Simple Asks to Bolster Ask Culture Again @swordbende

What are you looking forward to right now? I already answered this here. Another cool thing I'm doing but not until October is going to see a War of the Worlds musical. I didn't know there was one until I heard it on the radio. Me and my best friend go to theatre shows all the time (sometimes even travelling to London) because her degree is in theatre so I asked her if she was interested and now we're going. It should be fun! It's unique if nothing else.

Favorite month of the year and why? March. It's my birthday month. I know, cop out.

Katara wheezed in response to Sokka's declaration.

It was a very close call. They had almost walked straight into that Fire Nation camp without realising it. Thankfully they'd managed to turn tail and flee before anything truly awful happened but Katara didn't know if she would ever get used to running for her life through an Earth Kingdom forest. It certainly hadn't been what she had expected of the grand adventure to the North Pole when she left home.

At the mention of her hair she instinctively reached up and winced as she found a twig which was pulling at her roots. Probably best to let Sokka do it since he could see what he was doing properly.

Katara sniffled into the furs of her bed. It wasn't fair. First Mom had died and now Dad was gone as well?

She'd tried to be brave. She'd felt the tears welling in her eyes the moment the warriors started loading the boats ready to sail off and fight who knew where. Dad needed her to be brave. He needed her to be a big girl and to help Gran Gran, and Sokka, and the rest of the tribe that weren't going to fight.

So she'd waited until Gran Gran and Sokka had gone to sleep before she let the tears fall. Once they started it felt like they'd never stop. Despite her best attempts at keeping herself quiet, she knew her sniffles and heaving breaths were loud enough that anyone would know she was crying. That didn't seem to make it any less easy to stop herself.

Katara heard someone stir and quickly buried her face into the furs, uncaring that they were now wet. The warm body that settled beside her was only slightly bigger than her. It must be Sokka. Well now she felt worse. She knew how much he'd wanted to go with their father and the other warriors but he'd been told he had to remain here.

And she felt grateful for that because she couldn't imagine losing Sokka and their father on the same day.

Eventually she had to lift her head again for another gulp of air which turned into a sob. Sokka's fingers were warm against the skin of her cheek, brushing away the river of tears that were running down her face.

Zuko let out a huff as he said, “You just want a chance to say you’ve gone on another secret mission with me, don’t you?” He knew that he shouldn’t face his sister alone, but he also knew it was probably the safest option. Well, maybe not. Azula was unpredictable, with or without her bending. His new chi blockers regularly made sure Azula didn’t have her bending, sure it might be easier to just have Aang wipe it away like he had with his father, but he didn’t want her to lose her abilities permanently. Zuko had hope for Azula. There was always hope.
