This is not a completed piece of art. I plan on drawing more cool wasps and eventually making a poster. I've just been going through a hard time recently, and I haven't had as much inspiration. Depression is hitting me a bit. Here are all the ones I've done so far. If anyone has a suggestion for a very obscure, specific, and weird wasp, let me know! You might spark my inspiration and motivation!

it's funny to me thinking about the sheer scale between the macrovolutes in Humans-B-Gone! and other bug characters (such as my own)- I have to wonder how Sophodra would react to classic "furry" style/anthro bugs

I couldn't confidently ID her species but most likely option seemed to be a grasshopper hunter of some kind...) sound on for squeaks! front range, colorado, beginning of april. would love a more confident ID!
also do you happen to know why wasps like this move in such a distinct twitchy manner?
Without seeing a clear photo of it up close, I can only say that it may be a great black digger wasp, which do indeed prey on orthopterans - so katydids, grasshoppers, and crickets. I'm afraid I don't know why they look so much more twitchy than other wasps!

Sphex, Hive/Night. She's a big old bear, she got the tall genes from her dad and really throws her weight around hugging people when she maybe shouldn't. Her and her half-sister are both born well after the events of the books so the Nightwing population is healthy in the rainforest and the Hivewings have recovered from Wasp along with intercontinental travel being common now. Sphex is still young, 6, and still figuring stuff out as she goes to school.
