#study corner

Three languages I want to put my focus on:

One in which I'm already familiar with, but will need to improve on the reading and writing parts aka Thai; mainly understands the verbal side of the language ever since childhood, making it my first language before having English to be my main one (due to societal pressures and upbringings).

The other is Mandarin. I realised with the upcoming trips I'm going to require to understand mostly Mandarin when talking to people. So mainly have to work on the verbal side first before going straight with the writing. I do have accounts like Red Note and WeChat for learning purposes (well ok that and for geek stuffs like Transformers haha)

The third is Chinese as well, but part of the reasons why I want to learn this was of ancestral reasons. Teochew. I am of Thai Teochew descent and it ...saddens that theres not much talks about the Teochew language. Whether it would be saying A'gong, A'ma, Jeik (a way to say let's eat to everyone before eating), and just having different ways of talking compared to Mandarin. Thankfully there are channels and an app to learn about Teochew on google store (not sure if Apple store has it or if it's just android exclusive). Deep down I do want to use as a mean to keep this language going no matter how hard it may be.

I hope everyone got into the new year well and your New Year's resolutions will come true.

I've got a lot going on this year. I'm graduating in a few months and we're all already writing our bachelor thesis. Nevertheless, I am also in the middle of my exams. I still can't believe that I will soon be able to hold my degree in my hands. But first one thing at a time. Of course I also have New Year's resolutions and one of them is to take more time for myself and actually do the things I enjoy. Not because I have to do them, but because I want to do them. I want to try new things and get back to old hobbies. At the moment I have the feeling that fun activities have become less and the dull everyday life has come in more and more.

Therefore, the motto is, no matter how much you have to do, don't forget your own well-being and take time for other things, no matter how unproductive they may seem, if they do you good then that's more than enough.
