I’m going down with the Ship, not with the Show.
And the shoe drops.
And suddenly, a whole mess of things make a little bit more sense. I’ll be honest, I’ve been hedging my bets on Sterek happening since the close of season 4. I believe that Sterek is what Jeff planned, I truly do and nothing is going to change that.
But... (so many buts) the show has always been at the mercy of the actors and it’s always been excellent at supporting them and putting their interests first, even if it meant the show suffered, and I can only praise them for that.
And then there’s network and producers, who didn’t want to put their eggs in that basket. Here’s where I think they made a bad call. I think a Sterek romance not only would have saved the show, but given it a huge boost in ratings and in media. But that wasn’t my call. (Obviously)
So, suddenly the rumors of a feud between SH and Holland make a whole lot more sense. DOB has clearly got the biggest star power in the show, and it’s in any actresses best interest to be in as many scenes as possible with him. Holland was a true Sterek believer, but if that was never going to happen, she’d be wise to get her character as close to Stiles as possible.
And I’m also wondering how (if at all) the reshoot of the season finale was influsensed by Hoechlin leaving? They probably knew during the reshoots. Yeah, I know, the ‘official story’ is Hoechlin decided to leave while filming his movie after the filming of Season 4, but honestly, I don’t believe it. After all, as soon as the season finale aired, they were taunting us with one of the regulars was leaving. I think they knew, and I wonder how that effected the reshoot.
Of course, i have no hard feelings at all towards Hoechlin. He tried to let us down gently after all. All those conventions where he was just ‘no’. Yeah, well, there we go. I’ve heard rumors that he might follow Colton’s footsteps and get a show on the CW DC lineup, and I hope he does. That group of shows has been doing really well, and it looks like it’s got legs for a long, sucessful run. Plus, we all know how close Tyler and Colton are in real life and it’d be great if they could get the chance to work together again.
As for Teen Wolf, yeah, I don’t know. It’s too early and I need time to process. I kinda hope that DOB bails at this point, especially if he does get the Spiderman role. I have no doubt that Hoechlin will make an appearance in season 5 to close out his character. He’s a classy guy like that, and he does love the show and the cast. And I really, really HOPE in that one episode (because I suspect that’s all it will be) that we get a Sterek scene that will blow the doors off their hinges! The ships going down, it might as well go down with a blast.
