The wind roared like a creature born of anger, staggering through the cabin’s entrance door as Bucky almost broke the door when he kicked it open. Snow seeping into his tactical suit, his hair damp and sticking to his forehead. In his arms, Y/N lay limp, her frozen skin clinging to the fabric of his suit on his chest as if she belonged there. She can hear his heart hammered against her ear, a relentless beat behind the layers of cloth.
It was wild, frantic even; and she told herself it was because of the storm, the desperate trek to find shelter. She thought of her injuries, the way she slowed him down. The guilt made her heart clench and her chest feel heavy; a throb more suffocating than the pain in her thigh and waist. She’d been nothing but a burden.
The cabin was almost as dark as the night, and the coldness of the space was not that far off from the snow storm brewing outside. But this? This wasn’t new to him. He’d endured worse.
Bucky lowered her carefully in front of the fireplace, his movements precise but urgent. Y/N winced as her wounds screamed in protest, the pain was blazing hot despite the freezing air around. Her thigh throbbed, and her waist felt as though it was wrapped in shards of glass.
Bucky stepped away briefly, his gaze darting over the unlit corners of the room, his hand instinctively brushing the knife at his side. A habit he was not able to forget; the Winter Soldier training never really left him. Satisfied they were alone, he turned back to her.
Her eyelids fluttered slowly, her consciousness slipping in and out. Bucky cursed under his breath. The power was out, but he wasn’t about to waste time diagnosing that now. His jaw was tight, lips pressed into a thin line as he set out what he needed to treat her wounds.
Bucky was angry; it radiated off him like steam from boiling water. But the frown on his face wasn’t unfamiliar. Y/N had seen his rigid features a thousand times before. This, though? This was sharper, colder. It wasn’t his usual grumpiness. He was mad. At her.
The realization was like a slow plunge of blade into her chest, and it made eyes pooled with warm tears. Not from the physical pain scorching her flesh, but the ache of his perceived disappointment.
By the time Bucky had coaxed the firewood into flames, the heat began to thaw the rattling chill in the room. He knelt beside her, his expression set in stone as he draped a blanket over her trembling form. Behind the cover of the blanket, his hands worked quickly, undressing her with care that belied his hardened demeanor.
He pulled her close as he worked to pull her pants over her bottom. Her face was buried in his neck as he whispered, “The cold will kill you. Come on, now.” His voice, rough but mostly filled with urgency. They didn’t have the luxury of embarrassment – for her, the sensation of him stripping her bare; for him, the temptation to relish the softness of her skin against his hands – not with her life teetering on the edge of frost and blood loss.
He peeled the blanket back just enough to expose her injuries, the torn of her flesh was slick with half-frozen blood. The cold had helped slow the bleeding, but not enough to ease his worry. Bucky worked with a precision that spoke of grim experience.
Every time she winced or hissed, his grip on the forceps tightened, the metal creaking in protest. It was as if her pain annoyed him, a silent demand for her to be stronger, better; more like an Avenger.
She noticed it every single time, and it pricked into her pride like being wrapped with thorny vines. The fact that he wouldn’t meet her eyes made it worse. His focus stayed on her wounds, his frown deepening with each moment.
When he finally finished, he noticed the tears tracing her cheeks; a silent trace of a vulnerability she couldn’t hide. They were especially prominent when they glistened in the firelight. His brow furrowed further.
“Bear with the pain a little longer,” he said, his voice gruff. “I’ll get the team here as soon as I can.” his tone was not that far off from his normal grumpy self.
But to Y/N, at this very moment, it sounded harsh. To her, it sounded more like an order than reassurance. She swallowed, guilt twisting like a vice in her chest.
“I’m sorry,” she murmured, her voice trembling.
Bucky’s head snapped up, confusion flashing in his stormy blue eyes. “What?”
“I’m sorry for being incompetent. I should’ve noticed them sooner. I should’ve taken them down before they could do anything.” Her voice was a mix of shame and frustration however not as evident as the pure agon trembling through.
His jaw clenched. “There’s nothing you could’ve done.”
The words were meant to be absolution, but she heard them differently. There’s nothing you can do.
Her voice cracked. “I wasn’t enough.”, streams of hot tears kept falling unapologetically, leaving behind a trail of warmth on her cold skin.
Bucky’s frown deepened, his frustration bubbling over. “Damn it, Y/N. Why do you always do this to yourself?”
She blinked at him, her confusion cutting through the haze of pain. “Do what?”
“Put the blame on yourself like it’s some kind of default setting. This wasn’t your fault,” he snapped, the edge in his voice sharper than intended.
Her cheeks burned, shame and anger mingling in her chest. “I’m not blaming myself. I’m just… stating facts. If I’d been faster, stronger; if I’d been better; this wouldn’t happen. We wouldn’t need to abandon the mission. You wouldn’t need to carry me all the way up here.”
Bucky’s eyes flashed, his frustration spilling out; contaminating the air around them. “You think I care about that? About you being some kind of perfect soldier?” He leaned closer, his voice dropping but no less intense. “I care about you, Y/N. Not your skills, not your damn performance. YOU.”
Her breath hitched, his words slicing through the self-doubt she’d been drowning in. “Then why do you look at me like that? Like I’ve failed you?”
His shoulders sagged, the firelight casting shadows across his face. “That’s not what this is,” he said, his tone quieter now, tinged with exhaustion. “I’m angry because you scared the hell out of me. I’m worried about you, Y/N. You jumped in front of a bullet meant for me without a second thought. Don’t you value your life?”
The words struck her like a blow, but she struck back with equal fervor. “You’re the most valuable person to me! Of course, I will protect you with everything I have. And I’d do it again if I have to!”
Her confession lingered in the air, fragile but undeniable. Bucky’s eyes widened, the storm in them softening as realization washed over him. His anger melted, leaving only the deepest parts of his emotions afloat; his love for her.
His right hand rose tentatively, brushing the skin of her tear-streaked face. His palm cupped her cheek, his warmth a stark contrast to her icy skin. She leaned into his touch, a quiet surrender.
“Y/N,” he whispered, his voice trembling with an overwhelming feeling that he couldn’t quite utter out loud yet. “You… you matter to me.”
The words hung between them, heavy and fragile. She blinked up at him, the pieces slowly found its rightful place in puzzle. She realized that he meant more than just about worry or duty. It was something deeper, something unspoken but unmistakable. Yet, she reminds herself not to get ahead of the moment.
“Why?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Bucky’s gaze softened, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. “Because you make it easier to keep going,” he admitted, his voice unfiltered. “When everything feels heavy, when the past doesn’t let me breathe, you’re the one thing that makes it bearable. You remind me that I’m still… me. And that makes you, Y/N, the most precious person to me.”
Her heart clenched, his words cutting through the haze of pain and doubt. The light from the fire danced in his eyes, their usual icy blue now warm and liquid, like the sea yielding to the shore. She hadn’t just been a mission partner or a responsibility to him. She’d been his anchor, his hope.
And for a moment, the storm outside seemed to still; as if time itself paused to let the quiet intimacy between them linger just a little longer. To let the cabin feel like it was a cocoon, sheltering not just their bodies but the fragile truths they’d finally unveiled.
"Are you okay with that, babydoll?" he asked softly.
Heat rushed to her cheeks at the nickname, her heart stuttering in her chest. She nodded, sheepish, her lips curving into a small, bashful smile. His own lips twitched upward, the corners softening into a rare, genuine grin. Her reaction was worth the vulnerability of saying it aloud.
But as the burning wood crackled and the silence stretched, Bucky noticed the faint tremble still coursing through her body. Even with the fire roaring and the blanket tucked around her, she was trembling.
"You’re still cold," he murmured, guilt threading through his tone as his hand moved gently, caressing her cheek before trailing down to her neck. His touch was soft, deliberate, as though he could erase the chill from her skin with every motion.
Their eyes met in that moment, and the realization hit them both at the same time.
She nodded slightly, her voice a soft whisper. "Can you… stay with me? Under the covers?"
Bucky hesitated, his instincts warring with his emotions. His hesitation lingered for a moment too long, and she turned her wide, pleading eyes on him. Those damned puppy eyes. And just like that, he was undone.
With a resigned sigh, he stripped off his snow-soaked jacket and tactical vest, leaving them in a damp heap by the fire. His shirt followed, revealing the lines of muscle and the faint scars that told a thousand stories. He slid beneath the covers, careful not to jostle her injured side. The moment his warmth enveloped her, Y/N instinctively curled closer, drawn to him like a moth to a flame.
