"The magic performed by witches is frequently either sympathetic or contagious. Sympathetic magic works by using a stand-in for the person who is the target of the magical act. Under this umbrella term, fall the use of poppet, bread baked into the shape of a person, or acts performed on a graven image. Contagious magic is similar but works on the principle of proximity: the use of hair or fingernails can bind the charm to the person for whom it is intended. In addition, placing the charm near a person or their property can confer the properties of the charm onto the target. The nature of these workings need not be baneful; charms worked via sympathy and contagion can bring blessings of protection and luck just as easily."

"When you work spells, how do you deliver them to their target? What techniques and methods do you employ to make sure they can get to where they need to go?"
What part of the spell would this be? The sealing it?
I'd wager somewhere beforehand, during the "programming" phase, or while you direct/teach/instruct the energy to do what it is you want it to do.
Banishing spell for rude customer:
>Charged red peppers
>Charged candle
>Some olive oil to stick the peppers to the candle (ventilation concerns already taken care of)
>Used napkin cleared from customer's table (perhaps more likely, little notecard filled with every bit of identifying info you can manage)
At some point you combine all of these things. Try starting your targeting at the very beginning. Ofc I don't know how you work, but like:
"These red peppers are to burn Craig, *reading from notecard* the customer who comes into [Sandwich Shop] every weekday at 12:45. *Visualizing his stupid smarmy face and feeling all your disgust*. This man I see in my mind's eye is who I target. This feeling of disgust is the road that leads to the man I banish.
"Just as I bind the peppers to the candle, so do I bind the spell to Craig. Just as Craig inevitably orders a turkey on rye, so does this spell inevitably chase him from the doorstep of [Sandwich Shop]."
(Or maybe you've got a really excellent taglock like the napkin. Well I'd still say do all of the above; I really focus on targeting, I think it works well! But then if you had the napkin, maybe:)
"As I rub this napkin on the oil-free candle I have yet to anoint with peppers, the spell sniffs his scent like a bloodhound; as his gross fucking mouth touched this napkin so will his mouth burn with the disgust I feel towards him, and his mouth and hands will burn when he thinks of [Sandwich Shop], and he will never return."
Regardless of what you have for targeting, whether it be information or a nice taglock (you can be creative also - sweeping up their footprint dust, or sticking up some dust on a piece of tape; capturing their shadow in a mirror, printing off their linkedin profile, etc.), I find the following tricks to also help:
Place any taglock, including a notecard of information, nearby the spell as possible. Of course we couldn't put the napkin on the candle, so just place it underneath the candleholder, or incorporate it in any way possible (drawing a sigil on the napkin, etc).
Deploying the spell as close as possible to the target's physical location. In many situations it is reasonably impossible to leave a spell vessel near to someone. But I would not fuck with any witch who finds Craig's car in his work parking lot across the street and tapes a sigil underneath the tailpipe, or leaves a broken stick with a string tied around it near the entrance to his office.
(Imagine anon if we only did this work during the spell sealing. "Now that I've created a totally generic banishing spell, by the way, this all goes to Craig, that guy I hate. Here is when he comes into the shop:." It has far less zing, although it can be done.)

Introduction
A taglock stands as a fundamental element of spellcasting, bridging the material world with the energies, places, and people practitioners seek to influence. A taglock is, at its core, a tangible object that establishes a direct link to a specific target. This object serves as a conduit through which energy can be directed, manipulated, or harnessed in various spellwork and ritualistic practices.Ā
The term "taglock" itself is derived from the concept of 'tagging' or marking something with a specific identifier, and 'lock,' which implies securing or anchoring a connection. Thus, a taglock effectively anchors the essence or energy of a person, place, or thing to the practitionerās ritualistic focus. This tangible item could be something inherently connected to the target, such as a personal belonging or a biological sample, thereby ensuring that the magical workings are precise and targeted.
History
The use of objects to establish a connection with a person, place, or entity is a practice that can be traced back to ancient civilizations. The principles underlying taglocks are fundamentally tied to the broader concepts of sympathetic magic and animism, both of which have been integral to human spirituality and ritualistic practices for millennia.
