creature fact 3/21
sun elves with their empire has the largest army. this is because their oracle foresaw a need for one. years after the times of ancient and the loss of magic, they still have an oracle--albeit not the same one
before magic was taken, they had the elemental magic of fire
Elf freckles!!! I give every elf I draw special, shiny freckles and no one can stop me. These are just the main four elf subraces but I have thoughts on others too, like sea elves with iridescent freckles (like fish scales!)
And this is gonna be a series! I already have another piece about gnomes on my blog now! Image ID: [The text in the center of the image reads: “Elves are very a diverse people, with hair and skin tones ranging from human tones to blues, greens, purples, and even occasional grays. Especially notable are metallic elven freckles, different for each subclassification. Moon elves’ shine silver, sun elves’ gold, and wood elves’ copper. Drow possess especially unique bioluminescent freckles.” Image description continues on the read more:

did you already finish the current seasons? if so what are you opinions on the three main elf races shown so far: sun, sky and moon?
I’ve come to realize, all of them as a collective are assholes.
There are stand out exceptions, but those are for individuals.
Like if I had to pick, I would likely go Sky, since even though they are a bit snarky they don’t just excommunicate people without a second thought like the Moon elves and don’t just decode burn people alive like the Sun elves.
Like Humans are considered jerks but really, if you consider the fact that they are belittled by the other races and Dragons, it’s hard to see the group as jerks, only Viren and that Prince D-bag.
Maybe we just saw them at a bad time, but really, not a good look for the elves

I’m reading through the Forgotten Realms wiki and I’m actually a little shocked over how much of a group of racist assholes the elves (More particularly, the Sun elves) are described as in there. Like, I knew elves are usually portrayed as being arrogant and oh-so-better-than-you, but I didn’t knew they were actual textbook racists. Look... I just... what?
Here’s some remarkable bits of lore from the wiki:
Sorry, aquatic elves are interesting and all, but can we go back to the “in need of civilizing” bit, please? No?
Well fuck you too, buddy!
...
...Okay, then.
Look, I know the Drow (aka Dark Elves, because surprise surprise they happen to be elves too if you don’t know that) are generally evil because their society does kinda revolves around the worship of an evil Goddess and all that, but (and do correct me if I’m wrong) it’s also canon that they individually can be neutral and even good. Tons of people have Drow PCs, they are cool.
Also, that policy sounds dangerously close to a certain word that starts with G, my dude. And that word is not “gay”.
Just... Wow.