Bucky’s body was a furnace, the serum coursing through his veins keeping his heat steady and intense. Her frozen fingers brushed against his chest, and he sucked in a sharp breath, every nerve in his body coming alive at the contact.
Slowly, he wrapped his right arm around her, careful and deliberate. Pulling her closer; her head snuggled into the crook of his neck, the softness of her breasts resting on just below his chest, her legs entangled with his, until there was no space left between them.
His hand found her back, calloused fingers tracing soothing circles over her bare skin. The gesture was gentle, almost hesitant, as if he was afraid that she would break. But the way she relaxed against him, her breaths stabilising as her trembling subsided, told him she didn’t mind. Her nose brushing against his skin, and he felt her sigh; a soft, content sound that made his chest ache in the best way.
"You’re precious to me," he murmured, the words spilling out before he could second-guess them. His lips found her forehead, a lingering kiss that was both tender and grounding. "More than anything."
Y/N’s fingers curled against his chest, her heart thumping a steady rhythm that matched his own. "Bucky," she whispered, her voice thick with sleep but laced with something softer, warmer. "Thank you."
He smiled against her hair, the corners of his mouth curving upward in a way that felt unfamiliar but good. "No, thank you, for saving me", he replied quietly, his sincerity was certain. Then his tone shifted, growing stern as he added, "But, don’t do that again."
She giggled softly at his warning, the sound light and airy, cutting through the heaviness of the moment. "What if I like saving you?" she teased, her voice playful but still tinged with exhaustion.
Bucky rolled his eyes, a low chuckle rumbling in his chest. "You’re impossible," he muttered, but there was no real bite to his words. Instead, his hand shifted to cradle the back of her head, his thumb brushing gently over her hairline. "Just promise me you won’t scare me like that again."
She tilted her head up slightly to meet his gaze, her lips twitching with a faint smile. "Only if you promise the same."
He huffed, his breath warm against her temple. "Deal." His fingers resumed their soothing circles on her back, and he leaned down to press another soft kiss to her forehead. "Get some rest, doll."
They stayed like that, skin to skin, softness meeting strength. Bucky held her as if the world outside didn’t exist, as if the storm that had almost claimed their life was nothing but a distant memory. For the first time in what felt like forever, the weight of everything; the mission, the storm, the unspoken emotions, seemed to lift. Wrapped in each other’s arms, the world outside faded to nothing.
At some point, their bodies finally surrendered to exhaustion, leading them straight to the warm embrace of sleep and perhaps even to the bashful morning after when they awoke, body tangled together, and all too aware of the touch of each other’s bare skin.
End.

From @buck-star Fluffy Winter Event
December rolled around faster than you had expected. By now, although you complained, you have fallen into the routine of waking up early and going training. But to your surprise, when you woke up, it was 11 o’clock. You looked out your window to find the outside of the compound covered in snow. You made a beeline downstairs and managed to coax a few members of the team into a good, old-fashioned snowball fight. After lunch, you bundled up and rushed outside, eager to start and kick some butt.
“Alright,” Sam said, his breath visible in the air. “We’ve got teams set. Clint, Wanda, and you on one side.” Sam shot you a grin and you adjusted your gloves. “Steve, Bucky, and me on the other.”
“You’re going down, Wilson,” you said, barely holding back your excitement. “This is my turf now.”
Bucky, standing on the opposite team with his arms crossed, shooting you a half-hearted glare. He had that look, like he was only here because Steve asked him to be.
“Just don’t whine when I knock you out of the game,” you teased, taking a handful of snow and molding it into a perfect snowball.
Then, the snowball fight began.
Clint immediately fired a snowball at Sam, while Wanda conjured up several smaller snowballs in the air, launching them with deadly accuracy. You ducked behind a pile of snow, peering around it to assess your next move.
And then, you saw Bucky. He was standing there, clearly not engaged.
Big mistake.
He was your favorite target, and you couldn’t resist. The former solider was in for a fun surprise. You giggled to yourself as you made a snowball, aimed, and with a satisfying thwack, it hit him square in the chest.
Wanda and Clint started laughing.
Steve and Sam gave each other a knowing look.
Bucky did not find the same humor in the situation. In fact, he looked like he wanted to choke you.
Bucky’s expression darkened as he brushed the snow off, his jaw tightening. His eyes narrowed into slits as they met yours.
“You did not just do that, sweetheart” he growled, his voice low and dangerous.
You didn’t even flinch. In fact, you grinned. “Oh, I did. And it was a perfect shot. You’re welcome.”
“Your little ass is in trouble now.” Bucky started walking out from his team’s side of the yard. His eyes locked onto you, like a predator ready to devour their prey. Your face flushed red, but not from the cold.
“Oh, shit,” you muttered, realizing he wasn’t going to show you mercy this time.
You started to run away, but a few giggles slipped past your lips.
“You better run, sunshine!” Bucky called after you.
You sprinted toward the trees. As you glanced behind you, you realized Bucky was closing in fast.
You tried to zigzag through the trees, but he followed you with scarily accurate precision. You were smart, fast even, but you were no match for Bucky Barnes.
“We can talk this out, we’re both reasonable adults.” You smiled up at him, trying your best to reason with him.
He chuckled darkly as you moved towards you and your back hit the tree.
“I am too young to die!” you screamed, although you knew there was no danger. Bucky was a big softie for you.
“You gotta learn, sunshine.” Without warning, he scooped you up in his arms and threw you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. You let out a squeak and you slapped your hand against his back.
“Bucky!” you yelped, laughing in disbelief. “You’re such a cheater! Manhandling is not included in snowball fights!”
“Fuck the rules, sunshine,” he grumbled. “You should’ve thought of that before you hit me with that snowball.”
You huffed, giving into the inevitable and went limp in his arms.
He marched right up to the snowbank and dumped you into it. You landed with a soft thud and you scrambled to sit up, a small pout on your lips
“Oh, come on!” you laughed, brushing snow off your coat. “This is how you’re gonna play it? Throwing me in the snow?”
Bucky stood over you, arms crossed, a cocky smirk tugging at his lips. “You started this, not me.”
You shot him a look from beneath your tangled hair, puffing out a breath in frustration. “I made a perfect shot! It was nothing personal.”
His expression softened slightly, but only for a second. “You are impossible.”
You stood up, brushing yourself off. "Oh, I’m impossible, huh? You’re the one who lost, Bucky."
Bucky laughed in amusement at your smart mouth. “I think you’re forgetting who’s really in charge here, sweetheart. Maybe you need some discipline, hm?”
You grabbed his arm and tugged with all your might and the two of you tumbled backward into the snow.
“I’ll teach you some respect,” Bucky muttered, his hands suddenly pinning yours into the snow, the weight of his body pressing down on you. “You think you can get away with anything you do, you little troublemaker?”
“Yup,” you smiled, looking up at him. “Because I know you won’t hurt me.”
Bucky glared down at you, though the flicker of amusement in his eyes didn’t escape you. “You are lucky you’re cute, sunshine.”
You shivered suddenly, the cold biting harder now that the fun had gone on long enough. You tried to hide it, but Bucky noticed immediately. His expression softened in an instant.
“You’re freezing,” he muttered, glancing down at you with something softer in his eyes.
Before you could even respond, Bucky moved, lifting you effortlessly into his arms, guiding your hand around his neck.
“Bucky, what-” you started, but he just shook his head, his face still serious despite the small hint of concern there.
“I’m taking you inside,” he said, already walking toward the compound. “You’re not getting any warmer in this cold.”
You leaned your head against his shoulder, a small, content smile tugging at your lips despite yourself. “I’m not a baby, you know,” you teased, but the warmth of his embrace was undeniable.
As Bucky carried you inside, you could hear Sam and Steve laughing.
“In all the decades I’ve known him, I’ve never seen Bucky so whipped,” Steve said, shaking his head, a grin plastered across his face. “She’s got him wrapped around her little finger.”
Sam chuckled. “Yup, Bucky’s definitely in deep. I think she might be in charge here.”
You could hear Bucky mutter something under his breath as he pushed through the door open, but he didn’t correct them. He didn’t need to. Everyone could see it. The tough, grumpy soldier had met his match in you.
You readjusted yourself in his arms, snuggling closer. Your nose brushes against the side of his neck and you catch a whiff of his cologne that makes you want to drown in his scent.
It’s starting out to be the best holiday season.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed! I hope to get out another one shot tonight and tomorrow. They might be much shorter though, but fingers crossed :)
Warnings: Some dry humping, language, and self indulgent to the max.