Ancient Civilizations
Mesopotamia and Egypt: In ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures, magic was an integral part of daily life and religious practice. Objects such as amulets, talismans, and personal artifacts were often used to protect, heal, or curse individuals. These items were believed to carry the essence or influence of the person or deity they were associated with. For instance, in ancient Egypt, hair, nails, or pieces of clothing were sometimes used in magical rituals to exert influence over an individual, embodying the early concept of taglocks.
Greece and Rome: The Greco-Roman world also embraced the use of personal items in magic. The Greek Magical Papyri, a collection of ancient magical texts, includes numerous spells that call for the use of personal objects such as hair, nails, and garments. These items were believed to create a sympathetic link to the target, enabling the practitioner to influence them from a distance. This practice reflects the underlying principle of sympathetic magic, where "like affects like," a foundational concept for the use of taglocks.
Medieval and Renaissance Europe
Folk Magic and Witchcraft: In medieval Europe, the use of personal items in folk magic and witchcraft was widespread. Cunning folk, wise women, and witches often employed objects belonging to their clients or targets in their spells and rituals. These objects served as conduits for magical influence, much like modern taglocks. For example, poppets (dolls representing individuals) were frequently stuffed with hair, nails, or clothing scraps from the person they were intended to influence.
Grimoires and Magical Texts: The grimoires and magical texts of the Renaissance period also provide evidence of the use of personal items in magic. The "Key of Solomon," a well-known grimoire, includes instructions for using personal items in rituals to bind or influence others. The "Malleus Maleficarum," a notorious witch-hunting manual, documents the belief in and fear of witches using such items to cast spells.
Indigenous and Non-Western Cultures
African Diasporic Traditions: In various traditional religions and spiritual practices, the use of personal items for magical purposes is common. For example, in Vodou and Hoodoo, personal items such as hair, clothing, and personal effects are used in rituals and spellwork to create a link to the target. These items, often referred to as "personal concerns," function similarly to taglocks by establishing a direct connection between the practitioner and the individual they wish to influence.
Asian Traditions: In Asian cultures, particularly in traditional Chinese and Japanese practices, the use of personal items in magic and healing is also prevalent. In Chinese folk religion and Taoist magic, personal items are used in rituals to heal or protect individuals. Similarly, in Shinto practices in Japan, personal items can be used in purification and protective rituals.
Modern Revival and Adaptation
Contemporary Witchcraft: The modern revival of witchcraft, particularly since the mid-20th century, has seen a resurgence in the use of taglocks. Contemporary practitioners draw on historical and cross-cultural practices, adapting the use of personal items to fit modern magical frameworks. Books on witchcraft and magic frequently discuss the use of taglocks, emphasizing their importance in creating a tangible link to the target.
Neo-Pagan & Occultist Movements: Neo-Pagan movements, such as various forms of Wicca, have incorporated the concept of taglocks into their practices. These movements often emphasize the importance of personal connection and the use of physical objects to ground and direct magical energy. While these practices have evolved, they continue to reflect the ancient principles of sympathetic magic and the use of personal items to establish a magical connection.
How do Taglocks Work?
Energetic Connection and Sympathetic Magic
In the practice of traditional witchcraft, the efficacy of a taglock lies in its ability to establish a connection between the anchored spell and the target. This connection is primarily rooted in the principles of sympathetic magic, a foundational concept that posits that objects can influence one another through their inherent similarities or direct associations; as well as energetic entanglement, the process through which identical energetic compounds can interact without direct spatial contact.Ā
Sympathetic magic operates on the premise that a taglock, due to its intimate connection with the target, acts as a proxy or representative. The energy directed towards the taglock is believed to transfer seamlessly to the target, facilitating the intended transformation or influence. This is often articulated through the maxim "like effects like," underscoring the principle that items connected by similarity or direct contact can impact each other even when physically separated.
The energetic link established through a taglock is akin to an invisible thread that connects the practitionerās will to the target. This thread is not a physical entity but an energetic conduit through which influence flows. The strength and clarity of this connection depend on the nature of the taglock and the amount of genetic material it carries. For instance, a strand of hair or a piece of clothing with trace amounts of skin cells creates a more potent connection than a mere photograph or written name. This is due to the energetic compounds that are unique to each personās genetic sequence and their higher probability to be energetically entangled. While a sympathetic connection works well in most situations, having an energetic connection is significantly more reliable.
