relating to a character is fun and all...

Okay I have to ask because I don’t think I understand, I don’t know what people are trying to define when they say mono-conscious VS poly-conscious. I understand the idea of a “persistent I” and possessive/non-possessive switching, the first person POV that can exist without and be changed by the presence of an identity state. I understand headspaces vaguely. I understand them as imaginary tools and know the feeling of “being there” while conscious, but would describe that experience as mechanically the same as being occupied with a very vivid daydream. Other people seem to describe it as another mode of consciousness entirely, a place you can “go to” with some degree of perceived reality or sensation to it, maybe like a deep sleep dream that is always presently active? Does that sound accurate at all?? When people say “multiple consciousness” are they communicating that they actually have multiple persistent POVs at the same time? And in that case, when somebody isn’t fronting, can they recount the whole experience of leaving front and ‘going to’ headspace as they felt it in real time? Do thoughts form differently outside of front awareness? Is somebody in headspace who is polyconscious able to make observations and react to the internal environment the same as they would in shared reality/external world?

just remembered i had a dream where one of our alters (our protector) snapped and started shouting at everyone to just be decent fucking people