Summary: Your brother Bucky invites a guest to spend Christmas with your family... you should have known it was Steve and that old feelings would come back up...
A/N: Hello, This is my first time writing for Steve and I would like to thank @buck-star for showing me their wonderful Fluffy Winter Event! Now if you are used to my BG3 content, this might be a bit different. But I love Steve so please don't judge! The heart wants what the heart wants. If you are new to my writing hi! hope you enjoy and if you have any ideas for Steve (or Chris Evans characters) just ask!
Tropes: Brothers Best Friend, Baking together, Dancing.
Word count: 6,469.
"Bucky's bringing a mystery guest? What, is it some new girlfriend?"
You tease, watching as your mother picks up your brother's old childhood room, fussing over the bedding and ensuring everything is still just as he left it. The only changes made are the sublet Christmas decorations to make the room appear more festive. She also kept your room in the same state when you left for college; it was like a time capsule every time you two came home for the holidays.
"Well, from my understanding, it's supposed to be some kind of surprise for us?" She says as she brushes the nonexistent dust from the curtains.
Scrunching your face and piercing your lips, you try to think about who Bucky could be bringing. It's no surprise Bucky is bringing a guest; he always seemed to bring home a stray or two when he came around for the holidays. Sometimes, it was girlfriends to meet Mom or friends from college, like Sam, who had spent last Thanksgiving with your family. But it's supposed to be a surprise… so it would have to be a girlfriend, right?
You end up just shrugging your shoulders. As long as Bucky didn't bring anyone that would make the holiday awkward, you really didn't care who was coming around.
Hours later, you're all still waiting for Bucky and the mystery guest to show up. Dad was asleep in his recliner as you and Mom wrapped presents while sharing memories from past Christmases. Fond memories flooded as you thought of the play fighting you and Bucky would always get into and the delicious sweets you would make with Mom. But the best part was just getting to see your family and making more memories with each other.
During your trip down memory lane, you didn't hear the door slowly opening, and you definitely didn't hear your brother sneaking up behind you. You did, however, feel when he suddenly squeezed you in a tight bear hug, making you scream.
Embarrassed at being spooked, you turn around and see that it's just Bucky laughing at your reaction. The panic you felt turns into elation as you hug your brother, "You asshole, you scared the crap out of me!"
Bucky laughs before ruffling your hair, "Wow, language Goober, we have a guest."
Ah, yes, the guest! You let go of Bucky and finally look towards the door, expecting to see an excited girlfriend, but when you look, your eyes feel like they're going to pop out of their sockets. Filling the doorway with a massive form was the surprise guest…tall, blonde, cute... Steve Rogers?
Blue eyes watch you intently as he stands holding what you assume to be his and Bucky's bags. You're still not even convinced it's him until you fully take in all the features of his face, full lips, nice nose, and sweet smile that shows off his cute dimples and perfect teeth. Holy shit, that is Steve.
Mom rushes up with a squeal when she sees Bucky. The loud squealing finally jerks your father awake from his snoring as he looks at what his wife could be screaming at. He seems to relax when he sees she's just fussing over Bucky like always. Usually, you would be messing with Bucky at this moment, teasing him about being late and being a mama's boy, but your focus has gone to the elephant or, well, the big bulky guy shaking your father's hand.
It's been years since you last saw Steve. Unconsciously, you touch your fingers to your lips as what feels like a storm floods your gut. You didn't mean to be staring at Steve, but you feel as if you're in shock. Of course, as you're staring, his eyes leave your fathers to return to you. He smiles at you, and it almost looks like he's about to approach before an excited, pitched scream from your mother has him startled and shooting a wide-eyed look at her.
Her excitement leaves your ears ringing as she goes to Steve, giving him a hug and promptly rubberbanding him for not coming to visit sooner. Steve just fumbles out some excuses as his eyes go from her to you and back to her. Looking back at Bucky, you inch yourself closer to him before swatting his shoulder.
"Ow! What?" He gripes.
"You didn't think to tell us it was Steve coming over?"
Bucky just gives you a smirk, "It was a surprise; you're surprised, right?"
“yeah…real surprised…” you mumble under your breath.
Both of you watch as your mom continues to gush over Steve, how it's been so long, how he's so tall and different looking, what he has been up to. All questions you wanted to ask yourself. Seeing Steve again throws you for the biggest loop, and frankly, it makes old feelings you thought died freshman year swell up. Why the hell is he here? After all this time, his face looks like some kind of sexy lab experiment gone all too right.
"Steve, we are just so happy to see you. It's been forever. I should have guessed it would have been you! Right, honey, we should have guessed!" Your mom throws her eyes towards you to see you with confused glare. "Sweetie? Aren't you going to say hi? It's Steve. Isn't that incredible!"
Some might think it's unbelievable…
Plastering an awkward smile to your face, you give a slight wave, "Hi Steve."
"Hey, Scout, it's nice to see you again; it's been a while." A smile is stretched on his full lips as he calls you his old nickname, you haven't heard in forever. You almost forgot how he always called you Girl Scout for running around with him and Bucky playing army and then baking cookies afterward. You hated that nickname before, but now that you think about it, the name fits.
There is a silence as your family watches the lukewarm reunion. Finally, your mom is moving over to you with a wide grin. "I don't think you're going to have to compare heights with him anymore." -Why is she bringing that up…
You may have had an obnoxious habit of every time Bucky would bring Steve over, you would stand next to him to compare heights. At first, it was just your little secret. You would be behind his back to make sure you weren't getting too tall too fast, but then it became a game. Steve was always a good sport about it, and you always hoped you wouldn't become taller than him. But now, as you look at his 6'2 stature, it's clear that fear wouldn't happen.
"I'll stand still so we can double-check," Steve chimes in, "It is kind of a tradition, Scout. What do you say?" Your mom looks expectantly as Bucky just gives Steve a quick pat on the back before sneaking off to the kitchen. You walk over to Steve, keeping your eyes steady on his, finding it hard not to roam your eyes down over his broad build. Okay, maybe you did seek a glance down his tight shirt, screaming across his chest, which leads to what you're sure is an impeccable abdomen and narrow waist. God, even his thighs underneath his jeans just look perfect to sit on. -Shit!
Burying down some horny thoughts, you stand in front of Steve, who now towers over you. From this close, you see that he's still every bit as cute (maybe even more handsome…), And he smells of that same musk you have come to recall so well, just this time there is just a hint of spruce. Steve has a smirk on his lips as he looks down at you, "Looks like you never got taller than me." he whispers as you judge your height with your hand; he's a whole head taller than you, maybe more.
Your cheeks flare with a blush that you're sure is reaching your ears. You look at his face, your eyes immediately going to his smiling lips, and those memories of that night in that lonely hallway come rushing back. Why is it equally wonderful to see him and make your stomach twist into a sicky storm?
"You're so tall now…" is all you can seem to answer, making Steve chuckle even more and you wish the ground would swallow you up ‘You're so tall now’ yeah no shit!
Finally, you're able to slip out an excuse completely modified at how you're turning into such a flustered schoolgirl! Steve stutters some kind of goodnight after you as you make your way up the stairs; turning back, the last thing you see is a concerned-looking Steve watching you.
You're quick to rush past all the Christmas decorations and tuck yourself away into your room, leaning your back against the door and doing what you found yourself not doing when you were so close to Steve: Breathe.
Steve Rogers, honestly, of course it's Steve. You should have considered it sooner since he's been your brother's best friend for years! He's so different now. He was as thin as a pin the last time you saw him. Now he's a total beefcake, and those fluttering feelings of a crush you thought were tamped down years ago are bubbling forward.
Steve was always a good friend, not only to your brother but to you and your family. Now that you think about it, he was always just a good person? He always defined your brother no matter what and would always help anyone in need. He was bullied and teased when you knew him, but that never stopped him from voicing his opinion and standing up for what was right. Sure, it often ended up with Steve with a busted lip and Bucky pummeling the bully, but you couldn't help but admire his courage and willingness to help people and his kindness.
A sigh slips from your chest… Steve's kindness… he really was kind, sometimes confusing, but ultimately kind…
During the winter dance, you still remember all the beautiful snowflakes in the air and the way the silver tinsel shined under the sparkling lights. It was a tradition that the school put on a Dance before winter break. As a jaded Senior, Bucky wasn't as impressed, but you, as a freshman, were beyond excited. You had saved for new heels, Mom helped you pick the perfect dress, and you even managed to somehow get a date! There was no way this night was going to be ruined!
