Cody and Obi-Wan walk out of the Republic army office
Cody: “Waxer, Boil, settle a little tiff Obi-Wan and I are having.”
Obi-Wan: “Let’s be honest Cody its not a tiff, its a row.”
Cody: “And now its a scene.”
Boil: “Its ok sir, we don’t wanna get involved in your personal life.”
Cody: “Its not personal, its a math problem.”
Waxer and Boil (simultaneously): “Oohoo Mama/Pass.”
Obi-Wan: “Cody and I had dinner together last night for the first time in 2 weeks, thanks to the night shift.”
Cody: “And Obi-Wan thought it would be fun to spoil our date with an INANE math problem. To which his answer is wrong.”
Waxer: “Enough foreplay let’s get to the numbers.”
Cody: “Its the Monty Hall Problem, imagine you’re on a game show, there are 3 doors, behind one of which is a speeder-”
Obi-Wan: “You’re telling it wrong. There are 3 doors, behind one of which is a speeder. You pick a door, the host, who knows where the speeder is, opens a different door, showing there’s nothing behind it. Now the host asks if you'd like to choose the other unopened door. Should you do it?”
Cody: “No!”
Obi-Wan: “Yes!”
Cody and Obi-Wan: “ITS SIMPLE MATH!”
Cody: “It doesn't make any sense to switch. The prize is behind one of two doors. It's a 50/50 chance either way.”
Obi-Wan: “It's 2/3 if you switch, 1/3 if you don't. The probability locks in when you make the choice. We've been over this eight times.”
Cody: “Seven times, now you can’t even do simple addition.”
Waxer: “Obi-Wan is right.”
Cody: “You’re fired.”
Waxer: “What!?”
Boil: “Ha-Ha!”
Later
Cody walks into the office
Waxer: “Good Evening Sir!”
Cody: “No. Its Not. I haven’t slept because I’ve been going over that stupid problem. Now I finally understand Obi-Wan’s side.”
Boil: “Cool, so its all better and I never have to hear about math again?”
Cody: “Quite the opposite, I know better than ever how wrong he is.”
(flashback to Cody and Obi-Wan’s house)
Cody: “Probability doesn’t kick in. Do I have to teach you college level statistics?”
Obi-Wan: “I don’t know, do I have to teach you high school statistics?”
Cody: “Do I have to teach you 8th grade statistics?”
Obi-Wan: “Do I have to teach you 7th grade statistics?”
Cody: “Do I have to teach you-”
(cut back to present)
Cody: “Now if you’ll excuse me Troopers, I need to leave him a snide voice mail about “kindergarten statistics.”
Waxer: “Okay, we have got to explain this thing to Commander Cody to save their relationship. And you laughed at me when I went to that weekend-long math conference.”
Boil: “Cause you called it "funky Loth-cats and their feisty stats."
Waxer: “That was the name! It was so cool.”
Boil: “It was not. Anyway, it's not about the math. They haven't seen each other because of the night shift. They just need to bone.”
Waxer: "WHAT!? Gross Boil! Those Are Our Dads!
Boil: raises eyebrow
Waxer: “I mean ... [chuckles] ... That's not what I think. Commander Dad is just my boss.”
Boil: “Wow.”
Waxer: “Never mind! I'm teaching father the math!”
Boil: smirks
Waxer: “Whatever, Boil!” walks away
later
Waxer is on the ground by his desk, looking for something when Commander Cody walks up:
Cody: “Is everything okay, Waxer?”
Waxer: “No, I lost my ring.”
Cody: “Did you see where it went?”
Waxer: “Actually... (pulls up miniature monty hall problem), It's behind one of these three doors. Why don't you pick one?”
Cody: “Are you trying to Monty Hall me? It's unbelievable. I don't need Monty Hall ruining my place of work when Monty Hall has already ruined my home life.”
Boil: “Come on, sir, the math thing isn't the problem. Night shift's keeping you and Obi-Wan apart. You two just need to bone.”
Waxer: whimpers audibly
Cody (voice cracking): “What did you say?”
Waxer: “Don't say it again.”
Boil: “I said you two need to bone.”
Amy: whimpers
Cody: “Hoooooow daaaaaare you, Boil. I am yOuR SUPERIOR oFfIcEr!”
[five minutes later]
Cody: “Bone!”
[ten minutes later]
Cody: “What happens in my bedroom, Trooper, is none of your business.”
[twenty-one minutes later]
Cody: “BoOoOoOoOne?!”
[forty minutes later]
Cody: “Don't ever speak to me like that again.” Walks away.
Waxer (raises head from desk): “Why did you do that?”
Boil: “Dude was pent up. Now he knows. Problem solved.”
the next day
Waxer: “Oh, Commander, I know you don't want to talk about Monty Hall, but I did contact a math-”
Cody: “No need trooper. It's all good.”
Waxer: “So the fight with Obi-Wan is over?”
Cody: “Yep.”
Waxer: “Because you understand the math now?”
Cody: “Nope.”
Boil: “Because you guys-”
Cody: “Yep.”
Boil: “Knew it. See, what happened is, your dads had sex-”
