knows Ted's never really liked Jane, knows Ted has been worried for him for quite a while. What he's not expecting is to be greeted by a cozy-looking Trent Crimm, in a pair of sweatpants and one of Ted's favourite T-shirts. Or, the story of how Willis Beard gets everything he's ever wanted and never dared to hope for.

Ted and Beard argue over who is a better kisser, as homies do. Trent is somehow made the referee. Surely this won't be weird at all. Or: How to break Trent Crimm's heart with seven simple kisses. And fix it with a few more.