The night did not go as planned.
Your new heels you got on sale? Snapped. The new dress you got? Ruined when someone ran into you with a full glass of punch. And your date? Your oh-so-wonderful date? He left to dance with some flirty junior…
Now, here you are, sitting on the floor outside of the dance, trying not to cry in the dark hallway. You listen to the music, just waiting until you finally hear the last song end. Then you can walk home with Bucky and Steve and forget about this embarrassing night. As if it were fate, a nearby door swings open, and who do you see? Steve Rogers.
Steve looks at you, and his jaw tenses; he immediately turns to go back into the dance to find and try to beat up your ex-date. Before he can, however, you're standing up and quickly grabbing Steve by the sleeve. Steve, being Steve, of course, pauses per your request, but you can tell he didn't want to.
Steve sits on the floor as you talk about your series of unfortunate events.
"So, how did you figure out I was out here?"
"When I saw your date dancing with Suzy, it kind of clued me in..." There was a short pause before Steve looked at you confused.
"Why did you even say yes to that idiot?"
Of course, that made you laugh before you shrugged, "I don't know. I think that I was just excited to be asked…"
Steve nods in understanding, "If that's the case, then I should have asked you."
You feel butterflies when he says it, and when you turn to look at him, he's looking forward with a noticeable blush. Dammit, he's cute.
As you sit there with Steve, the announcement of the final dance is made, and as you gather your courage to ask him to dance, Steve beats you to the question, "Dance with me?" he asked so quietly, almost like a whisper…
You smile, "I thought you didn't dance?"
"Let's just say I'm willing to dance with you."
"But I don't have shoes."
Steve just looks over at you with a warm smile before he stands, reaching his hand down towards you. "Then I guess you won't be taller than me." You bite your bottom lip as you take his hand, letting you get up. You look into his beautiful blue eyes, "I'm only an inch shorter than you and still growing."
Steve carefully places your hand on his shoulder before placing his hand on your waist, "Then let me enjoy this while I'm still tall enough to lead."
As the song goes, you dance with Steve, loving how he slightly stumbles and needs to look down at his feet every couple of paces. It's not until you move both his hands to your hips and wrap your arms to hug around his neck that the tension leaves him, and you can sway together in harmony. As you lean your head down to his shoulder, you take in his scent and surprising warmth.
"Thank you, Steve..." you whisper in his ear, Steve chuckles for a moment, his hands seeming to tighten slightly.
"I just wish I was a better dancer... for you."
"Well, I think that this is perfect." You look into his ocean eyes, "That you're perfect." His cheeks flush red as he smiles clearly not used to the complements.
You take the time to trace over his handsome features like you have so many times before, but instead of your staring being secret, Steve's eyes stay on you before they flick down your lips. Your heartbeat races, and you can feel yourself blushing redder. Caught, he quickly looks back into your eyes, but that's when you lean in, moving to play with the golden hair at the nape of his neck.
Swallowing, Steve focuses his eyes on your lips as he places his hand on your cheek, his thumb tracing your bottom lip.
"Steve... please…"
"Y-You Sure?"
"Yes." That's all you had to say as you closed your eyes and felt Steve take your first kiss. His full lips started sweet and shy before you felt the feeling of his tongue timidly asking for permission to push past your lips. As soon as you let him in and his tongue brushes against yours, he pulls away.
Steve looks at you guilty before he backs away. "I gotta go... tell Bucky I said goodbye."
"Steve, wait!"
But as the song ended, Steve was already gone... leaving with your first kiss and leaving you completely confused.
Thinking back on the memory makes you groan as you go over to your bed, plopping down with a thump. Who the hell kisses someone then leaves! Were you bad at it? Damn you, Steve Rogers, you fucking nerd! That stormy feeling of rejection starts to bloom within your chest. Was it rejection? It felt like it... and after the kiss, things were different. He didn't come around as much, and then he graduated.
Now he's back, tall, and still so cute. Who are you kidding? Steve looks downright sexy, and it isn't even fair! People are not supposed to get hotter like that! Steve looks like he's been living at the gym while your acne just cleared up. And from what you have seen from him tonight, he's still just as charming and lovely…
oh, universe, tho, are such a cold bitch...
The following day hits you like a ton of bricks. You feel as if you didn't get one wink of sleep last night. Dreams ranging from memories to fantasies have kept you from getting any rest. Sighing, you roll out of bed and maybe put on just a little bit of makeup... - Just to look less tired, not for any other reason…
Finally, you make it downstairs, rounding your way over to the kitchen, where the smell of fresh coffee wafs through the air. The sight looks like one from a Christmas card, with the garland hanging from the window and the Christmas-themed tea towels everywhere. Then there's Mom making a frantic list of last-minute needs, Bucky checking his phone, and Steve? Oh, Steve. He stands drinking his cup of coffee, and his eyes seem to go from tired to bright as soon as they lock with yours.
You chime out a good morning as you enter the room. Mom and Bucky mutter out a grody morning in response.
“Good morning Scout, Coffee?” Steve says in what seems like anticipation and you just give him a small nod and a yes please as you walk to see what your mom is scratching away at.
Looking over her shoulder as you sit confirms your thought that she needs last-minute things. As soon as you sit, a mug of fresh coffee is placed in front of you, with cream and sugar to follow. Looking up, you see Steve looking down at you with that same kind smile.
Dammit, he's still so sweet…
"Such a gentleman..." your mom says almost teasingly. Yes, mom, you know! She gives you an expectant look, and all you can do is roll your eyes.
"Last-minute list? I thought last year you said you were never shopping on Christmas Eve again?" she sighs, ripping the paper from the pad. “Unfortunately, some things can't be helped. So while me and your brother are at the store, you, my favorite daughter, will do the baking."
"I'm your only daughter."
"Jury is still out on that." Bucky snarks
Rolling your eyes, you discreetly shoot Bucky the bird that he fakes being insulted by. Though as soon as mom looks up you two are going back to being civil. .
"What am I making this year?"
"Your wonderful Chocolate pie and Steve has requested Chocolate Chip Cookies." The request makes you give Steve a pointed look. He quickly turns away, making a fake whistle. You swear if he has only come back for your cookies, you don't care how big he is; you will throw him off the roof.
With the plans set Bucky slides out from his chair pocketing his phone, "Alright, Steve, let's get ready to go."
"Actually, I was going to hang back and give a hand with the baking." -what?
"She would love that! So kind!" Your mom beams -excuse me?
"Yeah, maybe you can help her keep the pies in one piece this year." Bucky snickers, teasing at the fact that every year, the pie always has a missing slice by morning. Bucky suspects it's you, considering you made it. You think it's Bucky, but nobody truly knows the truth.
"I'm not the pie thief you are," you say, pushing Bucky with your elbow. Of course, Bucky isn't just going to take that… so he shoves you back, and the sibling bickering starts.
"Am not"
"Are too!"
"Am Not!"
"Are Too!"
"Shut up!" Mom is quick to end the immature argument, but it doesn't stop you and Bucky from sticking your tongues out at each other—very mature.
"You, desserts, Bucky, with me, Steve, I'm sorry." With that, Buck and Mom are gone to do late shopping, leaving you and Steve alone in the kitchen.
It's quiet for a minute before Steve finally turns to you with a wide smile. "Just tell me what to do, Scout. You're in charge."
Ah, so you're leading now.
Grabbing the recipe book, you quickly flip through the pages until you find the right one. With a smile, you shove the book into his large hands. Steve doesn't even seem fazed as he keeps his eyes on yours.
"Chocolate pie, it's foolproof."
Steve cocks his head to the side, "Foolproof? Ouch, Scout."
"Don't pretend to be offended. I've heard you and Bucky call each other much worse."
Steve steps closer to you, “I don’t know you seem to have a bit of meanness in you know, I saw you give him the middle finger.” Steve tsk his lips and you wince, of course he saw that…
Not backing away from a challenge, you get even closer—so close you can smell the coffee off his breath. “Well Steve; you haven't seen me in a long time. I guess it only makes sense that I changed."
Steve shakes his head with a laugh as he looks over the recipe but keeping your little game going, "Don’t worry I plan on figuring that out while I'm here."
“Figuring out what?" you say crossing your arms and popping out your hip, Steve's eyes move to you as they roam slowly over your body, then he smirks.
"If you're still as sweet as I remember..." The way it just rolls off his tongue is so Sinful. Sure, he's still sweet, but now he's seemed to learn how to flirt. And with how your cheeks heat up from his words, you might be in trouble for falling even more for him.
