We had a school shooting yesterday that left a student killed in my community. Kendrick Castillo is a hero who saved many lives.
I grew up here, I went to school in this district, and it’s so painful. The organization I’m a chair of will be hosting a blood drive and a letter-writing campaign to our representatives to plea for children’s safety. We will reach out to the Castillo family once the time is right to honor their son’s memory.
Keep us in your thoughts. If you can, take action to work towards change.

There are some rumours going around that the unnamed shooter at highlands ranch school is a transman. In addition the first named shooter, Devon Erickson, has been noted to have said antichristian and lgbt supportive messages online.
Please don't take any anger you have out on the lgbt community despite the possible connection to the shooters. Even if this does end up being true please remember that lgbt people across the world are mourning with you and even could be in risk of more threats right now due to this so please help to support and protect them at this time.
My heart goes out to the victims and their families in this time of struggle and fear.

STEM School Shooting
I'm kinda pissed to see that the STEM School Shooting isn't trending. I am a local who lives minutes from Highlands Ranch, CO. I'm not aware how much national news sources have covered on the shooting. I'm honestly shaken. I don't go to STEM School but one of my close friends was best friends with the adult shooter in custody. I was sent a "goodbye" message which I originally interpretted as suicidal until I had seen the news. I knew and have talked to the shooter a good handful of times. My close friend survived physically unharmed. While I do not directly know the shooter very well, I would have never thought they would be capable of this. As far as I've heard from my friend, the one student who died had saved their gf and the entire classroom. I can't even fathom the fact that you never think it will happen in your city, in a friends school, instigated by someone you know...

Planning for the rest of the year. As a student I find that my motivation peak is in July instead of January, because that is the period when the new academic year starts. I find that is the bonus when you are a student, we still get to use the other half of the year for all our goals, even if we are not satisfied how much progress we made so far, the next 6 months are enough time to make it count right? :)

My condolences to all at the STEM school in Highlands Ranch. My school is extremely close to that school. No one deserves to go through a school shooting.
