These earrings are pyrite schist in a black matrix. This type of extremely fine pyrite schist is only found in the Harz mountains of Germany. These are set in sterling silver and are just over an inch long.
Still learning jewelry making, did my first crack at stonesetting today. Pretty dang happy with how it turned out!

Earlier in the semester, I conceived my Puerto Rican flag brooch project for jewelry and metalsmithing class. The castle was inspired by the tower in El Yunque National Forest. Much like my drawing and painting series last fall, this brooch was definitely inspired by my time in Puerto Rico last summer. π΅π·
