Pragmatism is an utterly failed ministry methodology

The unbelieving world will yield no ground on their cardinal doctrines. If youāre tempted to let your convictions on menās and womenās roles, sexuality and gender, or the absolute right to life for the unborn be swayed by some notion that, āOh, if we could just be more sensitive, or less dogmatic, or take a more compromising, mediating view, weāll have a better chance of building bridges and reaching those who disagree with us,āāyouāre on a foolās errand.
The political and theological left demands unswerving allegianceātotal assimilationāto the dogmas of politically correct orthodoxy.
If youāre willing to sacrifice faithfulness for cultural influence or respectability, youāll find yourselves being neither faithful to Scripture nor respected by the culture. At some point youāll have to choose between offending postmodern sensibilities or offending the Lord Jesus Christ whose Word speaks so clearly on these matters.
Both Christ and culture demand a mutually exclusive absolute loyalty. You who profess to follow Him must decide whose slave you will be. It will be one or the other.

While I do all I can to heed intuition and its taps on the shoulder (including the violent shakes in early 2018 that said change and travel was ahead), none would have imagined that might involve half-a-world crossing in the last 8 months. What an experience like that - a deliberate immersion in other ways - shows us is where authenticity & goodness resides. On a walk with a renowned artist friend of mine in HI once, I frankly said, āContrast is good for everyone.ā He looked at me as if Iād just solved the worldās problems & then, āI never thought of it that way...ā At the time, my intention was that one way offsets the other; thus, we can see each more clearly as it is. Fortunately or not,this is also true with goodness and sincerity of intentions. When we get that first twinge of, āHmmm, this may not be quite as it seems (in a person, or place, or behavior), we are wise to stay aware. Sure, do flood it with good and light. Yet, we also know that a pained/confused 1 can be triggered by higher vibes, instead of - we hope - #swayed positively to rise: meet them. Yes, we are our own keeper/regulator. Our energy is our own responsibility. High š«#vibes are best, they feel and manifest best, and bring good energy to the #presence of š„others. Of course, all kinds of people with so many stories - & such need for healing - exist in the world. Much as we may want to offer good wherever we go, at times the best that can be done: observe and #learn from what is...see the contrast. An upside >>> generally each time pained chaos is exercised at or to or around us, it will not be long before a gentle bit of refreshing kindness arrives like a sweet and lovely breeze.
