Now I admit, I may be biased, as I am not a fan of it's creator or many of it's writing choices, but I love the characters, setting, music, and so badly want to love the plot.
But having participated in fandom for over 15 years, Having Hotel seems to be the only fandom I have ever been in where regular things like redesigns or rewrites met with such hostility- in every single other fandom I've been in, those are normal and accepted parts of fandom.
I also see a lot of non-fans get harassed when drawing fanart, but It is perfectly normal for people to like one or two aspects of a series while not liking others, but Hazbin is the only one where I've seen people get harassed over it even without insulting the show or it's fans. I've seen an artist get harassed and called "pretentious" for drawing human designs without tagging or mentioning the characters names or series. They didn't insult the show or it's fans, only said they didn't want to touch it again because it isn't to their interests.
I do understand that Hazbin in particular gets an overwhelming amount of hate and bad-faith criticism, sometimes it feels like people are just *looking* for stuff to complain about, but it also isn't everyone's cup of tea and that's okay.
Some people might like the concept but not the characters, or the characters but not the writing, or the actors and the setting but nothing else, and that's okay! Honestly, Hazbin is such a nightmare of a fandom to participate in, because everyone either needlessly hates on it, or harasses you for trying to have a genuine discussion about what you like and dislike with no in-between.