Instead of quipping back, you just turn away and start gathering the ingredients you need. Trying desperately to ignore the budding tension. Baking in a kitchen with a handsome man can create its own kind of testion. But baking alone in a kitchen with an attractive man you once shared a first kiss with, now that tension could be cut with a knife.
Time passes as you two continue to silently bake, you wish the teasing had not ended so abruptly because now you are coming up with all the best comebacks, figures…
Turning your head over your shoulder, you watch Steve cut up the chocolate bricks in fine flakes. His large hands are coated in chocolate, and watching his muscles tense and move with the quick movements of the knife is mouthwatering…
Steve turns to look at you and gives you a soft smile. Quickly, you move your eyes to the cookie mix you're putting together, trying to seem like you are totally not staring at him, imagining how sweet his chocolate-coated fingers would be in your mouth. Rolling your eyes and taking a deep breath, you try to ground yourself in reality for a moment; you're in your parent's kitchen with your brother's best friend; this is not the time to be thinking horny thoughts.
While lost in your internal struggle, you feel a large hand placed on your hip; The hand is gripping tightly making warmth instantly shooting tingles down your spine. Looking up, you see Steve reaching for a bowl that is very conveniently placed in the cabinet above you. His cologne invades your senses, and you can't be too mad about it. Also, the subtle way he's pushing and leaning on you is making his crotch rub against your ass, either he knows exactly what he's doing or doesn't care to give you any personal space. You imagine it's the latter.
Once he's retrieved the bowl his breath is fanning against your ear, and his velvet voice numbs your mind to mush: " Sorry, Scout. I needed to grab a bowl." Oh, he's toying with you.
Finding your grip on reality, you take your bowl of cookies and push yourself out of Steve's sexy radiance. "Next time, ask, huh?"
You move over to the mixer and start mixing up the dough. You hear Steve clear his throat over the mixture. Looking over your shoulder again, you see his broad frame diligently mixing the filling over the stove. You hate how much you enjoy looking at him and his cute butt…
"Are you worried I'm messing up the mixing?" he calls over his shoulder. You quickly turn around and add the chocolate chips to the fluffy dough.
"Like I said... foolproof, I'm not worried." You say, trying to sound confident.
"So there's another reason why you're staring at me this whole time?" Does he have eyes in the back of his head!?
"I wasn't-"
"Don't even try it," Steve warns as he finally pours the chocolate mix into the pie crust and puts it in the oven to bake. Finally, he turns to face you, Crossing his massive arms in front of him. "I've felt your eyes on me this whole time."
Shit... Returning to your mixer, you do your old faithful tactic when you don’t want to answer a question, “I don’t know what you're talking about.”
You hear a groan thinking you have won but then there's a small sigh, "I know you're mad at me..."
That makes you pause. Mad at him? Were you mad at him? Part of you was for awhile but when you really think about it now you're more confused than anything. You take a deep breath and finally say the one thing you had thought about most after that kiss.
"You don't just kiss someone and then run away you know."
You finally turn and see that you have Steves full attention, he rubs the back of his neck awkwardly trying to gather his thoughts.
"I know." he finally gets out.
"Then why did you-"
"I kissed you at the wrong time..." That throws you for a loop. Steve's blush makes the tips of his ears bright red as he continues." You were... lonely and sad..."
It's your turn to interrupt, "Steve Rogers, did you pity kiss me?"
Steve's eyes widen as he quickly reaches for you but holds off, "No! No, it was a real kiss... for me, it was a real kiss."
"What do you mean? That kiss felt real to me, I mean, it was my first kiss..."
You feel yourself wanting to put up your guard but before you can you feel Steve's hands gently sliding up and down your arms before moving to your shoulders carefully brushing away your hair, "I want it to be better. To be right.” Steve's blue eyes look so softly down at you and you feel ensnared all over again. You lean in, and it feels all so familiar. When his hand comes to your cheek and his thumb brushes over your bottom lip, “When I kiss you again, you will know what I mean..."
God, you want him to kiss you again,
”When?” You question.
Steve leans in, his breath fanning over your lips, “How else will I know if you taste as sweet as you did that night..”
You feel like you're melting as you close your eyes, the memories of his tongue tasting like peppermint making you crave it now. You rise to your tiptoes as Steve's arms curl around you, but before you can do anything, the oven's timer is going off.
Both of you jump before frantically looking for the oven mitts, running into each other as you reach for the oven. Finally, you two get the stove open and pull the pan out at the same time. It's so frantic and excessive you both can't help but laugh as you hold the pie.
"What are you two doing?" The sudden voice of bucky practically scares the crap out of you.
Steve looks at his friend then just cocks his head, “Baking, obviously.”
Bucky, ever clueless, just shakes his head as he puts bags of groceries away, you can not believe you almost kissed him again! And almost got caught. You take the pie and place it down to get cooled off. As you turn you run into your mother who is looking at you confused, you think for a moment she's trying to read your mind but then she places her cold hands to your cheeks.
“Steve, what did you do to my girl? She looks flushed?”
Steve just chuckles as he helps with the groceries, “I think she was standing too close to the oven, making her get hot.”
You give him an unamused look, he knows what made you hat and it wasn't a damn oven.
Hours later, long after you and Steve had finished the desserts, after sitting with your Mom and watching the same Christmas movies you did every year (though this year you might have been distracted…) and going to bed, you find that you're still tossing and turning thinking about Steve; what does he mean when he kisses you again… is he going to? You almost did, but then your family walked in… Will he have the chance? And what does he mean you taste sweet!
2am, and you're still thinking about him; years later, he can still rile you up and keep you second-guessing. Just is not fair, damn hot people…
Not seeing any end to your torment, you decide it's time for the perfect late-night medicine: a sweet treat. Making your way down to the kitchen as quietly as possible, you find the Christmas-themed Tupperware stashing the cookies and take one. The sweetest is only a temporary relief to your racing mind, however. Further trying to distract yourself, you open the fridge, checking the pie, making sure it's still intact, and it is.
When you close the fridge, you lazily look around the dimly lit room till you see Steve in the doorway to the kitchen, wearing sweatpants and no shirt. Seriously, universe…
"Looks like Bucky is right; you are the pie thief."
"I was just checking on it, not eating it."
Steve steps into the kitchen, takes a seat at the table, and gets himself a cookie as well. You decide to join in, your minds already filled with him. What's the harm?
"Couldn't sleep?"
"I thought I heard a pie theft." he taunts, making you chuckle, but it dies off quickly, and that same tension starts piling up again.
"I was up thinking about you," Steve suddenly admits, "Thinking back on that night…"
"The night you ran off with my first kiss?" You say it more bitterly than you meant it, but Steve doesn't seem to flinch.
"I had thought of kissing you a long time before then," he confesses, warming your cheeks.
"Why didn't you?"
Steve doesn't look at you while he shrugs his mind on the past, "One, there's an unspoken rule about best friends, sisters, and… I didn't feel good enough, scrawny punk kissing a beautiful, kind girl like you. Thought you would have been modified. Then at the dance when we danced together… you called me perfect. Girls would have never thought to say that, but you did, and I just couldn't help it. When I kissed you, I knew it was wrong, and then I ran, which was even more messed up."
Steve ends his confession by turning to you with a smile, "I screwed it up,"
You two sit silently, looking out the window into the dark, snowing night, "If you messed it up, why come back?"
"I was hoping for a second chance, but… when I saw how mad you were and when we interrupted it… it kinda brought me back to reality, shook me and my plan up…"
Tilting your head, you look at him confused, "Your plan?"
You see, Steve blushes, "Charm you, and I hope I get to do it right this time…"
Your laugh was involuntary. You couldn't believe that after all this time, he wanted a do-over. Steve Rogers, you are the biggest dork, and you love it. He looked embarrassed at you, laughing at his confession, but then you stood from your chair and reached down towards him. "Well? How are you going to charm me sitting down? This is your last chance, Steve. Don't blow it."
Steve grabs your hand, standing to his towering height, "What's the first step in the plan, Steve? I'll let you lead."
"First…" Steve steps closer, bringing your arms to wrap around his neck and his hands to hide purchase on your fuzzy pajama bottom hips. "We sway just like that night."
The two of you start to sway in that same slow dance, and though there is no music, you both know which one is playing in your mind as you move in perfect rhythm. Your hands move from his soft hair to slide down to his chest, where you feel his heart racing through his bare chest. He watches you intently before carefully bringing you to press against his warm body. You can no longer tuck your head into his neck, so you lean into his chest. Steve pauses, and you feel him bring his hand to your cheek, having you look up at him.