Incorporating Taglocks into Spellwork
Anchoring is a necessary step in the utilization of taglocks, involving the establishment of a lasting connection between the taglock and the target within a spell. This process entails affixing the taglock firmly to the desired magical outcome, thereby ensuring that the energy directed through the taglock manifests effectively in the targetās life. Anchoring is not merely about physical attachment but the energetic binding of the taglock to the spell's energetic design.
To anchor a taglock, the practitioner must first select a taglock that has a strong and clear connection to the target. The effectiveness of anchoring is directly proportional to the relevance and potency of the chosen taglock. The next step involves ritually preparing the taglock. This can include cleansing the taglock to remove any extraneous energies, thereby ensuring that it is a pure conduit for the spellās purpose. Common methods of cleansing include using elements like water, fire, or salt, each method tailored to the nature of the taglock and the spell.
Once cleansed, the practitioner imbues the taglock with the desired energy through a ritual. This may involve chanting, the use of symbols, or the invocation of natural forces to charge the taglock. The ritual acts as a ceremonial binding, infusing the taglock with the energy necessary to enact the spellās purpose. During this process, the practitioner focuses intensely on the connection between the taglock and the target, reinforcing the energetic link.
Finally, the taglock is integrated into the spell structure. This can be achieved by pulling an energetic conduit from the taglock and into the spellās anchor. This way, a solid circuit can be established. The key is to position the taglock in a manner that aligns with the natural flow of energy, ensuring that the spellās influence is directed towards the target with minimal resistance. Just placing a taglock into a jar with other elements has a chance of establishing its own energetic connection, however it is not very likely.Ā
Unbinding Taglocks
Energetic Dismantling
The most effective method of unbinding a taglock is energetic dismantling, which requires the careful and deliberate dismantling of the energetic connections that have been established during its use. Energetic dismantling is a method that involves consciously deconstructing the energic structures and pathways that link the taglock to its target. This process ensures that the influences exerted through the taglock are effectively neutralized, preventing any residual effects from lingering.
The practitioner utilizes their energetic awareness in order to visually and mentally map out the energetic connections emanating from the taglock. This step is crucial, as it allows for a clear understanding of how the energy has been structured and directed. Once these connections are identified, the practitioner then introduces energetic compounds that are of the opposite frequencies of the energetic connections. This will cause the energetic connections to cancel out and become inert.
After all the connections have been severed, the practitioner proceeds to cleanse the taglock to remove any residual energy. This can be done using elements such as water, salt, or incense, depending on the nature of the taglock and the preferences of the practitioner. The cleansing process ensures that the taglock is fully neutralized, rendering it inert and free from any remaining influence.
Anchor Destruction
Anchor destruction is a more direct and often physical approach to unbinding taglocks. This method involves the literal destruction of the taglock itself, effectively dismantling the anchor that connects it to the target. Anchor destruction is particularly effective when the taglock is a physical object that can be easily manipulated or disposed of.
The first step in anchor destruction is to identify the nature of the taglock and choose an appropriate method of destruction. For physical objects, this could involve burning, breaking, or burying the taglock. Each method carries its own symbolic significance and energetic impact. For instance, burning a taglock in a fire ritual symbolizes purification and transformation, reducing the object to ashes and dispersing its energy into the air. Breaking the taglock into pieces represents a forceful severing of the connection, while burying it in the earth signifies grounding and neutralization.
During the destruction, the practitioner may recite incantations or prayers to reinforce the unbinding process, so long as they do not cause the practitioner to break their state of gnosis. This could serve to solidify the practitioner's will and direct the energy towards severing the connection. As before, cleansing is also recommended afterwards.
Cord Cutting (Not candle divination)
Cord cutting is a technique used to sever the energetic cords or ties that bind the taglock to its target. These cords represent the strings of fate, or channels through which energy flows, maintaining the connection established by the taglock. Cord cutting is a powerful method for releasing these ties, allowing both the practitioner and the target to move forward unencumbered.
To perform a cord-cutting ritual, the practitioner begins by grounding and centering themselves, creating a stable foundation for the work ahead. The taglock is then placed before the practitioner, and a clear intention to sever the energetic cords is set. This intention is crucial, as it directs the focus and power of the ritual.
A common tool for cord cutting is a ritual knife or athame, though other tools such as scissors or even oneās hands can be used depending on the practitionerās preference. The practitioner then uses their awareness to feel for the energetic cords extending from the taglock and uses the tool to cut through these cords. Each cut is made with deliberate precision.
