yeah i accidentally killed like at least 10s of millions of people cuz i indirectly destroyed the world hows that

in my defence i was very mentally ill lmao, not in like a normal mental illness way but in like literally programmed with ever-increasing urges to kill sonic (and ever-increasing power to do so), which i eventually did, and stuff gradually started to collapse without him

but THAT wasn't the world-ending part, the world-ending part was when i tried and failed to fix the damage i caused now that i could think about shit other than "kill sonic", because like, i was the one that killed him so who the fuck is gonna trust me

and eventually i decided to go out with a bang and kill eggman because at least that's the worst big bad out of the way and maybe these people can pick up the pieces without him, but he's a salty bitch and went totally scorched-mobius with an automated self-improving self-replicating AI war machine that took over literally like 99% of the world as some kinda petty revenge. it's like forces shit but even worse, with actual consequences, and no sonics to save anyone

as some of you have seen, as Surge the tenrec i cut off Sonic's leg and then electrocuted him almost to death. and i have been feeling really super incredibly guilty about it.

well, it turns out that both of my lives are in the same timeline, meaning as Whisper, i get to see the psychological and physical impact that shit had on him because we shared the same hospital room. oh, yeah, and the entire reason he even went to track Surge (me) down in the first place was to rescue the Wisps that she (i) stole.

so i got to see the fallout of my attempt at killing the guy who, as Whisper, i considered my closest friend after my future wife, Tangle. as Surge, i did everything i could to kill him because i believed that literally all my trauma was his fault by proxy, since his "never take a life" morality lead to Dr. Starline going on to kidnap, experiment on, mutilate, and eventually brainwash me and Kitsunami.

my feelings about that damn blue hedgehog keep getting more complicated. this feels like a very mean joke being played on me by the kin gods. like honestly what the fuck even is that.

i put 'make' in quotes because what he was doing was playing god. he took us apart and put us back together again so many times we couldn't even recognize ourselves in the mirror. he manipulated us and twisted us to become his fucking puppets.

he unmade us. we had been real people before him. we had lives. we were whole. he took that from us.

he took it without anesthesia. without sedatives.

sometimes i think he experimented on us just for fun. maybe he felt powerful when he saw us strapped to his fucking table. maybe he liked the way we screamed when he cut us open. maybe he thought he was going to change the world when he took pieces of us and replaced them with machines. i don't know.

he had us so reliant on him for so long that we didn't even question it when we couldn't remember entire days at a time. he'd say it was our implants glitching or something, and we just accepted that.

fuck you, Starline. you were a failure and i hope you felt that as viscerally for your last moments as we felt your hands poking around our guts. my only regret about our relationship is that i wasn't the one who got to put you down.