"Second, I will tell you how I think you're the prettiest, funniest, kindest girl I've ever met and how, for years, I have thought of you."
You bite your lip as you look into his blue eyes, which reflect the colors of the Christmas lights. "When's the part where you kiss me?" you say, a tad breathless.
He brushes his thumb over your bottom lip, looking at their flushed color, "That's step three after I ask…"
"Steve, kiss me before I lose my mind and pummel you."
That was the exact invitation Steve was waiting for because the next thing you know, he's leaning down and kissing your lips slowly. His hands cupped your cheeks before sliding back down to your waist, his mouth carefully guiding you. It's just as sweet and warm as the first time, but now, with how he moves his lips gently with yours, you can tell he's practiced. Rising your toes, you wrap your hands around his neck and swipe your tongue against his lips, begging for them to part. Once they do, you slip your tongue to taste his. A slight grunt leaves his throat as his hands tighten -Yeah, you learned some things last time.
Steve slides his hands down your body to find purchase on your ass, giving a squeeze and forcing a moan from you in the process before he lifts you up and places you on the contour. Breaking the kiss, he looks at your red face, catching your breath, "taste sweet.." he mumbles before tilting your head up to leave open-mouth kisses on your neck.
The feeling of his burning tongue swiping at your sensitive skin has you tightening your thighs to try to ease your aching clit that's begging to feel him closer. As he's licking and marking your skin with reckless abandonment, your hands are pawing and tugging at his soft hair. Holding on to dear life, his head goes lower and lower, passing your collarbone. This must be that real kiss he talked about before.
Your wandering hands meet the prominent bulge pressed against your leg; softly touching the hardness makes Steve pause as he softly moans into your neck.
"Steve.." His lips kiss your neck slowly as he spreads your thighs, moving in between them.
"Yes, baby… what do you want? Anything you want..." he says into your skin, making you shiver as his lips caress your sweet spot.
You feel his bulge finally press against your covered cunt, and you can't help but gasp, "I want to feel you…" you finally tremble out as you move your hips slowly over him, grinding on his cock.
Steve watches you in awe for a moment before he's repositioning himself and rocking his hips so the nip nudges your clothed clit over and over. Part of you think this might be a delicious dream; there is no way you're actually dry-humping with Steve on your kitchen table in your parent's house, is there? But when his fat tip teases your clit again, making your toes curl, you know this is a dream, this is real, and you don't care. You need him now.
You're about to shimmy out of your bottoms and pull Steves down as well, but the sound creaking of the stairs has you both snapping back to reality. The reality is your hands are about to pull down your pants while Steve has a huge tending boner, and you're on the kitchen table; if caught, there is no explaining that one. So quickly, you're hopping off the table and eagerly pulling Steve to hide in the kitchen's pantry with you. Safely hidden, you and Steve peer through the panty's louvered door to see who is ruining your late-night treat.
Tiptoeing through the kitchen, you see your father making his way to grab a fork and then going to the fridge. Unbelievable. You owe Bucky an apology.
"That sneaky little—" Before you can finish whispering, you feel Steve wrapping his arms around you, his length pushing against you. Turning around carefully, you face him. Only the light streaming in illuminates his face, and you can just see that affection filling his eyes.
Steve gently kisses your lips again, finding them way too easy in the dim dark. His hands curl around your waist, and his head rests in the crook of your neck. His warm breath makes you melt all too quickly.
"Scout, I've liked you for so long…" he says into your neck.
Cuddling him closer, you're about to confess your feelings, those feelings that you had from the moment you met him. Then, the pantry door opens, and you meet your father's shocked expression. His daughter is hiding in the pantry with tousled hair, and her brother's best friend, who is shirtless, is embracing each other. Not a great look…
Eyes going wide as you push yourself away from Steve, trying to fix your hair. Steve clears his throat awkwardly, turning his back towards your father, trying in vain to hide his prevalent bulge. Starting to fumble out an excuse, you're stuttering and panicking for an explanation, but your father is slowly shutting the door before you can even get out a syllable.
You stare at the Shut door in shock. "He's so going to blab to my mother," you groan.
Back in the darkness, you feel Steve wrapping his arms around you. "Would that be so bad? She has been hinting about us getting together."
"Bucky is going to kick your ass."
Steve kisses your neck again, quickly learning where to tease you with his soft lips. "That's fine if you agree. Come out with me for New Year's." Turning, you press your cheek to his chest, cuddling closer.
"Can we go dancing?
Steve Chuckles as he kisses your head and holds you tighter, says, "We can do whatever you want. I want to make up for lost time."

Today you had your day off from work and didn’t have anything special planned until Buck texted you.
“Hey, do you have something planned for today?” He texted and reading his message immediately made you smile. You and Buck have been friends for a while. Spending time together makes you happy and it always makes your butterflies grow for Buck. You also met his friends and his sister a few times, which is always a lot of fun.
“No, not really.”
“Do you want to come over? Maddie will bring Jee later and I could need some help.”
Buck texted, making you chuckle. You remember the last time he took care of Jee and then there was a lot of chaos in his apartment.
“Sure, I bet it will be fun.” You texted with a smile.
“That’s for sure. See you later” Your smile grew bigger, and you couldn’t wait to see Buck again.
A while later you were getting ready to drive to Buck’s apartment. When you arrived there, you hugged Buck and then could already hear Jee.
“Hi” Buck said softly after you broke the hug.
“Hey.” You said quietly, making Buck smile.
“So, what are our plans?” You asked and Jee came running towards you.
“We’re making cookies.” Jee said excited, and you looked over at Buck who nodded with a smile.
“That sounds amazing, sweetie.” You said and Jee giggled. Buck then knelt down and picked her up.
“Let’s go to the kitchen and get started.” Buck suggested and you nodded. You went into the kitchen and Buck gave you and Jee an apron.
“Thank you.” You said as Buck put the apron over your head. Buck showed you the recipe and you helped him put everything you needed on the kitchen counter. Then you started baking the cookies. It was a lot of fun, and you really enjoyed your time with Buck and Jee. Sometimes you read what the next step was and then Buck showed Jee how to do it, or sometimes you and Buck did something together.
After a while you had a whole baking tray full of cookies. You were just about to put the second tray of cookies in the oven when you heard Jee giggling behind you and Buck making a “Shh” sound. You weren’t sure what would happen when you turned around, but you definitely weren’t expecting that. Because as you turned around, Buck suddenly threw a handful of flour into your way, and it landed on your apron and your face.
“Buckley.” You yelled as started laughing and Jee giggled.
“You’ll definitely regret that.” You said and grabbed some flour, smiled at him and then threw it at him. Jee laughed as Buck now started grinning and taking another handful of flour and throwing it at you.
“Let the flour fight begin.” He said and threw more flour on you.
“Will you help me, Jee?” You asked her and she immediately grabbed some flour.
“Jee, I thought you were on my side.” Buck asked in a sad voice while she was already throwing some flour at him. A while later, you and Buck were both covered in flour while Jee little had a bit of flour. Suddenly someone knocked on Buck’s door while you were all eating a cookie. Buck quickly went to the door and opened it. You could tell from the voices that it was Maddie and Chim who were there to pick up Jee.
“Woah, it looks like a bomb exploded here.” Chim said when they walked into the kitchen and looked at Buck and you.
“A flour bomb.” Jee said and yawned.
“Looks like someone’s tired.” Maddie said. Then she thanked Buck and you for taking care of Jee. Buck gave them some cookies and after a while they left. Suddenly you and Buck were alone. When you looked at each other, you both laughed.
“I think we should clean up.”
“Yeah, that’s a good idea.” At first you washed your face and then helped Buck clean up. After a while, Buck looked at you with a smile.
“You still have a bit of flour on your right cheek.” Buck mumbled. You chuckled and tried to rub it away with your finger.
“Is it gone?” You asked, but Buck shook his head.
“Can I?” He asked and you nodded. Then Buck placed his hand on your cheek and gently rubbed it away.
“You have a bit of chocolate on your lip too.” He said and gently placed his finger on your lip. Tension started to build between you two and then suddenly you said something you didn’t really want to say.
“Why don’t you kiss it away?”
“Are you sure?” He asked and then started to smile when you nodded. Then he placed his hand on your cheek and pulled you into a gentle kiss. When you turned away, Buck smiled at you, and you smiled back at him. Buck reached for your hand and then asked.

