The spice and cream are referencing ingredients in the drink. You can make the spell suit your needs. I usually use cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger for psychic energy. Personally I associate any dairy including cream (or substitutes) with the moon, and the lunar energy lends itself for psychic enhancement as well.

The spell is especially effective when done in a liminal space and/or time. Great for sunsets, evenings, midnight, twilights, and other astronomical transitions. Again, this can be performed with any hot drink but I find it's good with coffee, teas, chai, and oolong tea.