During the process, the practitioner may also employ visualization techniques to enhance the effectiveness of the ritual. This could involve imagining the cords dissolving into light, evaporating like mist, or being absorbed back into the earth. These visualizations help to solidify the disconnection on both an energetic and psychological level so long as one is aware that visualization in and of itself is not a spell nor energy work.
After the cords have been cut, the practitioner performs a cleansing ritual to purify the space and themselves. This ensures that any residual energy from the cords is fully cleared away, preventing any unintended consequences or lingering attachments. The taglock, now devoid of its energetic ties, can be safely disposed of or repurposed as desired.
Cord cutting not only releases the target from the influence of the taglock but also frees the practitioner from the energetic investment in the spell. This liberation allows for a fresh start, unburdened by the previous connections, and opens the way for new magical endeavors.
Taglock Alternatives
Taglock alternatives are useful in situations where obtaining a physical item linked to the target is impractical or impossible, such as when working at a distance or in covert operations. Methods like visualizations, sigils, memories, elemental representations, and astrological correspondences may still establish a sympathetic link to the target. However, these alternatives often lack the direct energetic connection that taglocks provide, making them less efficient. The inherent uncertainty and reduced potency of these methods can lead to weaker or less reliable spell outcomes, requiring greater effort and near flawless spell design from the practitioner to achieve the desired effects.
Sigils and Symbols: Creating a unique symbol or sigil that represents the target can be a powerful tool. This symbol can be charged with energy and intent to direct the spell's effect.
Visualization Techniques: Instead of using a physical object, practitioners can employ detailed mental images of the target. This involves deeply focusing on the targetās attributes and characteristics during the spellcasting process.
Memories of an individual or location: Using specific memories that encapsulate the essence or identity of the target can serve as a focal point. Repeatedly recalling or chanting the targetās name or a descriptive phrase can help direct the spell.
Elemental Representations: Associating the target with a particular element (earth, air, fire, water) and using that element in the spell can establish a connection. For example, water could be used to represent a person with a flowing, adaptable nature.
Astrological Correspondences: Using the astrological sign, planetary influence, or birth chart of the target can provide a non-physical link. Aligning the spell with specific astrological times or planetary hours that correspond to the target can enhance the connection.

There's a lot of discourse around baneful magic, hexing, chaos magic, jinxing and curses.
It's not that I want to actively encourage those practices, but all witches should know what items are used for in spells, especially if they're using advanced magic. Here's a short list of items I see used in hexes and such (no herbs!)
As always, please do your research on all ingredients in a spell in order to source them ethically.
Poppets ~ This is an item used to signify a person in a spell. You can make them out of just about anything, but I most commonly see people stitching their own dolls or using paper cut in the shape of a person.
Taglocks ~ I feel like people get Taglocks and Poppets confused. Taglocks are actually items, sometimes personal, that create a link to a certain person in a spell. This can be as simple as a photo of them, an item they left behind, or even something from their body, like hair or nails.
Graveyard Dirt ~ This is dirt obtained from, you guessed it, graves and cemeteries. Inserting my own opinion here, it's difficult to obtain Graveyard Dirt from the source ethically. In fact, prancing into a graveyard with a shovel can probably get you in a lot of trouble. Some alternatives here can be taking sticks or rocks from a gravesite (NOT anything on someone's grave) or even taking the soil from beneath a dead plant. Always leave an offering for the spirits.
Iron ~ Typically you won't see straight-up Iron listed as a spell item, but you may see rusty nails and other sharp, rusted items. Iron is used to attract and repel, so it can be used to attract negative energy to someone while repelling it from you.
Broken Glass ~ If you're able to safely collect glass after breaking an object, see if you can save it! Broken glass is great for protection in spells. A good example: if you cast a binding spell on someone, it can help prevent them from retaliating.
By no means is this the only use for these objects. In fact, many items used in baneful magic have uses in protection spells as well. Always do your research, especially to ensure you are not impeding on a closed practice of another culture, before attempting to cast ANY spells.

I have a question for you it's kinda contraversial. I know basics of binding spells but what if the person has passed can you still do one and what is it you need to do one?
Heya~
Yeah you can most certainly still do a binding even if the person in question has passed. Traumas are still valid even if the tormentor is no longer present.
