If Amane Yugi was a bacterium, he would be Streptococcus Mitis!

Requested by @amaneyxgi !!! Thank you!
FUN FACT: When the Apollo 12 mission brought the Surveyor 3 back to earth, Streptococcus Mitis was found alive on the camera, leading scientists to believe the bacteria had been to the moon. But as it turns out, there weren’t sufficient measures taken to prevent contamination as it came back, so the Surveyor 3 most likely picked up the bacteria when it came back, and streptococcus mitis probably never went to the moon at all. Amane Yugi was fascinated by the moon while he was alive, but decided he would never actually make it there.
homunculus facts¡
i,m allergic to amoxicillin this week•
oddly enough' i didn,t choose it this time' it just happened•
just in time for strep throat to be going around ತ_ʖತ
anyway' i know what i,m asking master to put in the potion this week•
not going through that again•
Thinking about that time I took a microbiology class in college and they straight up let us grow strep in a Petri dish. Pretty funny too because they stressed “yes. Yes this is the same stuff that will make you sick. Don’t touch your face. Wash your hands.”

Getting Inside
To cause meningitis, bacteria must find a way from the bloodstream into the brain, bypassing the line of defence specifically designed to prevent this: the blood-brain barrier. A team of scientists wanted to examine this intrusion in a living model, rather than in cultured cells in a lab, so turned to transparent zebrafish. They used time-lapse microscopy to observe how Group B Streptococcus, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis in newborns, takes hold. They recorded brain blood vessels (red in the video) as the bacteria (green) formed colonies and perforated the endothelial cells that line the barrier, making a space for bacteria to sneak in. The team identified a toxin involved in damaging the blood vessels, and a gene essential for the destructive process. With this gene silenced, the brain invasion was diminished, which might point to better ways to treat or prevent meningitis.

SMASH OR PASS: Streptococcus, Cells at Work!
Streptococcus
Smash (and/or date/smooch/etc)
Pass (not my type)
Hey gang, remember when I said that I had a bad cough due to my allergies? Well my symptoms got worse (cough was worse and I had these random chills) so I went back to get checked out and it turns out I actually have tonsillitis 😭 they are also currently testing to see if I have strep throat. However even if I do, the antibiotic they gave me for the tonsillitis can also treat the strep throat so as long as I take it I should be fine. Thanks for all the lovely messages you gave me! Hopefully this all passes soon so I can focus on my exams
