A Very Neglected Exercise: Outdoor Step-Ups. I’m amazed I don’t see more people doing this type of exercise outdoors. It can be performed anywhere, it’s fun & very effective. It also adds a little variety to that basic walk or run that you’ve been doing. When first starting out, try the movement from the side of a bench like I’m doing. Eventually progress to the front of bench where in my case, there is more height. As both leg strength & balance improve, you can then progress to driving the knee of the “free” leg up towards the chest, pause, then return it to the ground. Try a few sets of this exercise during your next #walk or #run - it’s great for building hip & leg strength.
