Peter Hook and the Light at The Wiltern Theatre L.A. 11/9/19
Back in L.A. for the latest round of the Hooky plays New Order records in their entirety. We're on Technique and Republic on this tour. I still listen to Technique a lot but Republic wasn't an album I listened to very much before a couple of summers ago when I made a huge New Order playlist that I listened to on repeat. I've decided that I should only see Hooky play at the Wiltern because these shows are so good. The crowd is the best and you never know who is going to come out to play with the band. There was a lot of crowd singing, which you know I love. (The best during "Round and Round, "Mr. Disco", "Regret", "World", and "World in Motion".) WIM was so fun as Hooky had someone come out to do the rap portion and the entire crowd were "singing for England". The Joy Division songs in the encore are always a wonder. Hooky had Fred Sablan come out and play a few during that part of the set. I, of course, was most moved by "Ceremony", which gets me all in my feels. And before LWTUA, Hooky told us it was for Ian. It will always be for Ian.
