Next time we’ll get to Step 5 part 2!
I'm (finally!) actually writing my story about Uncle, and I feel like I have a good sense of his voice BUT I have no idea how to write his proverbs! Any ideas (besides re-reading chapter 33 of Little Zuko a dozen times because it's so brilliant)?!
The Secret to a Good Uncle Proverb, a Definitive Guide by MuffinLance
Step 1: Choose what Uncle actually means to say.
Ex: Nephew you really shouldn't ram a battleship into this village via its local ice shelf.
Step 2: Choose an animal, plant, or other natural element. It can help, but is not necessary, to choose one that does a related action.
Ex: Orca, because orcas like tipping ice when delicious delicious seals are up there.
Step 3: Proverb. Coach this in terms of what Zuko is doing and the negative impact it will have on him. This is quality life advice you are giving, after all.
Ex: The elephant-orca that cracks the ice too soon finds the seal-deer fled.
Happy New Year everyone! I am starting mine off with a MARA meeting and a good book. This is gonna be a good, CLEAN year. My first, since age 13. If I can manage to pull it off. I need to get a new sponsor, too, so I’m gonna try to do that today if I can, at the meeting. If not, I’ll figure something else out. But I finished writing step 4 and need to do my step 5 soon, so we’ll see. Might end up doing it with Chuck instead.
Bardon Step 5 Soul
The work of developing the soul or astral body continues by strengthening the power to concentrate elemental energies and releasing them into the environment to cause an effect. You begin to bring your control of the elements into physical manifestation here, but don’t get too excited. This is just a progression towards that, not full on heating and cooling your home on the cheap. If you can project the element and sense it outside of yourself it is a win. If you have done everything properly from the Theory section until step 5 it should be fairly easy to do.
You do not have to get the condensation strong enough to have someone feel it here as a burning heat, although if you have a psychically sensitive person around the house they may pick up the energy in a variety of ways (my wife would smell the element I drew into the home and would always guess correctly which element I worked with even when I tried a random order) I recall one night her getting up from a dead sleep because she smelled a strong burning smell while I had worked with fire. I assure you if someone who was not sensitive was in the room they could not have guessed. Bardon mentions how you can condense the element into drinking water and effect the taste. I always recommend getting the subject to taste the water first and describe the experience, and even allowing them a second try before projecting the element and getting their impressions on it. Although once you reach a strong enough condensation it will be VERY obvious.
This section is always one I have to point out where Bardon uses the words student/initiate vs Magician. Student/initiate in IIH is always someone working on IIH but who has not completed it, a Magician according to Bardon is someone who has completed Step 10. Keep a careful eye when he says what one can do vs the other and you won’t fall into a training nightmare. Please read this section carefully with that in mind and keep an eye out for it through the entire book.

Make everyone blue team
Bardon Step 5 Spirit
From here on in Bardon if you have not done the work it is really really weird to try to explain what is going on sometimes. For the student who has progressed this far, it is simply a continuation of prior work. The good news is once this whole step in three aspects is down pat, really you have the rest in the bag. The work here is another progressive challenge that from this vantage point makes sense and just needs to be put into practice. For the casual reader this will begin to descend into a different language. By this point I should not have to tell a student that this is done in their spirit, not their soul, you see Bardon even gives instructions here as to intention or commands to oneself in order to do this just as I have shown in these summaries. The idea is to go the then energetic core of a thing and experience its nature mentally or in its spirit. One pointed meditation/Jhana concentration finds its next level in this work. Open up to the experience and observe with your awareness subjects at the core of their meaning. If one mastered this stage and took it to its heights you could do an “Inception” at will.
Bardon Step 5 Physical
This section could not be more straight forward in my mind. It just takes the ability to work with and perceive the vital force and elemental energies. If you have done the work up until now simply follow the instructions. What I can comment on is the prep one can do for best results in contacting one’s guide or angel.
The first few times this is done before you get to know the presence of your guide I recommend cleaning the room you will be doing this in thoroughly. Bathing while being focused on purity, read some inspirational text you find sacred or holy, burn incense that you think corresponds to a temple like atmosphere (Frank and myrrh are great as is Nag Champa) In other words get your outer and inner state into the highest vibration you can muster. If you are familiar with a banishing ritual perform that before the “ceremony” By building up a ritually pure space and internal experience you “dial in” the right frequency and it helps keep any nasty critters away.
Once you have the energetic experience of the guide down you do not need to go all out every time but if done the first few times or if you do several days of purification and prayers before the attempt you can be more confident in the work. None of this is required or necessary of course, just a little work that can make the “call” stronger.