The snowflakes fall slowly, covering all of New York City in an angelic layer of beauty. You can't help but snuggle a little deeper into your scarf as you gently squeeze Natasha's hand. This gesture has become a non-verbal cue that you're okay without needing to be asked, and she glances over at you with a slight smile on her lips.
"What's wrong? Isn't an Avenger like you used to it being a little cold outside?" she asks playfully, raising your eyebrow as you give her a mock-offended glance, knowing you can't get mad at her for anything. However, seeing her smile instantly warms you from the inside out, as it never fails to make your heart sing.
"I don't understand how people willingly go outside in these weather conditions. They must be crazy to do it."
Although you were born and raised in New York, you've never been a fan of winter and all that it entails. However, for Natasha, you'd do just about anything, including braving freezing temperatures while the snow crunches beneath your boots.
"I guess I'm crazy then," she says with a shrug before quickening her pace, pulling you along as you approach your destination for the evening: the ice skating rink. It wasn't long ago that you confessed you had never been ice skating before, so she made it her mission to take you on a date to do just that.
"Are you excited to go ice skating?" she asks eagerly, her voice rising with happiness. You nod and reach into your pocket for your phone to pay for renting skates in your respective sizes. As soon as that's done, Natasha finds a bench to sit on and put them on, her enthusiasm infectious as she can't stop telling you how excited she is.
"I’ll do some spins and laps around the rink too! But first, I'll teach you how to skate, of course. There's nothing more important than that," she tells you before leaning in and giving you a peck on the cheek, which makes your face break into a massive grin and sends your stomach doing a little somersault with happiness.
"And what about drinking hot chocolate? I was promised my hot cocoa." You squint your eyes at her playfully, and she nods, her fiery red curls bouncing with each motion.
"That too, Золотце [Darling]. Don't you worry your pretty little head about that for even a second," she giggles.
"You're adorable when you giggle. You're always adorable," you tell your girlfriend, making her cheeks flush from the compliment. It's not something she's entirely used to, but you're gradually teaching her that it's okay to accept compliments. Watching her cheeks warm up at your words fills you with pride, too, especially since she rarely gets this shy and cute.
"Well… you're the most precious thing ever. I will protect you with everything I have." Her words are sealed with a kiss that warms your cheeks this time, making her smile proudly as she pulls away, leaving your lips feeling a bit cold and alone.
"Thank you, Солнышко [Sunshine]."
Once you're both secured and ready to go skating, Natasha reaches out her gloved hand to you, and you happily accept it, taking your first steps on the ice. Though the first few meters feel like a baby deer learning to walk, you soon gain confidence, and it shows. While you're far from mastering the spins and laps that Natasha can do, you're still proud of your progress.
"Can we finally go get my hot chocolate now? I need to sit down before my legs give out and I plant my face on the ice!" The question escapes her lips with a huff as she skates gracefully over to you, expertly maneuvering around all the other people skating simultaneously.
"Of course we can, Золотце. You've done an amazing job, and I'm proud of you," she replies. You smile before eagerly stepping off the ice and holding onto the wall for support. While you search for a table with two chairs to sit at, Natasha orders the hot drink you've been craving the whole time, leaving you with your thoughts for a moment.
As you look at your girlfriend, the urge to say "I love you" for the first time weighs heavily on your mind. It's something you've wanted to express for a while now, and there will never be a more perfect moment than tonight, with the moon illuminating the scene and fairy lights glowing as you enjoy hot chocolate together.
"Here you go—I got your favorite!" Natasha says, placing the cup in front of you, with extra marshmallows floating on top just the way you like.
"So? How are you enjoying our date so far?" The cup rests between her now gloveless hands, allowing her to warm them on the steaming liquid inside. A small smile plays on her lips as she gazes at you with pure adoration and love.
'Let's just say I'm glad that sometimes the walls are there so we can lean on them and rest," you tell her with a chuckle, stretching out your legs for a moment as the soreness slowly disappears.
''But then again, I'm never giving up, so I'll be here until I'm just as good as you.'' Natasha raises an eyebrow at you, her expression a mix of disbelief and pride.
''We'll have to see about that,'' she replies, sitting back and closing her eyes to savor the moment—the warmth of her hot chocolate, your company, and the music playing in the background. As the song switches to 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey, you finally gather the courage to share the words you've been thinking since your first date with her.
''I love you, Солнышко.''
As soon as the words hang in the air, she opens her green eyes to meet yours, and her mouth falls open in surprise. Her eyes widen as tears gather in the corners, and you're immediately worried you may have said the wrong thing, though she quickly reassures you.
"Please tell me this isn't a joke. Because I love you too," she asks softly, her voice barely above a whisper. You lean forward, your fingers intertwining with hers as you hold her gaze, the connection between you visible.
"I would never joke about loving you, Natasha. I love you from the furthest corners of my soul to the deepest depths of my heart. You're the one I want to grow old with, and the one I have given my heart to. I love you, and I will never tire of telling you this," you tell her gently, making her smile wide as tears roll down her cheeks.
Instead of responding, she gently sets her drink down and cups your cheeks, drawing you into a heartwarming, passionate kiss. As the snow falls gently and the temperatures continue to plummet, a sense of warmth spreads from within, directly coming from your heartfelt confession.
"I love you too, Золотце, and I long to be your wife one day," she says, leaving you speechless. As you try to process her confession, she kisses you again, and your lips fit together in perfect harmony, sealing your promises.

“The snow looks so beautiful.” You say, admiring the way the snow looks covering everything in the park.
“Not as beautiful as you.” Bucky says.
You couldn’t help but giggle at your boyfriend’s cheesiness.
You and Bucky were walking hand in hand in the park. You grinned to yourself when you got an idea. Bucky looked down at you at the same time the grin appeared on your face. He knows that grin all too well. It’s the grin you have on your face when you’re about to do something mischievous.
“Doll…” He warns.
“I’m not doing anything, Bucky.” You giggled.
You let go of Bucky’s hand and bent down to pick up some snow, packing it into a ball. Bucky watched your every move.
“You better not.” He warns again.
You continued to grin and threw the snowball at him, hitting his shoulder. Bucky chuckles lowly.
“You just started a war, doll face.” Bucky says.
“Bring it on, Sergeant.” You grinned.
Bucky picked up some snow and threw it at you. You managed to dodge it.
“You should know I have cat like reflexes!” You say.
You squeaked when he threw another snowball at you, hitting your arm.
“What were you saying about cat like reflexes, doll?” Bucky chuckles.
You playfully narrowed your eyes at the ex assassin. You picked up snow and threw it at him. Bucky shielded himself with his vibranium arm.
“That’s not fair!” You stomped your foot like a child. “You can’t use your vibranium arm as a shield! That’s cheating!” You whined.
Bucky chuckles at your whiny words. Both of you picked up snow at the same time. This time, Bucky threw the snowball with his vibranium hand. The snowball hit you in the face, making you yelp and drop your snowball. You covered your face with your hands. Bucky’s heart dropped and his eyes widened when he realized what he just did.
“I am so sorry, babydoll!” Bucky quickly apologizes. “I didn’t mean to throw it that hard.” He says.
“It’s ok, Bucky.” You say, your voice muffled by your hands.
Bucky gently pulled your hands away from your face. Your face was red from the impact of the snowball.
“I’m sorry.” He apologizes again.
“It’s ok.” You said, your teeth chattering slightly. “Can we go home please?” You asked softly.
Bucky nodded and wrapped his arms around you, holding you close to him as you two walked home. He felt bad for how hard he threw the snowball at you. He didn’t mean to throw it that hard. He just wanted to have fun with you.
When you two got home, you two changed into dry and comfortable clothes. You sat down on the couch and flipped through the channels on the TV for a Christmas movie to watch. Bucky joined you a couple minutes later and sat down next to you.
“Are you mad at me?” Bucky asks.
“Why would I be mad at you, baby?” You asked.
“I threw a snowball at your face.” He says with guilt in his voice.
“It was an accident, Bucky.” You say.
“But I hurt you.” He says, feeling disappointed in himself.
You put the remote on the coffee table and maneuvered yourself so you were facing him.
“Baby boy, listen to me.” You began, holding his hands. “It was an accident. I know you didn’t mean to.” You almost whispered. “I also I know you didn’t mean to throw it that hard.” You say.
Bucky looked down at your hands and rubbed his thumbs against the backs of them.
“You always know the right things to say, doll.” Bucky smiles.
“That’s why you love me.” You smiled back.
Bucky leans in and kissed you softly and sweetly.
