Random but objects have magic in them. Not enough to have any powers
[well unless their species calls for it, and even then they don't have limitless power nits usually like, "oh, you can change your form but usually only under specific conditions" or "oh, you have a weakass power but use it too much and you'll pass out" type thing]
If an object looses their magic [which can only really happen if it's sucked out of them by some force] they're basically MephoneX'd. Limbless, faceless, just a large object. This doesn't happen normally, even mimics [which feed on magic to survive] only get it from blood, which while it contains most of it, some of it is stored in the object, so even if you drain one of their blood, they'll still have their limbs and face [though they'd be very dead]
Also mimics aren't objects, they're a species that mimics objects by being born with a shell that looks and feels like an object. This was used as a hunting tactic by their ancestors, though nowadays the species are considered equal. They get their food through specific blood drive program meant to feed hematophagic objects [vampire bats, some leeches, the sorts], but they also cover mimics.
