So this might be my last post on this blog. But I wanted to end it by giving you guys tips for this summer. I hope all of you have an amazing summer and get that glowy and tan summer skin. Here are a few tips on how to protect your skin and hair from the hot summer weather.
1. Choosing the right sunscreen
The SPF means the amount of time you can stay out in the sun without getting burned. For example, an SPF of 15 means you can stay in the sun for 15 hours without burning than you’d be able to without any sunscreen. I recommend using at least an SPF of 30, the higher the better because of more protection. But please use sunscreen even if you're not going to the beach because you guys might think it’s whatever and you won't get burned but it’s actually really bad for your skin.
Be aware that even if you use an SPF of 60 that doesn't mean it’ll last you for 60 hours. Sunscreen wears off really fast you have to be constantly reapplying especially if you’re out at the beach or park. Even the best waterproof sunscreen only last about 80 minutes.
Make sure to look for an SPF that protects you from UVA/UVB rays. UVA rays can cause premature aging, fine lines, and skin cancer. UVB rays cause burning.
2. Apply A Lot. “The American Academy of Dermatology recommends following the “one ounce, enough to fill a shot glass” rule. That means applying as much sunscreen as would fit into a shot glass over every exposed part of your body. “
3. Don’t think that because you're wearing clothes you’ll be protected. A tee only has an SPF of about 8. So you can use clothing for the extra measure but also use sunscreen.
1. Use non- comedogenic products. “Non-comedogenic beauty products are designed not to clog pores (which can lead to irritation and blemishes). This is especially important in summer: hot and humid weather leads to sweat, which takes a longer time to evaporate off your skin, and combining that with oily products isn’t exactly a party for your pores. Go the oil-free or non-comedogenic route to ward off pimples.”
3. Exfoliate at the right times.
4. Aloe will become your best friend. You can buy an aloe gel at Walmart it really helps after being out all day.
5. Invest in a moisturizer that works on wet skin.
6. Don't shave your bikini line before going to the beach. “This skin is some of the more sensitive and prone to irritation, so shaving or waxing off layers of dead skin cells and then exposing it to harsh sunlight, salt, and chlorine? That’s just begging for bumps, ingrown hairs and razor burn.”