“I love you, babydoll.” Bucky murmurs softly.
“I love you too, baby.” You murmured. “How about you make us hot chocolate and I’ll find us a Christmas movie to watch.” You suggested softly.
“That sounds amazing to me, doll.” He smiles, kissing you once more before making you two hot chocolate.
Warnings: fluff, unplanned pregnancy, remorse, we love Bear
This story is part of my Lumberjack Tales masterlist

Written for @buck-star "Fluffy Winter Event"
I used the tropes: Cabin in the woods + Grumpy x Sunshine + soon to be parents
Ari didn’t let you out of sight. He made sure Bear, and he would flank your sides until you arrived at your apartment. At least, he didn’t complain about your small apartment.
While you watched Ari and Bear step inside your apartment, an uneasy feeling spread in your chest. You wrung your hands while intrusive thoughts made you anxious.
What if it’s a mistake to go back? What if he regrets taking you home? What if he hates the baby and you? What ifs swirled in your mind as Ari looked around your home.
“What do you want to take with you? We’re not going to come back here,” he said, pointing toward the couch in your living room. “I only need to know what you’re taking with you, and you’ll sit here and have a rest.”
“Ari,” you sighed and shook your head. “We can’t go back to what we had so easily. What if you change your mind again? I already quit my job, and now you want me to give up my apartment too. If I leave now I won’t have a place to return to.”
“Good,” he said, and wrapped his arm around your middle to guide you toward the couch. “Now sit and tell me what you’ll need at our home. Bear will keep you company.”
Sitting down on your couch, you sighed again, a little louder this time.
“What is it? Are you in pain? Is it the baby?” Ari sat next to you on the couch to rest his head on your belly. “Baby, are you okay in there? Are you bugging your mommy? Be good. She needs a rest. Your daddy was an idiot.”
“It’s that I’m scared you’ll change your mind again. I can’t do this again. Men always tell you they want you back and change their mind easily the moment a new face shows up.”
“My sweet tramp,” Ari murmured against your belly. “I only want you. Do you honestly believe I moved into the cabin in the middle of nowhere to bring girls home every other day?”
“I don’t know you well enough to tell if you’re a kinky bastard keeping girls in your basement,” you sassed back. “I feared you’d put me down there too.”
Ari chuckled against you, “I only ever wanted to put you in my bed, naughty girl. So, can I pack your things or do you want Bear to beg you even more?” Bear whined loudly at the mention of his name. “Y/N, look at him. He has missed his mommy so much. The poor dog barely ate his food.”
“Ari—” you sniffed and wiped your wet eyes. “I’m scared that you’ll turn your back on me again. How can I trust you again?”
“Little tramp, I know it’s much to ask for, but please have a little faith in me. Our relationship started with a nice chase and the best sex I ever had. You know that there is more between us than sex now”
You watched him rub your belly. It felt odd having Ari so close again.
“I don’t like getting yelled at.”
“I swear, Y/N.” Ari wrapped his arms around you and nuzzled your belly. “I need you back in my life. There will be no yelling. Your grumpy bear will tame his temper for you.”
“I don’t want you to be tame,” you teased while patting his head. “I want you to promise me that we will talk about the things bugging you.”
“Promised, my little tramp.”
Ari did quick work. He got lots of moving boxes and packed up all of your things. Luckily, your apartment was furnished, so you didn’t have to take any furniture with you.
On your way back, you slept in the backseat, cuddled up with Bear. Ari drove slower than ever in his life, afraid to crash his car with you and his baby onboard.
He glances in the rearview mirror more than once, a content smile on his lips. Ari imagined you all swollen with his child.
“Bear, we got lucky with our little tramp. I bet our baby will keep you on your toes, you beast…”
Tail-waggling Bear was following you around the cabin. The Estrela Mountain Dog decided to play your bodyguard. Even Ari had to prove that he was no threat.
“Bear,” you cooed and patted his head as the huge dog sat next to you on the couch. He rested his head on your lap and whined, begging for cuddles. “You’re such a good boy.”
Ari watched you and Bear cuddle on the sofa. He sighed because you still showed him the cold shoulder. You barely let him kiss you goodnight.
“Baby?” Ari tried to get your attention. “I wanted to drive to town to get more supplies. It’s getting colder, and the roads will be more dangerous soon. Do you need anything?”
You looked at Ari, holding back a chuckle. Watching him grovel was your sweet revenge on him. “I’ll come with you. I need to get out for a while.”
“Wait. Uh—why don’t you stay here?” Ari asked. “I can get everything you’ll need.”
“Ari, I’ll need some lady’s toiletries,” you grinned at him. “Skincare, shampoo, and all the nice things you don’t care much about.”
“You can use my shampoo,” he said and touched his shaggy hair. “If it’s good for my hair, it’s good for yours, too.”
You snorted. “No, it’s not. I’ll come with you. If you’re scared, I’ll run again, you can hold my hand the whole time.”
He smirked and said, “I’ll keep you up on that promise, tramp. Now, I’ll get your boots and help you put them on.”
“Ari, I’m pregnant, not sick.”
He raises one hand. “You’re pregnant with my baby, and I’ll make sure you and our bean are safe and sound. No discussion.”
“Fine, fine,” you agreed. “Get the boots, and we can be on our way…”
“Not much to see here,” Ari admitted as you looked around one of the few stores in town. “I can lead you to the lady’s products.”
“I think I’m good, Ari,” you tried to let go of his hand, but he wouldn’t let you. You sighed and gave in.
Following Ari toward the shelf with crèmes and lotions, you felt eyes on you. The girl at the checkout watched you giggle at something Ari said. He suggested buying all the lotions to rub some into Bear’s fur to make him look pretty, too.
“Ari, no,” you giggled and playfully elbowed him. “Bear is a pretty boy. He doesn’t need lotions.”
“Same goes for you, little tramp.” He leaned down to peck your temple, earning an eye roll from the cashier. She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. All the time she invested to seduce Ari just went down the drain. “So, what will we get for you.”
She walked around the checkout to listen to your and Ari’s conversation. Susie wasn’t willing to give up yet.
“I have a list.” You got your list out of your pocket to hand it to Ari. “We should get a few more things they don’t have here.”
“We can order everything online. I got a guy for that.” You chuckled at the seriousness in his voice. “Name it, and it’s yours.”
“Nipple cream for sore nipples.” His cheeks turned pink at that. “What? They’re going to be sore. Things like that happen when you’re pregnant.”
Susie gasped. If you’re pregnant, there was not much hope she could win Ari over.
“I’ll get you all the cream in the world,” Ari purred and stole a kiss.
“Maybe,” you said and fisted his jacket, “we should get some lube too…”
“Oh, sweet tramp,” he replied before stealing another kiss, “we won’t need lube. We both know you’re dripping wet for me all the time…”

The sun was streaming weakly through the living room curtains. You were lying on the couch, with your legs propped up on a pillow to relieve some of the swelling in your feet because you were in the last weeks of pregnancy.
You decide to make yourself comfortable in the softest, warmest garment you have on hand: a huge hoodie that, of course, belongs to Steve. It's perfect; it smells like him, and even though it's a little baggy, it feels like it hugs you every time you move.
You're flipping through your book, enjoying the silence, when you hear the front door close softly. You look up and see Steve walk in.
“Hi, doll,” he says, walking toward you with a smile as he runs a hand through his hair.
“Hi,” you reply, and he leaves a kiss on your forehead before realizing something.
Suddenly, his gaze drops; he notices your hoodie and frowns.
“Is that my hoodie?” he asks with a raised eyebrow, crossing his arms. “Ah, ah, don’t tell me it looks pretty much alike, it’s mine, isn’t it?”
You settle better on the couch, pretending to be very interested in the book. You don't say anything; don't look at it, as if you hadn't heard a word.
“Doll? “he insists, leaning slightly towards you. I know you heard me.
You bite your lip to keep from laughing. You turn the page in the book, even though you're not even reading the words.
Steve sits on the edge of the couch, close to your legs. His hand gently rests on your belly and begins to caress it.
“You and I both know that hoodie is mine,” he says, turning to the baby. “But it's okay; I'll let Mom wear it... for now.”
Finally, you can't help it, and a giggle escapes you.
“I knew you'd admit it,” he says, leaving a kiss on your forehead.
“I haven't admitted anything,” you reply, trying to sound serious but with a smile on your lips.
“Aha, sure,” he replies but doesn't insist further. Instead, he stands up and leans over you to arrange your pillows and make sure you're as comfortable as possible.
