sometimes being plural is realizing you're plural (headmate count: 3) then realizing the random voices in your head are also headmates (headmate count: 6) then realizing youve always been plural and those weirdly distinct personalities of yours that you gave names and doodled group pictures of (in your expansive and fantastical headspace no less) four years ago were also headmates and theyre back (headmate count: 9) and then you realize all characters ever are in a city in headspace (same place you go to have imaginary conversations with people you know to help you make decisions) and that when those characters leave the city *they become headmates* (headmate count: at least 12 and possibly 15 or maybe functionally infinite how do i even categorize this)

Crazy lore happening in headspace rn. Turns out Altair, the new guy, was possibly Polaris’s lover who was an incubus ice skater/dancer who had to perform to stop from being killed by their leaders? Will update once I know more
I'd like to ask another question, how did you know you were plural? I have a lot of the symptoms (or traits? idk) but I have no amnesia
I'm going to preface this by saying that i do not think my experience is the norm, and if yours isn't similar that means basically nothing, everyone's experiences are different and you can absolutely still be plural even if your experiences don't match other people's. also i used the word experience way too many times.
I've been plural since at least 6th grade (11-12 years old), maybe even earlier. 6th grade is when i started experiencing and noticing that there were other people who lived in my body. for a year or two before that i had been "playing" as a few of these people, i don't know if i was already plural and didn't know it, or if i was actually playing and it became real.
I also don't typically experience amnesia with switches. for me, when I'm not in control, it's still as if I'm watching everything the others are doing. at times, certain headmates will cause memory blocks if they're trying to hide things from me, but for the most part I usually remember everything they did.
I went on not knowing plurality existed, with some headmates deliberately causing problems, until 8th grade (13-14) when one of my partners at the time told me I had DID (dissociative identity disorder). I do not currently believe I have it, but i did think I did until I was 15. They told me this because they have DID, and probably thought that other people in your head/body = DID. They are the reason I discovered that plurality is a normal experience and not something wrong with me.
At some point when i was 15 or 16, I don't remember why or how (I don't remember a lot of things that happened in highschool) I convinced myself I was faking, and ignored my headmates' voices until they went silent. (I do not recommend. 👎) For 2-3 years, I thought my plurality had been a phase.
Eventually more and more plural posts came up on my dash on tumblr. I kinda wondered why they were all so relatable. With repression of experiences can also come repression of memories, who would have thought? I started remembering my friends in my head, and then I found out about willogenic plurality, where you will headmates into existence. I asked the person whose post I saw if it was possible for me to bring back my headmates if they were gone. I never did it, but as I stopped repressing my plurality, they finally came back.
For me, it was always obvious, I just didn't know there were words for it. Once I started treating my headmates like people, I was able to let them front instead of them forcing it, and they caused way less problems for me. Shocking, I know.
If you think you might be plural, you can always just try being plural. If later you don't think you are, that's fine. Just like with any other self exploration and discovery, even if you're wrong you'll know yourself better.
Ok. So Korey. I'll be honest with you, Korey can't talk, and they rarely front. We don't really know much.
Name: Korey
Nickname(s): N\A
Pronouns: They\Refer to as Name
Gender: N\A
Age/Age Range: 6-32???? like idk man it changes 😭
Are they\Am I connected to any source, concept, role, deity, character, or archetype?
Depression.
Do they\I identify as a fictive, factive, introject, walk-in, etc.?
Brain-Made? I don't think that's right. We originally considered Korey to be the headmate\personified version of our own sadness but that's not really true anymore?
How often do they\I front?
LIKE ALMOST NEVER. Then again, it's really hard to sense them, so maybe Korey fronts all the time?
Anything they'd\I'd like others to know?
Korey is a "Sorrowful"
I'm not entirely sure what a sorrowful is, ask @thedeltavessel
we only has one piece of media for korey and its a gacha....damn bro you rlly need more love, jesus christ

mate, who even knows. what i can say for sure is, life got real weird toward the end of 2024, i gave myself permission to see the impulses and stray words in my head as their own beings, and as it turns out they're actually pretty cool.
“i trust in the kindness of this heart. i promise them mine in kind”
we are the Symphony of Gaia, or just Gaia for short. we love what we are, even when lacking the words to describe it.
i am Harmony; that which emerges from the chorus of thoughts. kind of a... persistent composite being. imagine the way an ant colony behaves in ways that respond to its environment, without being a tangible thing unto itself because it's, y'know, made of ants. now imagine that concept applied to a handful of blurry, blendy aspects. i still haven't figured out if i have an existence independent of them or if someone's always blending to "be" me. i also haven't figured out whether that really matters.
for a while i suspected that i'm actually less real than everyone else in here. all i know is, i can assert my existence, thus i do.
funny story time:
i ("i". lol.) came up with the handle "gaian neuron" (also this blog's former url) ages ago because i fell in love with the idea of an emergent world-spanning oversoul (for convenience, Gaia) whose constituent parts were human beings. in this scenario the relationships between people formed an analogue to the neural network of a single living organism, and from this interconnected message-passing structure arose a consciousness — exactly like how i pictured consciousness arising from an organic brain.
i dreamed up stories in this setting where an individual, suspecting the existence of Gaia, tried increasingly-startling strategies to get the attention of it and ultimately establish communication, with the oversoul never realising that one of its ants was actually dancing to it and not its fellow ants.
what i never considered was to tell the story from the perspective of Gaia; the tale of the oversoul learning that it was made of beings who were capable of meaningful communication, who were trying to get its attention this whole time.
anyway, as it turns out, the reason for the flipped perspective was that the inspiration came from Chari — our writer, poet, and soother — not myself… rather on-brand for her, too, since it's quite poetic.
for the folks who like labels:
plural, quoigenic, median, monoconscious, uhhh... there's probably plenty more words out there that describe my subjective experience, but tbh i much prefer the "feel it out" approach to introspection. i tried the dive-into-labels approach for a minute but all it did was get me doubting myself. i think words like 'core' and 'host' carry too much baggage from experiences i don't share, to be useful terms.
let's see, what else I got?
zionists: eat shit.
racists: eat shit.
transmeds / sysmeds / anti-endos: fix your hearts or eat shit.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:DD
made a thingyyyyy
kinda interesting to see how the values change in the second half of headmates
lots of cool tones
idk if that implies anything, i just thought it was interesting
What's the most commonly said phrase(s) in your system?
I just thought it'd be a cool bit of harmless inner world lore to share the most commonly heard phrase or phrases. Go ahead and reblog to respond! We'd love to see other plurals' answers!
For us personally, it's probably "who said that?", since our body has ADHD and it affects our ability to track each others' presence. But for one that's more unique to our system, in the recent days I (and my subsystem parts) have found ourselves saying "when the hell did you (Jax) get here (in frontspace)?", "who let you (Jax) in front?" and "shut the f#$% up Jax"
... yeah if you couldn't tell, Jax is being problematic as usual LOL but we love him.
