Edward Hines. He was a Commissioner of the Wayne County Road Commission in Michigan from 1906 to 1938.

One day in 1911, he watched a milk truck leak milk down a dirt road. He realized a white line could be used to keep traffic coming from different directions on the same road, having their own lanes. He also pioneered the practice of snow removal on public roads.

They tie with birds in my opinion and they’re my obsession, though I’ve only seen them in zoos and it’s a little sad because the enclosures (at least to the ones I’ve been to) are really quite small. They can get up to around five to a little over six feet at the shoulders with females being larger than their male counterparts.

Okapis are most related to giraffes and are the only two living animals in the Giraffidae family. They have evolved to sleep in short periods for an overall two hours a day. They have really long tongues that can even lick inside their ears. Mothers can produce infrasonic calls to communicate with their calves, and their pregnancies last for 14 to 15 months.

Calves can stand 30 minutes after birth and stay in the nest (dense foliage and vegetation on the ground) for their first two months. They also have a unique ability to stop popping for months in order to hide their scent from predators.