As for how to bind I'd say regular bindings should work okay, although you might need more specific tag locks to make sure you've got it solidified.
Ideas for specific taglocks:
A memento from said person
Graveyard Dirt
Write a letter releasing all your thoughts about said person
Their name
Their Obituary
Something that reminds you of said person (Their favorite color ect ect)
My Binding and Taglock Tags JIC you need other ideas.
I hope this helps please let me know if I can expand on anything!
Many witches believe that the human body is sacred. Whether theyāre pantheists, animists, or somewhere in between, most magical practitioners agree that there is some sort of divine or magical essence contained in all living things, including our bodies. But if thatās the case, why do so many witches hesitate to use parts of the body in their craft?
Part of it is the āickā factor. Western society is shaped by religious and cultural influences that tell us our bodies are unclean, gross, or even scary. In order to comfortably work with the energies of the human body in magic, we have to unlearn these cultural influences.
This post covers the uses of human effects (materials that come from the human body) in witchcraft and magic.
Why Use This Stuff, Anyway?
By far the most common use of human effects in magic is as a taglock. A taglock is an item from the person a spell is meant to affect ā either a small piece of their person (such as hair or fingernail clippings), or a personal belonging that is energetically connected to them. A taglock acts as a sort of anchor, tying the energy of a spell to that specific person and providing a direct link between them and the magic. Think of it as an energetic targeting system. This brings faster, more powerful results.
The use of taglocks is connected to the concept of sympathetic magic, which states that what is done to a small part of a person or thing (including an image or effigy) affects the whole. This idea is as old as humans ā in fact, some archaeologists believe that Paleolithic cave paintings of injured animals were a form of sympathetic magic meant to manifest successful hunts.
If you need a taglock for a spell and canāt or donāt want to use hair/fingernails/etc., use one of the personās belongings instead. This can be a business card, a childās stuffed animal, or a napkin they used at dinner ā whatever you can get your hands on. If you canāt get a personal belonging, use a photograph of the person.
Aside from linking magic to a specific person, different human effects have their own magical correspondences (see below). Depending on your spell, it may make sense to include hair as a symbol of personal power and self-expression or menstrual blood as a symbol of releasing old energy. Most witches donāt think twice about using milk or eggs, which come from the bodies of cows and chickens, in their magic, so why shouldnāt we use things from our own bodies as well?
There is an unfortunate stigma around the use of human effects in magic. Things like blood and hair are unfairly associated with dark magic, and many witches avoid them for that reason. Like any other magical tool, human effects can be used in spells for good or ill. You could use a taglock to add power to a healing spell, for example, or put your own hair in a success spell to anchor that success to you. These items are a part of you ā they are no more evil or scary than you are.
Ethics and Safety
Weāve already discussed the ethical implications of doing magic on other people. This is especially important to keep in mind when working with human effects, either your own or someone elseās, because you are working directly with that personās energy. Sympathetic magic gets very up close and personal, so itās important to take care.
Donāt do anything to the personal effect, whatever it is, that you wouldnāt do to the person themselves. (Yes, this still applies if youāre using one of their possessions, or even a photograph.) Be gentle and respectful. Donāt throw it around or be careless with it. Donāt set it on fire or cut it up unless you really know what youāre doing and really want to fuck with the person it came from.
There are certain safety precautions that need to be taken when working with human effects, especially bodily fluids. Iāll talk about safety protocol for blood magic in a future post, but for now just be aware of the danger of bloodborne diseases and other possible contaminants. Sexual fluids may carry STIs, for example. For this reason, you should always take care when handling someone elseās bodily fluids. Wear gloves and make sure you donāt have any exposed cuts or sores.
Hair and fingernails are the safest human effects because they contain dead cells, and thus the risk of contagion is low. Theyāre also usually a little easier to get a hold of, especially if youāre doing magic for another person. Hair and nail clippings are most witchesā go-to taglocks for these reasons.
And finally, do not ever, under any circumstances, eat, drink, or bathe in anything that came from another personās body. Some older spells call for adding blood or some other bodily fluid to food, and some old initiation rituals require the initiate to drink wine containing a drop of blood from each group member. In modern times, we know that this is dangerous because it could potentially spread disease. Trust me when I say there is no good reason to ever consume someone elseās DNA. Just donāt.
