reading stormlight archives and the arabic-origin names are obvious (kaladin, hasina, nur) and the israeli names are even more disgustingly obvious (moashe after sanderson's israeli editor moshe feder, yonatan and meirav after feder's relatives). i hope they all explode and die ameen.

Rock and Szeth could have had an interesting dynamic I think. Two men from cultures with strict policies regarding a mere association with violence, perhaps Rock as a cook is He Who Adds. Maybe Szeth could have been better off after a nice dough-rolling session

How was it that the Listeners managed to remain hidden for so long? We know from the Way of Kings that Alethi expeditions to Natanatan were pretty common, and the Listeners HAD to have been close enough to human settlements for them to acquire Shards following the Recreance. We also know Eshonai’s dad left the Listeners to seek the edge of the map. It’s not like he would have consciously tried to avoid human settlements: the Listeners assumed the humans were wiped out during Aharietiam. I’m impressed it took so long for them to be found

Here’s a thought: why did the Highspren NEVER explain the Recreance to the other Spren? The Skybreakers were the only order to refuse to break their oaths, but they were surely still in correspondence with the others when they made their decision. The Highspren of old are the only ancient Spren to remain (save Syl): in which case why did they seemingly never explain the Radiant Spren’s part in the Recreance? The Skybreakers were a known force to the Ghostbloods, I’d be thoroughly shocked if the Spren were unaware of the Highspren continuing Radiant oaths. I can understand not wishing to pursue Radiant oaths, but surely sharing context for the decision would have alleviated a LOT of resentment among the Radiant Spren
