Callum switches roles with Claudia, which means that he is the young (dark) mage

Act 1

In this AU, after Queen Sarai’s death, Lord Viren took Prince Callum under his wing and taught him Dark Magic from a very young age. Over the years, he became more than just Lord Viren’s apprentice, but also the child Lord Viren wished he had been born into his family (since none of his children want to do Dark Magic with him). Still, Callum has a good relationship with his Step-Father, King Harrow, but not as good with his half-brother, Prince Ezran, because he doesn’t like Callum hurting innocent animals for Magic.

After his children run away with the Dragon Prince egg, Lord Viren sends Callum to get it back before they reach Xadia. Callum uses Dark Magic to track them to the Cursed Caldera, where he reunites with Claudia and Soren. Callum had a crush on Claudia, but she rejected him, not just due of the age difference, but also because Claudia had learned of her father’s intentions to start a war against Xadia, which she could not allow to happen. When coming back to Katolis, Callum instigated an attack towards a dragon, but unfortunately makes the problem escalate to almost burning the kingdom. He regrets this actions as Soren gets paralyzed and Claudia does Dark Magic without experience to save him. Luckily, Callum gets comforted by Ezran, who despite their differences, he still cares for his brother.

Callum initially is supportive to Ezran when he becomes king, however, he gets disappointed when Ezran doesn’t release Lord Viren from prison and rejects going to war against Xadia. Because of this, Callum decides to conspire with Prince Kasef in order to get his brother to abdicate the throne. After Lord Viren becomes king, Callum becomes the crown prince of Katolis and uses the sun staff that Lord Viren had stole to fight against Xadia’s forces.In the aftermath of the battle, he tries to trick Ezran and Soren with an illusion of Lord Viren, but fails and gets banished from Katolis by his brother for treason.

Act 2

During his 2 years of exile, Callum became Aaravos’ pupil and began dating the ghosted MoonShadow Elf, Rayla. He successfully resurrects Lord Viren, which causes Callum to gain a white streak of hair. Callum, Lord Viren and Rayla go on a quest to get Aaravos out of his prison before the resurrection spell expired in 30 days.

They manage to track the prison on the Sea of Castout, where Callum goes to retrieve the prison, while Rayla stays on shore with Lord Viren, because of her fear to water. There, he faces off against Claudia, Soren and Terry. Unfortunately, Callum is forced to flee when Soren cuts his leg to save Claudia and Terry destroys the potion that allowed him to breath underwater.

Luckily, Aaravos manages to contact Callum and tells him of the spell to make Lord Viren’s resurrection permanently. He does it by killing the being that guided them and gains his Dark Magic form with new additional white streaks of hair. Lord Viren gets permanently brought back to life, however, he gets a change of heart and decides to surrender to Katolis. Callum pleads him not to leave, but Lord Viren still goes in hopes that someday Callum walks the same path too.

Rayla comforts Callum by helping him change his hairstyle and build a MoonStone talisman to create an illusion of his leg, allowing Callum to walk again. They go to Katolis together to see Viren, only to find the kingdom being burned into ashes and Viren dead once more. There, they find Aaravos’ prison and free him.

Unfortunately, Callum and Rayla’s relationship has a fallout when she finds out he used her to get to the Garden of Innocence. Thought Callum apologizes to her, Rayla decides to break up with him. Despite this, Callum keeps loving her and refuses to hurt Rayla even when she stands in his way to reverse the Moon Nexus.