Correspondences
Below are correspondences for some human effects that can fairly easily be incorporated into spells. I have also included substitutions, for those who truly just arenāt comfortable working with human effects. These substitutions may not be quite as powerful, but the symbolism is similar.
Note: The use of blood in magic is a huge topic with a rich history, so I have chosen to devote an entire post to it. Blood is not mentioned in this post, but I will be posting about it soon!
Correspondences of Human Effects
Hair is closely tied to a personās essence and personal power, perhaps more so than any other effect besides blood. In many cultures, hair is never cut to avoid dispersing this power. (Think of the story of Samson in the Bible.) Hair is also associated with the head, mental abilities, and thoughts. Hair is one of the most powerful taglocks, and can also be used in spells related to strength, beauty, and mental clarity. Use a few of your own hairs to tie something up to bind it with your personal power.
Saliva lends itself to many purposes because of its wide array of correspondences. On one hand it is associated with kissing and sex (think of the phrase āswapping spitā to describe kissing), but on the other it can be extremely offensive (spitting on someone is a very old and very strong insult). Saliva can also be substituted for any other bodily fluid.
Substitutes for Saliva: cardamom (for love and lust), vinegar (for cursing and insult)
Fingernails are, of course, linked to the hands and to a personās ability to act. Theyāre also one of the easiest human effects to collect, which make them a good choice for a taglock. I usually see fingernails used in this context rather than to bring a certain energy to a spell.
Substitute for Fingernails: clove (to empower action)
Semen and Vaginal Arousal Fluid are, naturally, associated with sex. Both are associated with pure potential, fertility, and action, and can give your spell a heck of a power boost. Use sexual fluids in spells for growth and new beginnings. They are also useful in love magic ā anoint a red candle with your sexual fluids to attract a lover.
Substitutes for Semen and Vaginal Arousal Fluid: penis or vulva shaped candle (for sex magic), rice (for fertility), rose (for love), cinnamon (for lust)
Urine is a traditional ingredient in the witch bottle, a powerful protective charm. Itās also found in both curses and love spells in American folk magic. Interestingly, itās also used to break curses. One of my teachers practiced Appalachian folk magic, and she used to say that the most surefire way to get rid of any curse was to āpiss on a brick.ā (Red bricks are also associated with protection.) As you can see, urine is perhaps the most versatile bodily fluid when it comes to magical uses.
Substitutes for Urine: vinegar (for protection, cursing, and curse breaking), cardamom (for love and lust)
Human effects are a powerful way to add strength to any spell. Next time youāre conjuring healing, manifestation, or love, consider throwing some hair or fingernails in there. Let your bodyās magic be a part of your craft.

for when you don't like, go in the person's house and can't rifle through their things without looking like a massive creep
Loose string on their clothes ("here let me get that for you")
Cigarette butts (makes you just look like a nicotine addict)
Used bottles, plastic silverware or cans (maybe you're really into recycling!)
Stolen lighters ("ill give this back to you later")
Printed photos (stalk the facebook)
Borrowed pen or pencil (bonus if theyve been chewing on it!)
Anything of theirs that they left behind, just say you'll give it back to them later.
Drawn or sculpted effigy (if you're a good artist) maybe a traced photo if you can't get a printer
Used menstrual products (gross but in the bathroom nobody can see and a very very strong taglock)
If you can get nothing but written information: you want the birth date and full name. You can get a playing card, write the name across the top, birth date across the bottom, and baptize it in the name of the person.
Things to avoid
Piss and shit. Thats not sanitary like... Piss is sometimes used as a taglock for men but its hard to collect inconspicuously because it also mixes w every other awful bodily fluid in whatever toilet ur playing in. And it's waste so not very strong because energetically the body is literally purging it.
Phones and ipads, necklaces, ID cards, valuables in general, unless you are dead sure you can get away with it because people tend to take it very seriously. It is powerful though because they probably spend a lot of time with it and they will likely miss it, good for love workings!
Anything especially big that you will have a hard time hiding. Like just don't get caught. If you take an entire jacket or something either change it fundamentally and get rid of it like using a flannel to make a charm and burying it, or sew a very subtle charm into the lining and give it back like hahaha you left this here xoxo. Or with shoes you could also pry up the heel and stick a charm in between the sole and the inside.
